We stayed at the Grand Plaza for one week and wished we could stay longer! The location of the hotel is perfect with excellent snorkelling off the jetty, The staff were all very friendly although we did get a little fed up of reps trying to sell you trips/ spa etc however the spa is worth a visit and the diving is amazing!
The rooms were very clean and the the grounds were kept beautifully, as were the pools.
The food was very good especially at the star fish restaurant which we visited for a special birthday and received a very warm welcome and a birthday cake.

Me and my friend had a fantastic time.
The staff was so welcoming and polite.
The thing i most enjoyed was the Rivera restaurant , where I ate most often .
The food was amazing. A very big variety of choices. My eyes wanted more than my belly could handle ! :) I was observing how they worked and I was very proud of how organised they were ! Just jumping around and helping everyone they could to satisfy their customers,
especially Mr Mohammed El Sayed Abdalla ( assistant of food & beverage )
From what i could tell he really loved performing his job .
He definitely worked more than he was expected to . ( more than he was told to )
Just buzzing around and taking any opportunities he could to help the staff & the guests .
I was most definately impressed !
We would definitely come back here ! - no doubt !

Me and my boyfriend stayed at the Grand Sharm Plaza for two weeks in September. We were a little worried due to reading some of the reviews but after our first night, all our worries quickly vanished.

We checked in straight away with no problems at all. Ihab at reception was excellent - he told us that he had upgraded us to a room with a sea and pool view - with it being dark we couldn't make out the sea, but the next morning we discovered that our view was incredible! Bags taken up to our room for us, to a room with two king sized beds!

The room was absolutely spotless and kept to this standard throughout the entire 2 weeks. A bottle of water is left for you every day as well as clean towels. They also tend to tidy up, put your posessions in neat little piles and make swans from your towels - we found this quite sweet! Our room had a balcony which was lovely to sit out on in the evening, but was not used much during the day as it was too hot outside to not be near a swimming pool!

The grounds are again absolutely spotless and really beautiful. There are always staff around either gardening, cleaning or checking that everything is working OK. We had a power cut one night and were without air conditioning - they did their best to try to sort it and sent everyone a letter to explain the situation and to apologise. I guess this happens to the best of places sometimes, and it wasn't something which could be helped.

The staff go out of their way to help you. We mainly stayed around the Nino pool as this was close to our room but also seemed to be where most of the Brits were (about 10% British and the rest Russian/Italian). The Nino bar is great, never had to wait more than 1 minute in the day to get a drink. Mohammed Mahmoud was excellent and served everyone as quickly as possible. Politeness goes a long way here and a simple 'please' and 'thankyou' is much appreciated.

We used the beach quite a lot as there was always a sunbed available and the snorkelling there was simply amazing. Go off the jetty and you will see hundreds of fish - it was a bit daunting though as when I looked down, it was a sheer drop and couldn't see the bottom which surprised me as it is only a little way out into the sea. The only bad thing about the beach is the constant Italian Alpitour reps. SO irritating and spent all day walking up the beach singing and shouting to each other and to clearly uninterested people trying to have some peace and quiet. I don't think they are capable of talking normally!

The entertainment was pretty poor but then we didn't come here for this. It is mainly aimed at Europeans but there are a couple of nights which are aimed at the English. We didn't tend to bother with this, and spent most of our nights at the Luna Bar (by the Startfish Restaurant) where the music was generally OK and got quite busy at the weekends.

The food was a lot better than I thought it was going to be. There was genuinely always something to eat and we found the best nights were the German/Austrian and the Oriental nights. Even the British night wasn't too bad! We ate at the Palmera Restaurant every night and either the Riviera Restaurant or the grill on the beach for lunch. All the restaurants were lovely and you are taken care of by all the staff.

We only did one excursion and we chose to go Camel riding. This was an experience! I recommend doing this for sure as it is fairly cheap (about £15 English money - see a guy called Alberto!) and it is quite entertaining getting on/off the camels! There are quite a lot of people coming round to ask if you would like a massage or a wax when you are by the pool. One of the Magic Hands guys (Jamaica!?) kept pestering my boyfriend to get his eyebrows plucked, his beard shaved or his chest waxed, but by the end of it we became friends and he tended to just come over for a chat!

There are a few shops located near to the reception, and the one place I would strongly recommend you visit is Aladin in his perfume shop. He is so hospitable and while you are in there you will feel so relaxed. He gives you a Mint Tea (which is great for settling your stomach) or a very, very strong Coffee! He is so genuine, and while he is trying to sell you something, he won't let you leave with something you don't want. He is very generous and kind and gave me Aloe Vera for my sunburn, which is brilliant for eczema as well. An absolute gentleman!

All in all this hotel was excellent. The staff are so hard working it puts us to shame! So Thankyou for a very memorable and truly brilliant holiday!

Sophie & Stephen (Cornwall).

I read the reviews including one, which said guests were busy ordering KFC, Pizza Hut & McDonalds cannot imagine if the reviewer was referring to the same hotel. We were a party of eight holidaying in mid August and at the height of Ramadan. Five Stars it certainly isn’t, as compared to the Diagonal Mar Hilton in Barcelona or the Renaissance Marriott in
La Defence Paris both of which were quite exceptional. The general concusses of all the party and fellow guests we spoke to are that a hostel it isn’t Three Star Plus best fits the category.

There is a distinct divide amongst the guests based largely on their nationalities the Russians & other East Europeans, the Italian and then the British and throughout our 10 day stay we all largely keep apart none making any particular effort to mix. The hotel management urgently need to reassess their strategy taking to departing guests on arrival they mentioned a bias towards East European and Italians guests as emphatically demonstrated by the food served in the restaurants a daily diet Italian cuisine (pasta in its many disguises), so if other guests are not to be alienated then it’s a must.

