“Great atmosphere, wonderful place”

Great place to spend your holiday in tropics. Friendly staff, excellent food, good snorkelling and diving. We really enjoyed our stay and recommend this place. The restaurant in the resort is one of the best on island.

Even before we were broken into and robbed while staying at Casa Cowee (a vrbo rental), we were taken by the floks at Blue Bahia. We would walk down the beach for an evening meal and always came back home with enough delicious left-overs for another couple of meals. The food is really excellent and moderately priced.
The the break-in at Casa Cowee (more on that in another post) and as word spread up and down the beach at Sandy Bay, Kent, the owner of Blue Bahia, was the first to show what a big heart he has. "Anything you need, just let me know. Money, place to stay, let me know". He was truly offended that the theft took place at Sandy Bay and tried all in his power to help us have good outcome.
The dive shop at Blue Bahia, Octupus, is simply wonderful. Eva and Ken know the reefs and waters like the locals they are and were always professional, upbeat and determined to give the best diving experience they could. We highly recommend them.
Roatan and Sandy Bay are changing. Lots of desperate people from mainland Honduras are coming out to the island, hoping for "easy pickins". They found it with us.
Rest assured though, you will have no problems if you stay at Blue Bahia. Kent has the respect and trust of the locals and runs a very tight ship. You can go there and feel very secure. We wish we would have bypassed Casa Cowee and Vrbo and gone straight to Blue Bahia.

This is a great place to stay and Kent the owner is exceptionally accomodating. The food was fantastic and his morning breakfasts really leave you full until dinner. We were traveling with our pet and he was very gracious and helpful. His staff is excellent. This is a very safe and comfortable place to stay. Hello to Boomba, Gimp and Blanca.

Staying at Blue Bahia was the best thing I have ever done. The place was clean, safe and fun. The staff were AMAZING and Kent and Lizette were the best. What ever we needed they made sure we had it. I will return there and I will only go there when I go to Roatan. If you want something that is clean and safe go there. Also the staff always had us laughing, at that resort it is one big happy family and its very welcoming and for myself I rather go there instead of going to an all inclusive resort. The food was awesome also.

THE place to go if you want a "hang loose" atmosphere without sacrificing service. Kent manages to combine layed back with getting it all done. The restaurant sat on a deck overlooking the beach. The menu was wicked good. Everything from fresh caught shellfish to my favorite, blue cheese and kalamata meat loaf. Octopus Dive is right on sight. Their boat leaves from the pier and takes you less than 5 minutes away for a breath-taking experience in the world's second largest coral reef. The West End was hopping on Friday night. The entire experience was carefree.

If you love a B&B style place right on the beach with a warm friendly staff and newly built cabins.....this is the place for you!
We had Christmas dinner there this year. Food was incredible and the resort was small, charming and warm. The location in Sandy Bay is a bit off the beaten track, but only 10 minutes drive to the action.
So, if you want a romantic or family style trip..... I highly recommend this hidden gem with very good rates!

We stayed at Blue Bahia for a week in October. The rooms are good, the staff excellent and Kent wonderful. Octopus Diving was great too. If you are a diver who doesn't mind fixing a few meals of your own, this is the place for you.

The are only three things I would say on the negative side. One is that the beach is not pretty. The water is murky near the shore and the turtle grass keeps anyone from wading in. There is snorkeling off the dock though.

Two, the BB does not have its own generator so you are at the mercy of country's electricty, which means multiple outtages, one lasting 8 hours. Finally, the food, though really good, is high priced. Lunch and dinner options are over $15 an entree, so for a family, eating there will add up fast.
