We just returned from a 10 day stay at the Jaz Mirabel Beach. We have two young children, one 4 1/2, the other one is just 1. As a result we were looking for a place to kick back and enjoy the fine weather in Egypt. We have stated in a lot of nice hotels over the years, and we are used to good service...

The good news is that the hotel looks great, pool area is great and the heated pools were a bonus (although they were just turning the heating off as the temperatures were warming up). Lots of shaded places to sit near the pools and near the beach. The family rooms were good, but not spectacular and the housekeeping was great.

The kids entertainment was Pretty good. The kids club was run mornings and afternoons, and had good staff. The activities were not as structured as at Sensatori resorts, but our 4 year old daughter really enjoyed it. They also had a great kids 'disco' dancing session every night which our daughter loved.

The bad bits:

Perhaps we have been spoiled, but the family restaurant was a big disappointment. Here is why:
1. Cleanliness was poor - high chairs were often left uncleared (although it improved a bit after my wife made a fuss). Tables were not always wiped down.
2. The food was not the best: lots of fried food, bread was often stale, meat was not always of the best quality, lots of canteen style dishes. Lots of artificial cream in the deserts, and quite a lot of stale cakes. The more Egyptian/Arabic dishes were better.
3. Drinks service in the restaurant was virtually non existent: you basically have to help yourself to all drinks, including balancing piping hot cappuccino, whilst trying to get past a lot of people rushing through the doors to get to their food.
4. Forget a seating service: find yourself a seat and if you arrive toward the end of the session most of the tables and uncleared and dirty.
5. The restaurant staff were at least busy, although often doing the wrong thing: cleaning the windows when they should have been clearing or serving drinks.
Overalll compared to Sensatori resorts the restaurant has a long way to go!!!!!

The bar staff: both at the pool and in the bar area - there are a few bar staff; they identify the people they think might be big tippers and try to look after them. Nobody came up to us in the bar area or by the pool over the first 4-5 days to offer us a drink.

Overall: We enjoyed the break but too many niggles with this place to really recommend it.

We have just returned from the Jaz Mirabel Beach and we had a fantastic week there? We arrived at the hotel at about 9.30 in the evening and once checked in we were taken on golf buggies to our 2 rooms. There was a late meal arranged in the adjoining mirabel park hotel and this was available until about midnight.
We had 2 family rooms together. Both were clean and comfortable with air con. Beds were comfy and the single beds were perfectly ok for an adult. Rooms cleaned daily and towels replaced as often as you want.thomsons provide soft drinks in mini fridge free of charge and you can top up from the on site shops. Bottles of water also provided daily in the rooms and you can also get them from restaurants. Towel art every day was great and got larger and more imaginative as the week progressed. Housekeeping staff always around in the corridors would ask if all was ok with our rooms and keen to please.
Food was plentiful and varied each day. You can eat all day if you want! We liked the fact that there was a family restaurant and an adult restaurant. Both had the same food but I am a bit out of touch with little ones and preferred the calmer adult only environment. Much less chaotic, quieter and the service was better here. Likewise the family restaurant was geared up for kids with high chairs and mini tables and chairs.
My husband and daughter completed their PADI diving courses. They did the theory and confined dives in the uk and did their open dives in the Red Sea with Ocean College who were great. Booked this through thomsons as they are a British run dive school. If you want to learn to dive get your theory done before you go as otherwise you end up wasting 2 days of your holiday in a classroom!
Anyway all in all we had a fab time and can't wait to go back. An excellent hotel with excellent staff.
If anyone else was there on the 7th April - did you feel the earth tremor at about 5.30 pm? Would be interested to know. We were in the lobby and saw those huge chandeliers shake like mad!

