I approached this holiday with a certain amount of trepidation after a miserable time at Sensatori Sharm last year, however I was really pleasantly surprised. The hotel was fab, lots of room for sunbathing so you're not all sitting on top of one another around the pools. The room wasn't massively fancy but it was clean and had everything we required plus it was really spacious. The buffet restaurant was fine, there was a good variety of food.I am quite a picky eater and was delighted to see that they had always had a selection of dishes prepared freshly in front of you so you didn't just have to select from the buffet options. We did, however, reach the "buffet wall" by day 5 so we mixed it up and went to the Chinese restaurant, whilst not the best Chinese food I have ever eaten it was a nice departure to be served rather than having to do the serving. There a lot of folks trying to sell you trips whilst you sunbathe but we found they respected the fact that we were absolutely not going to do any day trips and just said a quick hello as they passed by as opposed to doing a hard sell for the rest of the week. We loved the resort so much we didn't actually leave it for the entire week we were there, we did all of our shopping in the onsite shops. Kudos to Peter in the handbag shop and Abdullah in the watch shop, they both offer excellent service and value for money. If you go to this resort, don't waste your time haggling in Soho Square or Naama Bay, it's much more relaxing to do a quick post dinner shopping trip within the resort. On the whole, we foiund the staff fantastic, admittedly they did slightly "up the ante" on the our last day to secure a tip, but they worked so hard for us all week, they deserved it. The evening entertainment is OK, we had two girl singers at the beginning of the week who were amazing, followed by two very lovely, but mediocre singers for the final part of the week. It was great to see the waiters put down their trays and join in with the dancing. The only criticism with regard to staff is that the reception folks were a little rude. I travel a lot with my job and am used to staying in top class hotels in the US and Asia, the Jaz Mirabel outdid those hotels in terms of warmth and really making you feel that were truly on holiday. I would definitely recommend this hotel, we may well return next year.