The food is pretty much the same despite theme nights, it ranges from poor to exceptional however, self-serve is not applicable when near 200 and people are handling the various serving bowls, ladles etc. If you are vegetarian or vegan then there is very little for you to eat, Pea Soup served as Vegetarian in fact had dices beef! Labelling is way sort of the mark so if you have an allergy is very careful. I would certainly not have tolerated the behaviour of some fellow guests in particular the behaviour of some guests stuffing bread roles & fresh fruits into handbags. However, these matters aside the food was occasion quite exceptional.

The most infuriating and disappointing aspect of our stay was the conduct of the Tour Reps from Alpi Tour, who cater solely for Italian guests. The business relationship the hotel has with Alpi Tour should not be at the expense of another guests and nationalities. The loutish behaviour of some of the reps was hard to stomach on a par with the constant harassment by reps from the Fitness, Message & Spa Centre as you lay by the pool or on the beach. On at least two occasions restaurant staff and the manager stood by whilst the same rep choose to conduct a private conversation in earshot of all the dinners. This was even more annoying as his fellow reps did nothing to stop this behaviour; it took a compatriot to invite him to step outside that this loutish behaviour stop.

The one aspect we found extremely disturbing and exasperating was the conduct of shopkeeper’s not content with haranguing you some went so far as to make quite personal remarks about female members of the party, it’s not always so easy, but would say that it’s the best just to keep walking.

It’s a fact that not every aspect of the hotel was to the liking of each one of us and a number of changes which are required some essential others minor. We all agreed that the rooms need some form of refurbishment particularly the bathrooms, a fresh coat of paint and TV’s that are not from a bygone age are starting points. If the rooms were like the reception area and foyer, it certainly makes a difference.

Overall I’d like to complement the staff and management, they were quite exceptional attentive, caring and courteous without exception from the Gardner to the Head Chef. This is something a number of other well-established hotels can take note.

I have recently come back from Sharm with my partner and we both wanted to go to simply do nothing and you could exactly that here!! The staff were excellent friendly and helpful, nothing was too much trouble for them, especially if a tip is involved but its not essential, rooms were cleaned daily and to a high standard and the air con was excellent sometimes to cold, but it was nice.

The food can get repetitive but what do you expect in an all inclusive, we did go out a few times to hard rock cafe in naama bay, a chinese about a 5 mins cab ride away or 15 min walk if you turn right out of the hotel and keep walking called Peking Chinese (along those lines) and we also ordered a Maccy D's one night!! However, the food there was very nice, always hot and plenty of it.

If you want to go to a more loud and fun pool go to the one down the bottom but expect to be bombarded with russians!! The british pool is right by reception and not that busy, very relaxing. We stayed by the 'lazy river', it was perfect, hardly anyone sat there and you felt very relaxed as it wasnt loud with loads of people and good for a tan laying there.

There is an ampitheatre and entertainment there in the evening and a bit down by the busy pool but not much entertainment at all, which was fine for use because we werent bothered!!

The hotel is absolutely spotless with what seemed like 24 hour cleaners and gardners.

There is a good taxi service. Naama Bay is 80 at the most and the airport is 50ish, they will try and charge you more.

They do hassle you alot so you simply have to say NO and they leave you alone and girls/women they will look no doubt about it!!

Lots of different people came round the pool selling excursions, we went on the quad bikes which were good, we went privately so it was a bit more expensive but it was worth the money and you can snorkel for free of the jetty if you buy the gear yourself. Try and go on quad biked as early as possible even at times like 4 in the morning but it cooler and friends we met advised us its the best time however we could go until 8. Privately your looking at 350 egyptian pounds each and in group about 230!!1 Scarfs you wear are 20 each so try an take your down and wear glasses or goggles but sand in your isnt fun and closed shoes!

For a week or however long you for, for relaxation, peace and no interuption this hotel is perfect, so many couples there and a few families.

A week werent long enough i think 10 days would be just right.

1st time we have been to egypt and a beautiful country with beautiful weather, the grand plaza is a lovely hotel.the staff who clean the rooms work very hard, the gym is adequate the swimming pool beautiful, you will be able to watch at least one good film in english when you go back to your room at night, that is the plus points . on the down side when the weather is over 100 degrees and you are all inclusive you dont need someone selling you lollypops they should be readily available. a little cornet of ice-cream was available every other day if you wanted to cue after dinner, all the A-I we have been to previously all had cheap wine serve yourself. not here . you have to cue.also most A-I have barb-q food in the afternoon not here you have 2 little chicken sausages in a little roll with chips every day. i asked a holiday maker not to smoke in the swimming pool . dont know why i bothered the next day i saw one of the waiters give a girl a light in the pool dont they realise that the ash will drop of the ciggy eventually. food was mostly poor having said that a enjoyable holiday. make sure you take somesort of imodium or something,

We regret that you could not enjoy our daily circular menu snacks served on at the two pool bars. BBQ is served at the Grill House every day for lunch time. Also at the Luna Snack area there are daily Burgers, Fish and Chip’s and daily specials available. Dinner buffet is served in two main restaurants with a fourteen days rolling menu based on daily changing themes.
Of course smoking in the pool is not permitted; a talk with all out-door staff members took place already and we are confident this won’t happen again.

We thank you once again for your comments and we sincerely hope that we will welcome you to Sharm Grand Plaza Resort again.
