To be honest its the best place i have stayed and have been alot of hostels over the years,Europe,Asia,Central America.Of course its a party hostel and lots of fun to be had tubing, tours, and buses/collectivos to your next destination.I just dont agree with most of the reviews i`ve read about this place. We were ment to stay here two days and ended up staying here four. The view is amazing. As for the staff we thought that they were all honest and cool you have got to remember they see alot of people everyday its hard to remember faces and talk to everyone. And as for the food it can be slow at times tho good value and well presented, and also the buffet idea is a easier suggestion as its impossible to produce that volume of the main menu on one sitting .On the whole these guys have the right idea and we would love to see this place in a few years ... potential is unreal

We had quite a good stay at zephyr lodge. The bathroom in our private room didnt have a light so we had to use flashlights and it was under construction while we were there. The area outside the window of the bed was terrible because of the construction going on there. People next door could easily walk out and have a look at you while you are in your room. So not much privacy in our private room. Lennart was super nice and very friendly ! Rest of the staff not so much. They also wanted to have a bbq one night where they took off all the other food that was usually available on the menu. You were forced to have bbq at a certain time. Since we wanted to get up early we didnt want to have bbq and ordered 3 plates of fries instead since there werent anything else to order to fill us up other than other snacks. If you dont want to party and drink this hostel is not for you! Though waking up to the view was amazing and very relaxing.

We spendt 4 nights there in a brand new bungalow a bit apart from the main buildings. view and location were great! and it was quiet too (over there at least). new years celebration was awesome, great food for usual guatemala-prices, fantastic veggie options. you won't find better food in town in that price range, definitely. you dont have to pay drinks and food all the time, you get everything confortable on account. offers for (bus) trips to other places are decent and honest. so we found out that we payed double to get there (not their fault of course). it was superclean at all time! the staff wiped all floors at least once a day, the bathrooms and showers were cleaned even more. The only drawback is the lack of curtains, we had hoped getting a bit more privacy.

Room Tip: I wouldnt book in advance in general, look at the rooms and decide.

My friend and I stayed here for one night-probably the worst night of sleep either org us has gotten on our trip. I wish we had done a little more research before staying here.

The lodge is in a beautiful location and has great views. You can walk down to the river if you want to swim. It is very relaxing to hang out on their patio in the afternoon when it's quiet.

As good as the surroundings are, by the early evening the place clearly is heading toward a raging party. We went to bed around 9 as we were very tired. I don't expect people to be quiet that early but the bar was blasting music and people were very loud until 2 AM. At one point the staff tried to turn the music down but people protested and they turned it back up. Some people leaving to go back to a different hotel got every dog in the nearby houses barking- very disrespectful to the locals. Needless to say we did not sleep very much.

Although definitely more expensive than in town, their food is pretty good and you can get lots of fruit. They also have some vegetarian options like falafel and other things. The service is a bit slow. Although they have free water, you have to pay for every cup of coffee you drink (no free refills) and it seems like they try to nickel and dime you a bit by charging extra if you want bacon or peanut butter or Nutella. That being said it is pretty amazing they have all the food options in such a remote location.

The bottom line: If you're in the 18-23 bracket and want your experience in Guatemala to be all about partying than this is the place for you.

After getting screwed over by a tour company in Flores ( Mayan Princess, Jimmy). Chris, the owner spent much time and effort to get a refund and handed us cash. Rest of the staff Julie, dedir and Lennart were awesome. Amazing view. I camped so can't comment on the rooms.

Only bad part is there is no kitchen and they don't allow outside food or booze so it can add up fast

We stayed for 4 nights (4th night is free), the staff were amazing, the view was incredible, the food was great, the showers were incredible and hot water! Julie, dieter, Brenda, Leonard and all the Guatemalan volunteers especially Anna were so lovely!!! We had a great experience and I would recommend it to anyone keen for a party hostel!! Can't believe some of the bad reviews here! They have more plans to make it even better so I'd be keen to see it in a few more years!!

First of all- lanquin and Semuc champey are beautiful places and the view from the hostel is great! We had an amazing experience despite everything you will read here: We booked a private room and got a nice room, but- the balcony wasn't finished and looked like a construction site. It was very disappointed (because the main thing in this place is the view..). We didn't know about the construction until we got there of course. The shower in the private room was cold. They forfgot to mention that there are hot water only in the shared showers. (those are really amazing, open with view- but they were cold when we tried them because of electricity problems or something).
Just for the balance- the atmosphere is excelent- many young people, and nice staff.
And the story continues- the next day we moved to another room, with shared bathroom. We got a room in the new building- 3 stories high. We got a cool room with only a bad and a large window, but it didn't have a lock or a possibility to close the door at all. What's wrong with you? I think it's a basic thing, especially in a private room for 2. The room, althogh far from the restaurant was extremly noisy. Remember the constructions? At 7:30 am we woke up from drilling noises..
On top of everyting the wifi didn't work- and i agree with the last reviews- 5% for service in this kind of place is just greedy.
The place has huge potential, but they better get it together. The party can easly move to another place.
