10 days, 2 adults and 2 children 14/12. We had a lovely holiday, the hotel was in a great location to all the shops, restaurants and beach, which you could access through the Holiday village opposite. Pleasant arrival, couldn't do enough for you, made you welcome and offered drink and meal, took you and luggage to your room and explained everything excellently. Welcome meeting the next day was presented well by Simon and again very informative. We booked Soho Square and Red Sea boat trip though Thomson. Couldn't fault the hotel and Thomson staff, they all were friendly, helpful and chatty. Not once did we fell uneasy in the hotel. They all work extremely hard and long hours. Great variety of food, we didn't get bored with it. For our 10 days we were given a voucher for a free meal in the two on site Restaurants the meals were lovely, but very rich. If you stay for 2 weeks, then you will be given 2 visits to each restaurant. It just made a nice change. We were invited to a free Cocktail meeting, this was to meet the hotel management and talk freely about anything they could improve on. We talked to the head chef, who was very nice and listened to all we said. The lifeguards worked tirelessly maintaining a very high clean and safe pool area. They did not stop and for the very few minor accidents I witnessed that they instantly treated the person and ensured they were ok to continue their day. A big well done to the restaurant staff too. They looked after everybody brilliant. Impressed to see a 'water man' everyday testing the pool and drinking water continuously through out the day (everyday) with his specimen bottles. I heard of no ear infections, but Deli belly was mentioned a few times. My hubby had a day in bed and we all had an upset tummy. But this was 3 days into the holiday and put it down to the change in weather temperature, saltier food and too much sea/pool water. Hand sanitizer s were outside every restaurant. The food around the pool was great for a quick in between swims filler. Pizzas cooked fresh, chips, toasties, salad etc. ice creams served too. Or you could always pop into the buffet to have more of a choice. Mosquitos- I think everyone had a bite somewhere on their body, we gained 3/4 new bites everyday, but never felt them bite. The hotel did treat( smoke) the entire grounds twice on our 10 days to reduce the little pests. Can honesty say that this didn't bother me, as my bites are normally monstrous in England. We did venture down to the pool side to save sun beds early, as they go quick. But some people where tipping/asking the lifeguards to reserve their beds if they were a large party. It didn't bother us, we always managed to get some, or the lifeguards would always find some and move them for you. My kids where too old for the Thomson kids clubs, but they joined in everyday with the pool side games, volley ball, aqua size etc, which were great fun. Still can not believe how they fitted the water slides, lazy river and everything else into the hotel grounds. A great variety and no queues, again lifeguards on every ride, and strict with safety. The lazy river needed some maintenance, but was still kept clean and a most relaxing time ever. I just kept going round and round- heaven. Trips- Soho square, £10 adults and £6 children. Also gave you discount vouchers on the coach for drinks etc. a no haggling place. The price is what you paid! Handbags, picture, tshirts etc etc. good for a look. Ice bar advertised and pushed as a big thing, but we did not do this and glad we didn't pay, as some people we met did, and said it was not worth the money. Size of a container, with a ice sculpture and ice cups and that was it. They had a fountain show and ice skating too. The Queen Vic British pub was good for a sit down and rest. Red Sea cruise was fantastic and well worth the money. £39 adults and £20 child. All day cruise with a Thomson rep and boat staff/ divers all day. Includes soft drinks and lunch on the boat. Divers are good to those not confidant to swim and kids. 3 stops for a long snorkel. Fantastic 'finding Nemo' moments. Coral reef out of this world. Can hire all snorkel gear on the trip as the coach stops off in the port. £3 for flippers, snorkels etc and underwater cameras too. You will need flippers as you will get tired. A must for any holiday!!! Felt very safe in Egypt. The hotel had a curfew on one night due to trouble in Cairo. Thomson informed us well during our stay on all notice boards. Tipping- I am not a tipping person, but we did tip the room cleaner a £1 a day and the people on the boat trip as they deserved it. We could have tipped more, but tip were you fell they deserve it and not because they hold out their hand and beg for it. Like the airport coach bag person. All he did was put your bags in the coach hold and held out his hand. Entertainment was very for kids, the Thomson reps were brilliant and again worked very hard to entertain all night. A couple of nights a local group came in. The fire throwers were very good and Egyptian dancers were worth a watch. Bingo every night, a full strip £7.50. Waiters would keep you in drinks all night with a little tip, but we just went to get our own as if was nice to move around. The upstairs bar normally had a violinist, guitar player which was nice to relax too and keep cool in the air conditioning. We paid £40 for a late check out as we were mot leaving the hotel until 6pm. Check out was normally at 12 noon. The luggage staff will come to collect suitcases direct from you room 30 minute before departure, so all you have to do is checkout. Spa staff well bug you on your first few days there, but just say no. If there is a chance that you may want some treatments keep them hanging on and say no a few times as they will keep lowering the price. Then is up to you!
. Overall we had a lovely, fantastic, hot, relaxing holiday! Well done Thomson and Coral Sea Aqua hotel. Well worth a visit!!!!

