My husband and I stayed here at the end of a 2 week trip. After being in West End at the beginning of the trip it was nice to see somewhere new. It was very calm and quiet compared to West End. The snorkeling off the pier was excellent and it was wonderful to have options to paddle board and kayak. Breakfast on the deck was very delicious every morning. The AC in our unit worked great and the sheets were so soft! There aren't many restaurants within walking distance (especially since there aren't really sidewalks) but a quick cab ride to West End will only cost $2 a person where there are many options. It was an excellent location to end of vacation and have a little quiet alone time.

My wife and I spent a full week at Puerto Azul and loved it. The breakfasts were great and helped kick the day off right. The hosts did a fantastic job directing us to places that met our wishes, their knowledge of the island was fantastic.

We just got back from a couple of weeks in Roatan with our family of 5. The first few days we decided to stay at Puerta Azul and it was amazing. Our kids simply loved that they could swim and snorkel off of the long dock, use the kayaks and paddle boards as much as they wanted. Talia, the owner, crafted the most delicious breakfasts every morning and was the best Roatan Sherpa one could ask for. When we return to Roatan we will certainly be spending more time at Puerta Azul.

This review is long overdue. Spent a week in Puerta Azul early march with my wife. Couldnt be happier with our choice. We like the quiet and slightly upscale. And we got exactly that with a great bang for the buck. See you again soon Puerta Azul xxx

My husband, best friend, and I stayed at the Puerta Azul In Sandy Bay for three nights in May, and then in West End for 4 nights. Puerta Azul was certainly quieter than Sandy Bay, so we pretty much hung out there and enjoyed the peace and quiet. We stayed in one of the newest cabins with a kitchenette, which was very convenient for cold drinks and snacks. It has a wonderful porch for drinking morning coffee. Every room has a five-gallon bottle of water provided.

The individual cabins are very private, but the common areas such as the palapa at the end of the pier and the dining area for the breakfasts (included) and the dinners (optional) provided time to visit with other travelers. (I decided it was like going to camp!) We really enjoyed learning about what other visitors had seen or done, and it helped us plan what we wanted to do the second half of the trip. The breakfasts were great, fresh and delicious. We had one evening meal at the Puerta Azul, and again, it was great. Talia, our hostess, was very laid back and helped us with getting drivers, etc. Leonardo took us to the Carambola Botanical Gardens there in Sandy Bay, and then. later in the week, he picked us up from West End to take us to Victor Bodden's Monkey Business for sloths, monkeys and macaws, then by boat to The Hole in the Wall for a great meal and beer, snorkeling in the mangroves, and then to Punta Gorda for Sunday afternoon dancing.

The location of the Puerta Azul is idyllic, and we relaxed at the palapa every night at sundown. The snorkeling was wonderful at Spooky Channel, just a short swim or kayak away. My husband went on a fishing trip with Tex, a guide that lives right next door.

One night the water was bioluminescent, and we took a quick swim; there were a few slight jellyfish stings so we didn't stay in too long! Coincidentally, this was the same night a couple of our party drank some OrangeBoom beer that we bought at the little store across from the carwash. We didn't realize until later that it is 12% alcohol! (But the water really was bioluminescent!!)
