we have returned to this hotel approx 8 times. Each time there are inprovements for the better. Having been to other hotels in the area this hotel wins hands down on food, you can always find something that you like. the staff are always ready to please. the weather was not on our side this year but that is out of anyones hands. Last year we went the same week and the weather was perfect. We had a large room which had bunk beds in plus a very large double bed number 1458.I think my best room ive had was 1426 as it had sun on the balcony all day.

We went for two weeks March 2012 and really looking forward to a return visit this February
Good food, even curry at lunchtime if we fancied it! Staff friendly and very helpful, very relaxing, room a bit basic but hoping for a sea view/ pool view this time.

Room Tip: High room pool side better if available

As reviewed by others there at the same time as us, weather wasn't great until 2 days before departure so it spoiled the holiday somewhat as there is little to do. Stayed at sultan gardens last year and that just edged it i think despite better facilities here.
The negatives;
Staff should not treat you differently depending on size of tip, I prefer to tip for good service not tip to get good service and that's how it works here. Some of the staff on the main pool bar were downright ignorant - Sunday 3rd feb day shift! No iced coffee unless you were privileged and practically threw a bottle of water at me while absorbed in this younger model at the side of me! Rude :(
Constant hassle from reps to buy excursions etc - solution is not widely advertised but ask reception for a red flag to hang off your parasol. Not allowed to bother you then and it worked a treat.
Size of soft drink cups were like shot glasses, unless again you were privileged! Ridiculous coz all you do is ask for beer and hang on to your glass.
Animation team were just daft, trying to get a massive group of sunbathing tourists to do the conga round the pool in the morning is heading for failure, about one or two joined in but bless em for keeping at it.
We were both ill with violent stomach problems but we think its just the change in diet rather than the food as the hotel was spotless.
Shower was never warm unless you got in before 5.
Expensive to keep your room on, 60 euros! Was about that each to stay for a week lol.
Good points;
Lovely and clean, always being maintained and looked after.
Good sized rooms with very comfy beds, although new bedding could improve this as it was bobbly.
Good choice of food, although I agree that despite the choice of restaurants it was all very similar but not sure what could be done to change this on such a large scale.
Alcohol was ok, I actually really liked the red wine!
Karaoke in the Irish bar should not be missed, hilarious to listen to Russian karaoke.....
Never had to queue for food or tables, and always something available.
Overall a nice hotel, spoiled by silly things and unfortunately for us bad weather didn't help. Highlight for me was the Russian dress sense, fabric remnants? Worst dress sense ever!
Won't be going to Egypt again as once again Thomas cook flights were poor, delayed on runway 3 hours coming home last year and made a refuelling stop in Crete this year making the flight almost 7 hours, just too much for me for a week. Cornwall it is then.....

very average hotel as most are in sharm, rooms large and a good standard, huge complex, quite a walk anywhere, especially the beach, previous comments all true about staff, tip them and they love you otherwise they treat you with disdain. would not return as it was nothing special. it is not in the middle of nowhere as other review but at the end of the coast road, which is a concrete strip between all the hotels and the beach, a really good 90 minute walk if feeling energetic. food average, 6 restaurants, but all doing pretty much the same, never manic lots of tables, yes the wine was just drinkable, the beer ok, but the spirits like paint stripper! one good point, (i'm not racist) but a lot of brits and only a few of the east europeans. were next door at jaz mirabel last year, a better hotel.

Room Tip: ensure you get a refurbished room

We stayed at the ram for 10 days with the wallis clan , there was 8 of us in total .
Good points ,,, pools brilliant snorkelling great coffee shop superb , the gym is very good also , the food was quiet good , but for snacks lunch time burger and pizza and chips it would of been nice to of been offered toasted sarnies
Bad points ,,, staff rude ( exept the coffee shop ) they were falling over backwards but we did tip well so maybe that's why lol , as there were 8 of us it was hard to sit together as the tables were in set up in fours so bit of a nightmare ok thou , the spirits were vile to the point we just didn't bother drinking only diet coke that was a pain as you had to get it from the bars as it wasn't on tap and when the bar staff new you weren't drinking the crap that they served only coke you were kept waiting as they were only interested in the people tipping them , rooms were spacious but not 5 star a decent 3 star and that's only because we had a 2 bed apartment , the beach was not the best chingle sand not nice to walk on , the shop in the reception do not buy anything in there as nothing is priced and the smelly guy in their makes the prices up as he goes along , the spa staff are rude they tried to sell me a 30 min sauna for 30 quid lol I declined there offer !!!! They are just after your money , soho square ok but all the shops are the same so when you book your cab for your return stay there for about 2 hours , do not go to Naama bay omg it's dirty and the shops just want to rip you off and will not take no for a answer , and if you do go try and give the right money as they are very reluctant to give change ,
Overall I would go back to the hotel if it was well priced , it's a decent 3 star may push to a very average 4 star but no way a 5star
Any questions please ask

Room Tip: If you are not happy go to reception they will offer you a better room

Recently returned back home after 10 nights in the Royal Albatros. I will break down review into bullet points, please contact if you have any questions.
Weather - 5 rainy / cloudy days out of 10
Food - hotel had approx. 6 restaurants, much were the same. Hotel was catering more for the German / Russian tourist. Attend the beach food hut for burger and chips for children.
Rooms - we had a 2 bedroom room no 320. Room was very spacious but was not cleaned to a high standard. The bathroom room needed updating and there was little lighting. The housekeeper was not the best cleaner, and would only create animals out of towels after you had tipped him!!!.
Pool area - Fabulous a wide variety of pools, relaxation pool large and quiet, heated pool - great for kids, Kids pool was brill with a lot of slides. Slide pool was great but bar does not provide any alcohol.
Drinks - beer was ok, but found a shandy to be more refreshing, wine ok, spirits were like paint stripper .
Tipping, you will notice a big difference in staff if you tip them.
Coffee shop - was the most used facility in the hotel. Staff were great and the variety of the coffee matched that of Costa!!
Snorkelling was great - a must for all!!.

Overall I will not be returning back to both the hotel or Egypt in general. As a whole we found the staff to be quite rude unless you tipped, the location of hotel is shocking and the weather was awful.

Tip for holiday, take your own pint glasses to use, hotel supply beach towels, supermarket is 20 minute walk, do not buy nothing in hotel - nothing is priced!!

Room Tip: Hotel is only 3 floors high, and do have wheelchair access. Only 1 lift in the hotel reception.

Wow! what can we say? My Wife and I, 43 years married and traveled most years abroad for our vacations, This was a an experience par excellence. Royal Albatros Moderna, Sharm El Shaikh.
Our first ever time at this resort having previously been on the Nile, very much trust rating on the net. We found the eating so varied & spread over a number of internal house venues and styles surely something for everyone. Listed as a 5* hmm accommodation perhaps a bit tired but a programmed refurbishment we understand is on the way. The staff without exception: Friendly, Courteous and always ready to go that extra mile. Other members of our extended family have experience & matching ours and with young children in tow from two up to teen age with no moans from the kids, makes a nice change. We will be back if not again this year then soon. Customer service: not last nor least of our expectations probably better than most if not all past venues. If you want a Five Star Holiday, this could be for you.

Room Tip: "Higher floors have less A/C unit noise" Rooms to left have most sun, Bring Mosquito rep...
