“Must visit”
Reviewed May 19, 2013

You could easily spend a week here relaxing in the town, travelling to the other lakeside towns and villages and taking boat trips. It's a gem.

“Stunning Ohrid Lake..”

Lake Ohrid is just gorgeous. Beautiful sunsets. The water is so calm and crystal clear. Wonderful spot for a swim in the summer. Beaches galore. One of my favourite places.

“Huge, beautiful lake, cobbled streets and great nights out!”
Reviewed March 5, 2013

Ohrid is one of the hidden gems of Europe. It isn't easy to get to (if you fly into Skopje it's a 3-4 hour car journey away) but once you get there it is so worth the journey. The lake is ABSOLUTELY STUNNING, one of the oldest in Europe (bordering Albania). If you have a car you can drive about 30km down the coastline from Ohrid itself down to Sveti Naum, stopping along lots of little beaches along the way. You must visit the springs in Sveti Naum (go on one of the little boats for a tour) and Biljanini Izvori (Ohrid town). the Old Town in Ohrid itself has many shops and good restaurants. Cobbled streets and beautiful houses. Live music at night. There are some really great bars - go on a night out in Ohrid and you can guarantee you will have an amazing time. Retail shops are open till really late - ladies, you must buy some pearls from Ohrid (it is famed for its pearls). I would also visit Gradiste Beach, a few kilometes away from Ohrid. Caneo is also somewhere not to be missed. There are 366 churches in Ohrid. It is a town rich in culture which has thousands of years of history (it is UNESCO protected). I truly recommend it!!