Room Tip: All room have some king of pool view. We had 4215 on the 2 floor and very accesses by stairs or lift...

Had 1 week from 9th - 16th August, 4 kids (16,15,12,10). The resort has many positives ie pools, waterpark, lazy river, activities for kids, most staff are very friendly.
The downsides were the food, a little repetitive although if the kids like pizza/pasta/burgers etc they will love it. The other disappointment was the evening entertainment, which is primarily for under 10's. Given the number of adults, there should be something aimed at the older age group at some point. The entertainment staff do work very hard and the younger kids looked as though they enjoyed it.
Given the amount we paid for the holiday, we expected more but the weather was lovely and overall we had a good time. Probably would choose somewhere else next time as our kids are too old to really enjoy it but if you are a young family, you should have a great time.

5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 18, 2013

Just back from a cracking fortnight at the Coral Sea Aqua Club.

We are a family of 3, and travelled with Thomson on 2nd August 2013 from Newcastle.

Arrival at Sharm airport was fine and the transfer time was only about 20 minutes, including a drop off at another hotel. The hotel itself is well placed off the main road through Nabq, and only a 10 min walk from the beach/seafront.

Hotel check-in was fine and we were greeted with a drink, and given our all-inclusive wrist bands, then we were driven by golf caddy to our room, with our bags following shortly after. Our room was a swim-up room, and it was brilliant. Ours was on the 'sunny side' which had the sun from early morning until late afternoon - the other side lost the sun around 2pm. It was brilliant having daylong access to a more private pool. There is also a terraced area which gets sun all day, away from the crowded areas at the main poolsides elsewhere.

The room itself was great - spacious with a large king size bed for us, and a smaller bed for our 9 year old. The room has a flat screen TV with movies channels, kettle & tea coffee making sachets (replaced daily), and a fridge/mini-bar (charges for mini-bar stock). Two large bottle of drinking water are provided daily too, again for Free. There is a hairdryer in room, and an iron/ironing board can be requested free from reception. Our bathroom had a shower, wc and basin... and oddly enough, a phone next to the toilet. Rooms are cleaned daily (unless you request otherwise) and if you are lucky, you may receive a surprise on your bed in the form of towel-art.

The waterpark onsite is brilliant too. There are 3 matslides, and a freefall slide, as well as 3 rubber ring slides - the Inner tube, the space bowl and the Boomerang. There is a pirate ship kids waterplay area, a wave pool and the flowrider surf machine. We did of course, try them all!!

There are a few areas around the pools and in our room which looked a little 'tired' and in need of some maintenence, but nothing major and nothing to spoil anything. Our rooms were next to a building development, however there were no works ongoing when we were there, so no noise.

There are bars around the pools for drinks, and some that do snacks. The main bar areas are also very good, and the service excellent.

This was our first 'All-Inclusive' holiday, and we couldn't really fault the food. Our son is normally a fussy eater on holiday, meaning we resort to McDonalds to feed him, but he always found something he liked to eat at this hotel. The meals were all buffet style, and evening dinner is themed each night, and there was always a good choice. There was also two A La Carte restaurants; an Asian diner and an American Diner, and we received one visit to each per week as part of our all inclusive package with Thomson - these just needed to be pre-booked before you visited. There is a also a Stonegrill restaurant next door to the hotel, but still part of the hotel. Whilst not part of your All Inclusive, you do get 25% discount for being in the hotel. The food is served on a 400 degree heated stone, and cooked in front of you, to your taste. Its well worth a visit.

The staff at the hotel are brilliant, and all very friendly. There are also a few shops within the hotel - a clothing shop, sweet/toy/souvenir shop, a jeweller, a handbag/watch shop and a perfume/oil shop. The handbag/watch shop is worth a visit just to meet 'Mr Bean' who works there... "Which one, which one".

We took sterling cash with us, as the exchange rate is better in Sharm than in the UK. You can change money either at reception, or at an ATM near the shops int he hotel. We found the rate better from the ATM than from reception though. There are also banks outside the hotel, where you can change money too.

The Thomson entertainment team are brilliant, and work their socks off. They organise games and activities around the hotel complex, and in/around the pools, if you want to get involved. However, some of the evening entertainment was a little hit and miss, and some evenings the main entertainment didn't appear, and they had to fill in. They do a nightly 'Tea-Time Live' show for the kids, which they all loved.

