“Relaxing break”
Reviewed October 9, 2013

Spent 2 weeks at this hotel. Staff very attentive and soon worked out your likes. Excellent value and spotlessly clean. Fresh croissants baked daily was a lovely touch. There is a choice of 4 restaurants so always something to eat. We would check out the restaurants and cherry pick a little from each one. There were grill options outside and pancakes available from 7-9pm every evening. The coffee bar was very popular after our evening meal.
The beach bar served snacks from 12-2.30 and the waiters soon new what you liked to drink and have them ready for you. The cocktails were a lovely change from wine and beer, I think we sampled most of them, both alcoholic and non alcoholic.
The jetty was very long, so if you wanted to cool off, it was 910 paces, approx 600 metres! Our only gripe would be that we were constantly pestered by the local women, selling jewellery and they would always come at mealtimes, begging for food and drink, on our last day, one of the children threw sand at us!! It would not put us off coming again, but I would probably sit further up the beach. We didn't sample the SPA, but it was very impressive. All in all it was a lovely holiday and I have recommended it too my family who have children. We had no issues with security and felt very safe here

Room Tip: we stayed in room 533, this was probably one of the smaller rooms, but adequate for our needs. Bathr...

just got back from 10 days at the royal albatros.
check in was very quick and our cases where at our room swiftley.
our room was facing the activity pool which was nice but had emailed the hotel to have two rooms facing the relaxation pool (never mind but the rooms over their were the best in my opinion)
big hotel with staff cleaning 24/7 and service was excellent
food i struggled with but my family always found something to eat.
very easy to find a spot near the pool and the bar staff both day and night would always bring you drinks over no problem.
cannot compare this hotel as first time but i would like to thank the hotel staff and the guys in the shopping complex out side for being so welcoming unlike the vast amount of russians in this hotel which i hope not to enjoy your company ever again
sorry
all in all great relaxing holiday with no major issues
thank you to you all at the albatros
kind regards chris

Room Tip: relaxation pool rooms are the ones to go for

One of the best hotels we have been to in a while and can not wait to go back. Had a room looking over the activity pool. It was large and spacious and kept very very clean. Any faults corrected within minutes. Great towel sculptures!!! Was central and not far from beach in one direction and bars and restaraunts in the other. We preferred the relaxation pool but did go to beach a few times which had great beach bar with comfy chairs to have a late afternoon drink an chill. Walkway to see coral and snorkelling is a long walk but seats and loungers to rest on and enjoy the views which are great. Fish spotting was also amazing. Food and drink was plentiful and very fresh. Loved the omelettes, pasta's and soups. Also late dinner so if you fancied supper or missed dinner was great idea. Fav places was coffee shop better then costa and great service and doughnut bar, yummy. Services in bars was good with waiters bringing drinks sometimes before you had finished last one. A big thanks to all the staff. Waiter service for drinks in restaraunts could have been better but did not spoil enjoyment. If you look really close and it needs to be close you can find some faults but why waste your holiday finding faults??!!! The RAM is very very clean we witnessed window cleaning and chandeliers been cleaned. Everyone from gardeners upwards were always smiling and said hello. Disappointed that the shops had been closed because did not really want to walk outside hotel as it was too far and too hot. Entertainment better then most hotels in Egypt as well. Overall a very enjoyable holiday and will defiantly be going back next year. Ignore bad comments on TA and give it a go.

We booked the Royal Albatros without any prior knowledge and, given that we had previously stayed at the Sensatori in Sharm, knew we were taking a gamble. But what a gamble it turned out to be! We stayed from the 19-26 September and had one of the best holidays we can remember.
We are in our mid-50s and had planned this holiday to have no trips or external "activities" as we simply wanted to chill for a week. And this we certainly did - all the staff went out of their way to ensure we had a good time, but (and this is little warning) make sure you put up your "red flag" when on the beach or by the pool otherwise the sales reps will not leave you alone. Even then, some did persist but a strong "no thank you" worked wonders!

I think that the week was made more pleasant by the fact that many other nationalities had been warned away by their foreign offices, so apart from the British, there were only a smattering of Russians, making the occupancy around 30-40%, I was told.
This meant that sunbeds, drinks, waiters, meals etc. all came without a queue - I am not sure what system is used for booking meals during full occupancy, but it certainly didn't look computerised like the Sensatori, which is an absolute blessing as I am sure those who have used the Sensatori would agree with. Talking of which, had we gone to the Sensatori AFTER a stay at the Royal Albatros, I would have been VERY disappointed because it cost twice as much but the value was certainly not doubled.

In terms of value for money the Royal Albatros is very hard to beat. The only downside, and I am being picky here, is that our room was a little "tired" and could do with a refurbishment soon. Having said that, it was close to, and overlooking the beach, was quiet, cool when needed and nothing was broken or inoperative. In fact the shower could double as a water cannon, it was so powerful!

