I stayed at Dos Mundos with my boyfriend fro a weekend on April of this year, and I must say I wasnt impressed. It was extremely corporate, and lacked the personal attention. It wasnt what I expected from a beach resort/hotel. The whole weekend, they had young people drinking at the pool side, and making way too much noise. We were expecting a rather relaxing weekend with a more mature environment, I felt as if I was on spring break in cancun. It looks impressive from the outside, and on pictures, but I wouldnt go back.

We spent three days in the Dos Mundos. The hotel was one km from the main street of Monte Rico, it was about 20 minutes walking. The hotel is right on the beautiful black sand beach. The staff was helpful, but their English was poor. There were two double beds and a refrigerator in the bungallow, but I missed the TV. Inspite of everyday cleaning, a lot of ants was in the hotel. The pool was clean, the garden is very nice and tidy. . The beach was clean, the waves were huge. There is a mangrove swamp near Monte Rico, but unfortunately we did not see crocodiles. There are no gift shops in the village, only a few small supermarket and some restaurant. All in all, in my openion the Dos Mundos is one of the best hotel in that area.

13 church members were on a mission trip and we stayed 2 nights. View of the Pacific was awesome, pools were clean, staff was attentive. Cabanas are in a garden-like setting and the pool overlooks the Pacific. Food was very good but a little pricey.

Room Tip: Stayed in rooms 4 and 11--4 was the quietest and 11 was noisy because it was close to the kitchen an...

dos mundos is an oasis on the beach in monterrico. accommodations are in the form of private villas, each with its own patio and hammocks, surrounding a central courtyard. great place to lay your head after a hard day's work lying on the beach! however the food is mediocre - much better fare is to be had a 10 min walk down the beach at other hotel restaurants, where you can enjoy freshly grilled pescado entero (whole fish) for the price of a plate of spaghetti at dos mundos.

We stayed here for two nights in February to relax after a week of volunteer work. The property is amazing - beautiful landscaping with 2 pools and 14 spacious thatched-roof bungalows with private shaded terraces with hammocks that are staggered to give each maximum quiet and privacy. The main pool, surrounded by palm trees, sits on a rise with an unobstructed ocean view and has plenty of seating in lounge chairs or under umbrellas and the bar, with excellent and reasonably priced drinks, is right by the pool. The pool area is nicely lit at night, and they play a nice variety of relaxing music. All-in-all, an excellent choice for a place to unwind and relax in luxury. The one unfortunate disadvantage we found was that the restaurant on site was expensive and the food very unremarkable. The dishes are mainly Italian (as the owners of the resort are from Italy) but most of us found them to be overpriced and not at all memorable. The restaurant staff, although very polite and trying to be helpful, were slow and seemed rather disorganized. Due to the location of the resort, a good 15-20 minute walk to the next nearest establishment, you don't have a lot of choices for alternatives for meals unless you have a car or are willing to make the walk. Our group walked down the beach the second night and found a comparable meal for about half the price. I hope that the food improves because in all other respects this is a delightful place and wonderful spot to escape to.

Dos Mundos is located 2km west of Monterrico. Taxis are not available so if you are not in a private car, pre-arrangements from the shuttle stop are necessary with luggage. Louis the hotel manager went out of his way to be accommodating & was extremely hospitable throughout our stay. We found the remaining staff to be helpful and courteous. Amenities often found in even limited service hotels were sparse but as long as you don’t come expecting these items, you will not be disappointed. Two pools – one infinity @ the ocean edge and one shallow pool – were more than ample for the 14 rooms. Limited access to/from Monterrico often requires meals at the on-site restaurant which we found to be not terribly expensive and with good choices – some items we just asked the staff to make for us were not on the menu. Although not swimmable, the black sand beach/surf was exactly what we were looking for – a perfect place to do absolutely nothing. If you are looking for a not-over-the-top hotel with impeccable service and an unmatched ocean sound/view, we would highly recommend Dos Mundos.

My wife and I stayed for 3 nights and 4 days earlier this week. We loved this resort!..The staff was wasome and we had a great time. Louis and Mary were great at the front desk. Mary is a fire cracker!! Our waiter....Mynor was great. Mt Italy patrolled the place and was great. The pool was the best we have been in. No chlorine smell and right by the beach with great views. Very relaxing with nice music. The restaurant was good and everyone new what we wanted and when.

We walked to town and enjoyed strolling along the main street with the roosters and pigs. The hardware store has great machete's for around $8.00.

Locals even gave us a ride back to the resort. We ate lunch at Johnny's and had a good time but don't stay there....it is a dump. Only stay at Dos Mundos!!!!!
