Aqua Hotel Resort & Spa
Ranked #29 of 33 Hotels in Nabq Bay
Reviewed March 20, 2014

We travelled to this hotel last summer and after the reviews we had previously read we were not expecting a lot. However, after a bumpy journey from the airport at night time we arrived at the hotel and were pleasantly surprised. The hotels marble lobby is lovely and the staff were very friendly and helpful. The hotel was quiet for the time of year but that was a good thing as it was quiet enough to relax. After an initial meeting with our holiday rep we booked onto lots of trips and excursions that would pick us up from the hotel, the were also very cheap and well worth doing. We went snorkelling, quad biking in the desert, visited the waterpark and went to soho and all these were booked through the hotel and there was many more to choose from! The food was average but we still had a good meal every meal time and most of the time it was too hot to eat loads! The hotel was in a good area with a few shops surrounding it and taxis were very cheap to travel further out. Trips to the beach were also including in the hotel with a shuttle taking you there and back. The pool area was also very nice and relaxing with a pool bar and music playing.
I think the previous reviews that we read before this trip were somewhat unfair and did not reflect our experience of this hotel at all.

We stayed there in jan by chance as we where booked in to the el hayat but we got moved at the last minute by holiday company.
So glad they did we meet mohammed Ali ( not the boxer though) he is a very nice person and a great friend and also great for trips as his prices are very reasonable.
Van dam the towel boy is a bundle of fun and a great chap as for all of the staff they could not do enough for us.
The hotel is on the up and one to be watched for future use as it will one of the best in nabq if they continue to do the same as they are currently doing

Hotel needs to get rid of the stray cats, by the summer they would have multiplied 3 more times and the area around the pool bar stinks of cats pee!! The furniture needs updating on the patio area, it is upholstered and people in wet clothing sit in it so it doesn't dry out. Not enough variety on the menu and food Luke warm. When anything runs out in the restaurant u have to get the staff go replace it, where as they should be aware and replace it straight away. Also get rid of the little plastic cups. The pool needs heating in February/March times, also, there is only 1 lot of steps into the pool so if people were playing volley ball there you had to jump in the pool and try to climb, ok for kids to do but not older people. Staff friendly and helpfull

arrived at the hotel on 25/02 to be offered a choice of rooms as there were 8 of us on a family holiday. The rooms were all clean and serviced daily. the hotel staff were friendly polite and extremely helpful throughout the week. Issmael the chef cooked fresh food and asked daily what we wanted for the following day and nothing appeared to be any trouble for him and also cooked different food to accommodate the youngsters. Mohammed Ali went out of his way to arrange excursions to suit our varied age range at a reasonable price also booking us taxis and generally making our time away from the hotel a pleasurable experience. The only downside was the pool was at times too cold. We would highly recommend this hotel.

Well were shall I start, we booked our holiday in June 2013 we a company called My Kinda Travel - please be warned to make sure your triple check your bookings as you maybe in for a shock, there are 3 separate parties all linked into your booking, make sure your information is clarified properly.

Well we arrive at the airport which was ok, was put on to the wrong shuttle bus we were not impressed - we had to pay a cab to drive us to the hotel, by the way we paid for this in our booking - at extra cost.

We arrived in the evening so it was a shock when we got to the hotel, what the pictures described we did not get, please be warned there is no SPA - there a male guy wearing a salon suitform and walks around the pool was charging to put on creams and oils (50 egypiyan pounds) for 10 mins.

The room which was described as the best room out of the whole resort was given to us. Well if the room that was given to us was the best i don't know what how the worst room looks like.

The room had not been cleaned in months - dusty, so if you suffer from dust allergies - god help you, as I came out in red spots all over. The doors had holes and had massive gaps so the draft would come through. The Safe was not even in our room - not suprised. The bathroom needed to be replaced as the shower had eroded. I could not even have a shower, plus my friend got locked in as the door was not sanded down properly. I left the best thing to last about the room. If you do stay and receive this ground floor room, good luck as you will be smelling of sewage and this is not the most pleasant it was potent. There were estray cats who had not been feed in years.

The staff well if you have staff who are professional running a hotel, you would know. The staff workers were chatting about the guests all night near the pool and laughing this just shows how immature they are.

The blue shirted guy who is the porter please watch out he looks like a thief, as he conned us out of £120 egyiptan pounds by ordering a taxi which should have taken us across the road, for half of the amount, instead of taking us around the world.

We only stayed one night, the dinner was dyer - the food was stale and even the bread looks gone off. Breakfast we did not bother. Drinks were in Plastic cups which you can find in the pound shops for cocktails and tea and other drinks - no proper glasses.

We spent a whole day on the phone chatting to the travel agency in the UK who weren't helpful as such as they pasted on the buck to On Holiday group who are the third party who have booked our hotel. This has cost me and my friend combined together in calls back and forth (£96.50 in English pounds) which we did not expect to be paying whilst on holiday.

I was fuming and upset as we had a another friend whom we had brought out to Egypt to enjoy her birthday and she is suffers from High Blood pressure and has heart condition and needs to take her medicine on time with food.

There was no facility in the rooms for tea or coffee for her to have. After paying another £189.00 for all three of us to be upgraded to a decent hotel. We were just gratful to just get out of that dump of a 1 star hotel.

We met another mother and daughter from Manchester who were in the came boat as us and nearly spent thousands of pounds on a weeks holiday and they too were trying to get out of this rut. another company to avoid Lollipop travel - rubbish as hell good luck with the £1.10 pence per minute charges on to your mobile.

Please Please be careful and do not just get all happy with the pictures as they are deceiving and also make sure if any of your friends who go abroad put down the truth, as some people need to know what they are getting themselves in for.

The recommedations to the owner -
1. You need to give the place a lick of paint.
2. Get new furniture put in asap
3. Decent cleaners and you need female to be cleaning no offence but the place needs a womans touch.
4. The food you need to get new chef in to get more variety
5. The staff get rid of all and keep the main receptionist who was decent - this is the tall thin guy who looked smart and was helpful and not rude.
6. The security need to be more pro-active
7. You put down a grilled fish and meat - no sign of it when we were there.
8. Get a spa room created properly or if not remove from your website completely.
9. Re brand your company too many Aqua names and the booking agents get mixed up and send us Brits to the wrong hotels.

If you find my comments rude - I am only being frank and honest and warning all Brits.

Room Tip: There are no good rooms if people are adding good comments they must be happy to sleep on budget - i...

I stayed in this hotel for one week with my 9 year old daughter.
When we got there and checked in the bell boy bought our suitcases to our room. I had asked him can he show me how the safe works but as it was not working he had no idea how to work it, the door would not lock and we didn't have no hot water with all that he had a cheek to ask "Do you have a present for me" which I found so rood and lead him to the door to leave.
I called reception and they sent someone to sort all this out who was lovely and didn't demand for a tip. The room was clean though the shower needs updating desperately
The food was lovely and the staff couldn't do enough for you.
This hotel is not a 4* hotel.
There was a lot of stray cats by the pool and also the pool area was very uneven and not safe.
What I do have to say about our holiday was the animation team they were fantastic "Zac, Mario, Mousho, Anya and Maia" they made our holiday and without them it would of been very boring. My daughter loved them, they always made it fun for everyone to the point we even sat with them at meal times.
I would only go back to this hotel if I knew the animation team were going to be their.

Room Tip: If you have kids find a room in the main hotel not an outskirt building adjacent to the main hotel a...
