This is the third hotel we have stayed in around Sharm. The staff were so helpful and friendly. On arrival we were expedited to our room despite there being a queue of people waiting to check in.

We were told that as we were European we were entitled to a free upgrade allowing us to eat in a new restaurant for breakfast and dinner. Waiter service. Four course dinner menu. Bottles of good quality wine. Civilised atmosphere and best of all NO QUEUING. No big Russians pushing and shoving. Nabil Elia and his team Tarek and Mohamed looked after all our needs.

The room was spotlessly clean every day. We had asked for a ground floor room with a double bed. But found ourselves on the third floor in a twin room. We were immediately offered another room for the next day, but after all the travelling, we decided to stay where we were.

The food at lunch time was basic in the pool area, and we did get tired of burger and chips however, at the beach restaurant for a reasonable charge we enjoyed a fresh lobster lunch.

The main restaurant was another option for lunch, but it was a little like joining a scrum and emphasised the efforts being made by the hotel for our breakfast and dinner services.

The animation team were all enthusiastic, and welcoming especially, Tom, Lauren and Shelby, asking us if we would like to join in with various activities, but not to the point of harassment.

The 24 hour bar service was an added bonus, although, I can honestly say we didn't drink any more than we would have normally, but it was nice to be able to sit and chat till quite late with friends, even if we only had a coffee.

The only improvement, that could be made as we were a little put out, as we checked out our wristbands were removed, baring in mind we had not arrived until after 7pm on our first day, however our transfer was not due to collect us until 15.30, we were given a voucher for lunch as book out time is officially 12pm, but once the wristbands were off we were forced to wait in reception, without even being able to get a coffee without paying. This could be something management could look into as I felt we had paid enough, to still have our bands until our transfer taxi arrived.

Overall a really great holiday and a refreshing change to be given such good treatment, some Britis did say that they didn't agree with the segregation, I must say thou this was only one Scottish couple! however, we British have extremely good manners and will queue and wait our turn, whereas the majority of other visitors to Sharm, have not even been brought up to believe in the basics, of Please and Thank you or excuse me! And quite frankly spoke to the staff like they were servants - whereas we Brits treat people the way we would expect to be treated.

Room Tip: Try not to get a third floor room beginning 13 as there are 6 flights of stairs and no lifts. Hard work if you are a bit older or not particularly fit like me.

This is our second visit to the amwaj hotel first time was two years ago nad had a lovely time, but this time it was better as the new owners of the hotel have made improvements to the hotel.
We stayed on the left hand side to the main pool overlooking the well tended gardens, the room very spacious with a comfortable king size bed satellite tv with a few English channels mini bar fridge filled on request, we just used it for keeping our water cold. Yes the bathrooms are a little bit tired, but whilst we where there rooms were being updated can't comment on if the bathrooms were being done. We had mohammad as our house keeper always polite asking if we needed anything and leaving us our daily towel sculptors well done and thank you mohammad.
Main pool was cold had smaller heated pool to one side, we used the main pool just to cool off and then back on the sun bedswhich had comfortable thick mattresses.
Pool bar and snack bar very good mini pizzas and burgers served with chips and small salad, Ali at the pool bar always willing to have a chat to the guests very polite and friendly bar serves beer, vodka, gin, rum whiskey and brandy and the usual soft drinks. Self serve tea and coffee cold juices and water dispenser to refill your bottles.

The biggest change to the hotel is the restaurants, main buffet is upstairs just of the reception area used it once for lunch rest of week we ate at the pool snack bar or the beach restaurant.
Breakfast and dinner we had in the new European restaurant downstairs next to the Italian restaurant. In this new restaurant you will be greeted by nabil and his two waiters mohammad and anwar they served us every morning and evening always polite and a friendly smile we had lots of fun with them all, Nabil and his staff are very hard working making the guests stay enjoyable and relaxed, the food in this restaurant was always top notch of menu three choices each night well done Nabil, anwar and mohammad thank you for making our stay memorable and fun.

If you need any special requests for your stay contact ahmed al agamy front of house manager and he will do his best.
The new owners are making improvements but it will take time but so far its better than our first stay.
This hotel was the first holiday hotel we have returned to and it will not be the last.
well done to all the staff at the amwaj.
see you soon thanks.

Ok, I will try to be as factual as possible since I am positive Mr Ahmed El Agamy and senior Manager will add comments to below!. On first arrival we upgraded to Sultan for £217, I anticipate a deluxe experience, our luggage was handled with care and delivered to our standard sea view 3 star room 1238, even though we anticipated a deluxe room. Before we got to our room I was suspiciously approached direct from the manager in the basement directly even though I obviously had never met him, regarding my negative previous short review regarding difficulty in contacting them (he seemed more concerned that I removed it so as not to damage the rating).

We loved our holiday at The Amwaj, the food in the Terrace restaurant was excellent,so were the staff,Anwar Tarek and Nabil, nothing was to much trouble for them. The Oyoun restaurant also served some lovely food but sometimes we felt it abit uncivilized, to much pushing, we brits always queue, others dont!. The staff in the whole of the hotel were always friendly and very obligeing. Our room was very clean but in need of abit of tlc, they are abit tired. The hotel is in a perfert position and caters for all ages, the music round the pool wasnt our taste but you cant please everyone. The animation team have a very hard job pleasing all different people but do there best, i must say Lauren always made time to have a chat and make sure we were enjoying ourselves and Tom arrived just before we left, he will fit right in with his cheeky chappy personality. WE WILL RETURN and thanks for a great hoilday.
