Having been to Roatan on three prior trips totaling 10 weeks stay time I invited my grand nephew and his wife to the island with me. I had visited the Blue Bahia two years prior for several meals and spent a good deal of time speaking with the owner Kent Burnes. My preparation for this return visit included numerous emails with Kent who was always helpful and informative. The facility is small and intimate (9 guest quarters) making it possible to meet and enjoy other patrons. Each "room" is more akin to an apartment, many with full kitchens and all are decorated in a unique and appealing manner. The employees are wonderful and friendly, the menu is outstanding (just ask the locals who eat there regularly) and Kent's imagination is reflected in the numerous menu offerings. I will return to Roatan and the Blue Bahia will be my destination. Thanks Kent! It was a great trip.

We fell in love with Roatan all over again at Blue Bahia. Kent & his crew honestly love what they do and it shows. Our room was clean, and the bed was heavenly. Everything and more than we needed was provided. Their food is phenomenal. All ingredients are fresh and local. I thought my husband would turn into a calamari or lobster while we were there. The ahi tuna is perfectly prepared. The macaws and parrots kept us entertained with their antics. Then there are the rescued resort dogs, Boombah & Gimp. We bonded immediately. Gimp would knock on our door with his head to get my husband to come out and walk around with him. Boombah would bark to come in. Kent told us that the day we left, the dogs laid by the door to our room, thinking we would return. Blue Bahia is a family and guests are welcome to become part of it. There is nothing that can compare to eating wonderful food in an open air setting, feeling the trade winds and looking out at the beautiful Caribbean. This is a little slice of heaven!

Room Tip: There are several upstairs rooms. A word of caution when it rains, the stairs can be very slippery.

My sister got married at the Blue Bahia. It was absolutely perfect! She didn't plan a thing...Kent took care of EVERYTHING. From the flowers and food to the ceremony and honeymoon suite, it all was perfect. This was more than a low-maintainence bride could ever dream of. Our family rented out the place for the week. It was private and intimate. It made for one of my favorite family vacations ever.

Better snorkeling right off this beach than the tour we paid for! Also dive shop right here for convenience. All the staff were friendly and helpful. Awesome food at the restaurant too!

The beds weren't luxurious, but after a few mojitos we didn't care! Also naps on the beach made up for it! Only negative were the sandflies...cover yourself with bugspray containing deet and you won't even notice them. But USE bugspray!

Thanks Kent for everything!

Spent a week just relaxing. Kent & crew are the best. Very freindly & met our every need. Food was excellent & very reasonably priced. It is away from the tourist traffic and the grounds are well shaded. Clean, comfortable rooms with kitchens & tv. Had an island wide power blackout one nite, so Kent served dinner by candle light. Most of staff speaks english, so no problems communicating. Kent's 2 dogs adopted us & would knock on our door for us to come out & play. The whole place was like a big family atmosphere. You could join the group, or just be by yourself. Totally laid back.
Bring Deep Woods Off for the bugs. We sprayed each morning & had no bug problems.
We will DEFINITELY go back next year !!

Room Tip: If you are not traveling with kids, get the upstairs rooms for the views

There have been many improvements on the property since my last visit. The restaurant has expanded complete with a smoker. Kent is an excellent host and his staff is very attentive. The rooms are very comfortable and the pool a nice place to lounge. This resort is central to everything on the island. They are about "center" to attractions in either direction.

The Blue Bahia is on a beautiful beach a little out of the busy tourist areas. The staff was happy and were very helpful to us. The restaurant had amazing food using fresh local ingredients. We prefer laid back but nice and that is how it was. The dive shop (Octupus Dive Shop) located on the premises was staffed by great instructors and helped us feel comfortable as we got our certification. Other more experienced divers also were very pleased. The other guests were similar to us and looking for a relaxing but active vacation. Kent (the owner) has a wealth of information about the island and we learned a lot from him. Absolutely a fantastic stay in a beautiful place! Jim Miller & Pamela Mills