not long back from a weeks holiday at the jaz mirabel beach hotel, the lobby entrance to the hotel is very impressive and you get a good vibe as soon as you enter the hotel. Check-in was fast and efficient we were driven to our room by golf cart the room was spacious and spotless and had a balcony over looking one of the pools, the shower room was big and there was a seating area as well, for a standard room one of the best we have stayed in. The swimming pools are spotless as well as the grounds and beach. there are two dining areas next to the pools as well as the main restaurant the Italian, Asian and Lebanese but you are only allowed one as your all inclusive the other s you have to pay. the food is excellent no tummy upsets
we did the vip snorkel trip was very good and the lunch on the boat was excellent ,down side was that you had to pay extra for your snorkel and flippers which is a first for us when booking a trip through the Thomson rep but well worth the trip for the areas that they take you to for snorkelling. we also took a taxi to soho square first impression was modern and clean but managed to walk round it in 30 minutes and that's being generous the ice bar wanted £15 admission pp best get a single taxi as their are loads waitng to take you back and get a fixed price .
what made our holiday most enjoyable was the service provided to us from the two bar boys MeMe and Osama (nearest poolbar ) to the beach , they both gave excellent service and kept the tables free from empty glasses, always a smile on there faces and could not do enough for you.
if your looking for a relaxed holiday this is the place to go
but may be busier during the summer months

Just returned yesterday from a week at the JMH - fantastic! For a family holiday it cannot be faulted, good quality food, good choice of food, excellent service [ particularly Hussein..] and a spotlessly clean environment. Loved the towel art that was done every day in our room overlooking the sea/pool . Entertainment was, I think, what you'd expect for a family hotel, but it certainly suited our needs.Staff were courteous and in general couldn't do enough for us. The area is safe, and you rarely get 'pestered' if you stick to being firm but polite with the shop owners.
Would most definitely go again...

Room Tip: Email the hotel before you go with your requirements, they met all ours! Ask for a family room near the beach/end pool - much quieter at night.

We have just returned from a weeks stay at the Jaz Mirabel Beach. Having been very fortunate to have been to the Maldives the year before we were a little worried that the comparing of such an experience would blight any future holiday views...... believe me, this was almost as good! The hotel is IMMACULATE and caters for all different groups, families, couples etc. We travelled without our teenage children for a relaxing week and we got it, despite it being a family hotel too. It is so big that you never feel crowded. The fact that it is adjacent to the beach is a big plus, we had a beach view apartment and it literally took us 2 minutes to walk to the beach. The staff are so friendly, and I must mention OSAMA and MEME from the Las Palms Bar who are Egypts answer to 'Ant and Dec'! They never stopped smiling and were constantly serving you, and remembered your drinks! They did a lovely gin and tonic at the end of the day (5pm) and lovely cocktails and they always remembered my coffee! You had people coming up to you asking you to participate in scuba diving, camel rides, boat trips etc but if you said "no thankyou", they did not pester you which is a change to some countries. This is a PERFECT holiday for all, especially people with children. The food was lovely and the staff in the restaurant were wonderful. If I had anything 'negative' to say (and I say this lightly) is due to the size of the complex they would do well to have a Bureau de Change on site as we ordered currency from our bank in the UK and came with 100 and 200 notes (about £10 and £20 notes in sterling) and it is very difficult to change them. There is an area of shops on site but they didn't tend to have much change and the reception couldn't change them. The staff expect tips, and rightly so, but to tip 200 a time is a lot (even though they deserve it). Therefore, if you are going, make sure you take 10's and 20's in Egyptian notes. The other thing that would improve it is due to the WIFI signal being quite weak and only available in reception, you cannot get a connection if there are a few people accessing their phones. People may say you are on 'holiday', and you shouldn't be accessing WIFI, but reality is, we live in a world where people have internet access on tap and a quick check of the emails whilst having a G&T is no harm! The transfer is only about 20 minutes away from the airport which is a plus. The weather was beautiful (34 degrees) but I am not sure I would stay in August (apparently reaches 49 degrees) as I think it would be too hot (for me anyway) and probably too hot for children. The breeze is lovely on the beach and when the tide goes out you can walk ankle deep out to the ship wreck in the sea (watch out for the black sea urchins though!). No worry about sunbed hunting - nothing worse that running to put towels out early morning - you don't have to do that there, plenty of sunbeds available both around the huge amount of pools and the beach. All in all, a close second to the Maldives and we will definitely be going back!

Room Tip: All rooms look well located. If you fancy the beach, ask for a beach view as you are literally 2 minute walk. The ones nearer the hotel reception are pool view but are great if you have kids. The beach view apartments seem quieter but it isn't a noisy complex anyway.
