“Great, as Usual”
Reviewed August 11, 2014

We've stayed here before, and it continues to be outstanding as a well equipped, well located, well maintained place to stay. It is the Ritzr but is "the" place to stay unless you want to be pampered. Everything works, the pool is refreshing, the reef is a short swim away from their pier, and the restaurant on the premises is maybe the best on the island. Kent takes care of everyone so well!

Let me start by saying if you are looking for a 5 star accommodation this ain't it! However, "The Wave" room was extremely clean and had everything we needed other than my tempur medic! Kent is a VERY nice man and took care of everything we asked of him. The "resort" is very small but gave us everything we needed. The pool was fine, the 30 foot walk to the bar restaurant was awesome and the 20 foot walk to the Octopus Dive shop was fantastic. Maria the housekeeper was GREAT. A few things that we didn't complain about that could be fixed may be... new bed and pillows...the condo room upstairs sounded as if the tenants had cement blocks on their feet! Other than that the place was just fine for a stay for snorkelers or divers.

Room Tip: Go with something upstairs

Me, my husband and our 13 and 15 year old sons, stayed at the Blue Bahia from 6/7/14 to 6/15/14. I can't say enough good things about this resort. This is the first time I have ever written a review because our stay was so phenomenal I just had to do it. The owner of the resort, Kent, very patiently helped me with all of the details of our stay from setting us up with a great cab driver, George, to where and what we needed to see and do. He even provided us with Island cell phones for our stay. We stayed in the Loft which was quite nice and had ample room for the 4 of us (I have very tall men/boys in my family). The air conditioning worked great, the beds were super comfy, and the showers were nice and big. Both of our sons were PADI certified by the wonderful Octopus Dive School on site. We ate the vast majority of our exquisite meals at the Beach Grill restaurant on site. The owner, Rob, was a great guy and often there. All of the staff were awesome!!! Randy, Shawnee, Delmi (sorry about the spelling) were some of the most attentive and awesome wait staff I've ever had the pleasure of meeting. The cook, Billy, did a fantastic job on every meal we had (and I'm talking breakfast, lunch, and dinner). Everyone there just makes you feel at home. We went to the West End a few times and I'm so glad we stayed in Sandy Bay. It's an easy and inexpensive ride to West End and then you get to come back to the quiet beauty of Sandy Bay! We would DEFINITELY stay here again, and plan to sometime in the near future. I have nothing but great things to say about every aspect of our stay at the Blue Bahia!!! Thank you everyone there for such a memorable and excellent stay!!!!!!!

This is a good value place to stay yet very close and easy to get to the higher priced West End area where typically the dive shops and restaurants are located. The restaurant here is excellent with live music on Thursday and there are several other restaurants and a pizza place within walking distance. With the quiet beach, dock, nearby dolphins and what is described as some of the best snorkeling on the island, you can't beat the price and location of Blue Bahia.

My wife and I recently completed a third stay at the Blue Bahia, where we did some serious photography and good eating at the outstanding restaurant. Kent, the manager, bent over backwards to make our stay as smooth as possible. The genuinely warm staff made us feel at home. I love the almost Bohemian feel to the place, and the laid back location in Sandy Bay.

Room Tip: The room we had was called "Sea View" I think. Its a second floor room that overlooks the...

We stayed a week at the Blue Bahia Resort on Sandy Bay. We stayed in the Starry Nights condo which slept 4 comfortably. It was comfortable and clean, nothing fancy. The couches and kitchenware could use some updating, the beds were extremely comfortable, and the bathroom was really nice. Kent, the owner, was full of information and happy to help with all of the questions we had regarding the island. I really enjoyed staying here, it's out of the hustle and bustle of other parts of the island. Watch out for sand fleas!!! Bring your bug spray!!!

We didn't stay in the resort, but we stopped in a few times to enjoy some really good food and drink from the friendly staff and owners at Blue Bahia. There's always something on special on the board, whether it's lobster, shrimp, or 2 x 1 drinks, and it's all really good. They also make a mean pulled pork sandwich cooked up in their own smokers. The place is open from breakfast until late night, rare in Roatan.