We only booked two trips with Thomson - 'Soho Square shopping', and 'Market Mayhem'. Soho square is worth a visit - fixed price shopping (slightly more expensive), in a new shopping area near the airport. There is also an ice rink, cinema, one air stage area with entertainment and musical fountains.

Market Mayhem was at the old Market area of sharm, and while the trip takes you to 3 or 4 fixed price shops (better bargains than soho sq), you do also encounter the hassle of traders trying to get you into their shops at every turn.

We had hoped to do an excursion to either Cairo or Luxor, but with the troubles at the moment, we were unable to do them with Thomson who had cancelled those trips. I believe other local tour companies may still take you, but we felt it wasn't worth the potential risk.

As far as the trouble go, we had one evening where a nationwide curfew was in force (7pm-6am) where we were advised to stay within the hotel complex, but this was lifted fort he sharm/red sea areas the following day. Other than that, you would not know there were any issues. Sharm remains a safe place which (hopefully) doesn't become affected by the political situation eleswhere.

There are loads of bars, restaurants and shops along the main strip through Nabq, but most of the shops will try and engage you in conversation and hassle you to buy from them. There is a large supermarket called 'Metro' which was very good for buying sweets/snacks/drinks. There are also McDonalds, KFC, Burger King, TGI Fridays, Starbucks and Hard Rock Cafe all within a few minutes walking distance of the hotel.

Overall, we loved our stay at the hotel, and the resort and would definitely go back, and recommend it to others. Its official rating is 4 star, and I think its fully deserving of that rating.

Room Tip: If booking a swim-up room, you can contact the hotel reservations department direct and request a...

The first night we got there we was booked into a room that you come out of the lift and there is building work... Than inside the room there was hair on the floor and very dusty not clean. Me and my husband was very disappointed especially after a long delayed flight. We called reception and they said in the morning we will be going to another room. Day 2: we got a lovely room on ground floor with lovely swimming pool... Me and hubby went for a swim with our daughter, when we come back I could not find the 2 new tops I brought for my daughter, the cleaner took it. He is a thief... Was really upset.. The next day I asked for that cleaner and a new cleaner he had gone to kairo to see his family, what a bloody cheek! The new cleaner Muhammad was a pervert always chating the girls up near the pool...having a drink with nabil. They are total desperate and it's quiet sad when you give them tip it's like it does not mean anything to them. Food was lovely... Fatiyaa the manger at the food court is so lovely and made us feel very welcomed everyday. Wahid at from reception was so lovely too. Naina from Thompson is so lovely bubbly and is doing a fantastic job, she is straight to the point, we miss her! Zara was lovely at the baby crèche , they are totally trust worthy. Had a lovely time although there was a few issue, but my daughter enjoyed her holiday, swimming everyday! It was just sad that the cleaner stole my daughters tops and the perverts that really should be doing there job, instead looking around, pretending to do work. The massage guys are so annoying... And can't even do there job properly, sham really was getting on our nerves constantly bugging us.

We had a wonderful week at the hotel. Friendly staff, especially Fatthye in the restaurant who was very kind to my 4 yr old daughter. The food was superb and the room was clean and modern. I couldn't fault the hotel. There was plenty to do for kids under 12 with the wave pool, slides and pirate ship, and lazy river. The main pool was used by teenagers and their families. The adult slides were impressive for a hotel. A top tip is that you will need Factor 50 sun cream and still get a good tan. There were always sunbeds available, and if not a lifeguard would get you one. Loads of lifeguards around the pools, who were strict with the kids and their safety ( a good thing). Staff constantly cleaned, collecting cups and sweeping floors etc. Only issue were the pushy Spa staff, but thanks to a previous review I knew how to say no! Oh and the usual rude British holiday makers who feel they don't have to say please or thank you. The staff work very hard and deserve tipping. I would totally recommend the hotel. The Thompson flight on the other hand! 5 and half hours and no in-flight entertainment! The flight was freezing with no blankets available. A kind flight attendant offered his jacket for warmth. Stressful end to a fabulous holiday.

My family and I had an amazing holiday 16th-30th July. All staff from waiters, bar guys, cleaners and pool boys were very friendly and helpful. Our room was kept clean and the grounds of the hotel were always being pruned and tidied. The reps are entertaining especially if you join in with the games. Fab trip to Ras Mohammed and quad biking in the desert. Soho square well worth a visit. Plenty to choose from in the main restaurant and a lovely meal in the American restaurant. We didn't have a connecting room for the first 2 nights, but rep sorted this out and we had a lovely room (5206 & 5207) with a great view. Would recommend this hotel.

Room Tip: I prefered the first floor with no one above and no one looking into our room, which can happen if y...