I think we tried all the restaurants, including the non-all-inclusive White Elephant and did not have a bad meal - and due to the fact there was only the aforementioned 30-40% occupancy, it was easy (and allowed!) to have two meals from two different restaurants, which we shared at a table mid-way between the two. Perfect!

The unusual inclusion of the Columbus coffee bar close to reception was a joy to use - I am a bit of a coffee nut, and I thought all the coffees that I tasted were consistently delicious and served at just the right temperature - something that some British coffee shops could learn from.

The travel time to the Hotel from the airport was less than 30 minutes in an air-conditioned mini-bus, and checking in, and luggage delivery to the room was a breeze. Immediately the cleanliness of the place became apparent, there were people constantly cleaning, brushing and polishing and all with a smile on their faces. We did tip most, if not all of the staff, who were most appreciative but we were never made to feel that a tip was obligatory, unlike at other hotels we have stayed at.

I did succumb to a couple of Spa sessions, mainly because of the very good deals being struck in a greater than half-empty hotel and they were excellent.

Finally, don't do what we did and leave the Aqua Park until your last day - what a little jewel this was! We enjoyed the slides, the music being played, the very large double-bed type sunbeds and the fact that while it was not completely within the perimeter of the hotel, it was included in the "all Inclusive" charge.

Room Tip: If you don't mind the trek to the restaurants, the rooms closest to the beach are quieter and of...

I stayed with my partner, along with her 13 year old and my 17 year old, son's, from 21st - 28th August 2013.
We benefitted from the fact that other Countries stopped flying to the resort, in that during the space of our week, the resort went from being around 75% to 50% full, as a maximum. Due to this, there was absolutely no problem in getting sun loungers, drinks, food etc.
2 Restaurants within the complex were shut down during the course of our week, but quite frankly, why not, and sadly for the workers, a lot were being sent home, to places like Cairo, due to the lack of holiday makers.
We saw no 'troubles' what-so-ever, and there were armoured vehicles and check points at every approach road to the Sharm area.
We all enjoyed facials within the Spa resorts facility, including the boys' 1st experience, and we all went back for another. My partner and I also enjoyed a foot spa, and 2 off full massages each, which were all at very reasonable prices, possibly due to the shortage of holiday makers.
I would thoroughly recommend the Sunai desert, quad bike adventure, which we all thoroughly enjoyed, along with the desert sunset.
I would consider returning to the resort again, but would be curious to see what the resort would be like when at normal/full capacity.

Room Tip: We had ground floor garden rooms, which were ideally located, half way between the beach bar and the...

Had a lovely time, room was always clean and spacious, pool was large with plenty of sunbeds, animation team were the best,, really friendly and always spoke to us,the best from the other hotels we have been to in Egypt! Always something we liked food wise, we found we was going to bed early due to Irish bar been bit quiet after 11pm and full of drunk Russians - which we didn't mind was quiet entertaining to watch and always made us laugh! Always something good on at the beach club , we especially enjoyed the three English girl dancers they were amazing and always very friendly! We went to soho square one night, for a meal out and to go shopping where they don't hassle you,, and another night to Hard Rock Cafe, would def recommend this the food was lovely! We found the hotel was great for a chilled out holiday we are in our mid twenties a lot of other couples seemed similar ages to us! The cafe bar was nice too, and the donut bar :) xx missing the albatros dance already, thanks for a fab holiday! X

As useful as TripAdvisor is, it can also be a curse. Opinions are actually subjective and no two will be the same and it is because of this that you will arguably never find the ideal hotel. Or at least one that you can afford.
Fellow users of this site that have "moaned" or "complained" about the RAM really need to examine what it is they expect. I would guess that everyone that booked this hotel managed to get it at an excellent price. And for that price you get a hotel that is very clean. (Staff are forever cleaning, changing filters in the pools, cleaning bannisters, wiping tables) Food is plentiful. (Most items freshly made/cooked - croissants, eggs, pizza, chicken, burgers, pasta, kebabs, pancakes, donuts etc etc) Entertainment team work their socks off. Shows in the evenings etc. The pools are fantastically clean and aesthetically beautiful. Coffee shop is as good as any you will find in London - in my opinion of course. The staff everywhere are so helpful, always smiling and just doing their level best to ensure you have everything you need.
And the one thing that is nothing to do with the hotel - the weather, fantastic.
So yes - complain about the burgers if you wish or that some rooms may not have gold taps but really - how can anyone complain about this hotel. And certainly, how can anyone complain given the price they are paying.
Well done RAM - you certainly know about customer service.
By the way - neither my wife nor I was ill during our 10 day stay. That is a reflection of the cleanliness I can tell you.
So - are there better hotels ? Yes probably. But you would be paying twice over and I am not convinced you would be getting twice the value.
We will be returning to Sharm and it will be the RAM where we stay. For sure.
