“Will be booking to go back next year”
Reviewed April 27, 2014 via mobile

Never fancied going to Egypt what a huge mistake. We arrived at the Oriental Resort and straight away we had a smile on our faces with its location walking distance to Hard Rock Cafe, TGI Friday, Starbucks, Mcdonalds, Kfc, Burger King and many shops to get your bargains.
We arrived at hotel 9.45 pm went al to check where the receptionist gave us our bands and said we will sort out rest of check in later and pointed us to the restaraunt to get some food as it closed at ten.
The hotel has everything you need for a perfect holiday , the kids are looked after by the animation team, the pools, the beach are perfect no need to take towels.
Lunch you can eat in main area or by the pool we ate mainly at the bottom pool where you could get burgers , hotdogs , pizza , salads and chips which were delicious and we were well looked after by mohammed . Soft drinks were proper coke, fanta and sprite and alcohol was local but really nice.
Rooms were varied some being modernised but all very clean and well maintained. The hotel itself was alwas being cleaned and the gardens were attended daily and beautiful.
The beach well what can I say it had everything warm sea water and beach sports plus private.
Evening meals they catered for all nationalities and was of a high standard , my wife is a veggie and a fussy one at that and she was well pleased what they had to offer.
Now we come the staff , they have a saying " come as our guest leave as our friend " and that is exactly how we felt they were all amazing people who work long and hard they just made us feel so special can't wait to go back next year.
If you want to get away from the british easter weather and enjoy some Egyption sunshine at an fatastic hotel with fantastic staff NOW FRIENDS stay at the Oriental Resort

I try to be as honest as I can in my reviews as I also follow this site when booking my holiday.... Firstly we booked with Travel Republic, absolutely superb, faultless and very very easy to do, saved me a lot of money by not having to go through First Choice or Thompsons.

This is our first trip to Egypt... On arrival to Oriental Resort at 20:30pm we were greeted by warm and welcoming staff, and upgraded our room to the new block for £100.00 for our 10 nights stay, wow this room was amazing, 6ft x 6ft bed, a sofa, satellite TV, slippers and gowns, luxury bathroom, I was very impressed, next morning we headed for breakfast, greeted by waiter staff and shown to our table by ZAC (lovely bloke), Breakfast was lovely, great choice.. heading out to the pool after breakfast was a great sight, very clean grounds and an amazing pool, we soon found a quieter pool too with a swim up bar, this was great.. dinner time we spent at the pool restaurant eating chicken and chips, yes I was impressed... but sadly this is where it ends for me.....

7pm dinner time was awful, poor choice, kids menu was steamed veg, cocktail sausages and pasta with a tasteless sauce, adults selection was chicken twice a week, curry potatoes, rice dishes but plenty of salad, this was roughly same every night throughout our stay, The restaurant was also packed out with Russians, they were rude and arrogant and did not grasp the meaning of queuing for food, they just pushed in, we tried to persevere with the food but my children was not eating properly and to be honest both myself and wife was also feeling hungry every evening as the meals available were very unappetizing, i complained to the hotel management and head chef, but sadly fell on deaf ears so we ended up drawing money off our credit card and eating out every night even though we was all inclusive at the oriental resort. this was my best move of the holiday, so much food available and cheap too, very friendly staff at all the places we ate at, the 3 crowns had to be my favourite though.. local shops can be a hassle sometimes as some do not take no for an answer and follow you trying to get you to go into the shop, but then you will find the ones that don't and just sit and wait, these are the ones I visited and purchased from.

Anyway back to the hotel...
One thing that really cheesed me off was our rep.. AHMED OF BRIGHT SKY.. he made me believe his trips was the only ones I was allowed to book under my insurance reasons and the guys on the beach were illegal and dangerous, so I booked with him !! (bad mistake) his trips were rubbish, the water park (CLEO PARK) had 8 slides 3 of which I had to jiggle my way to the end and drop in the water lol. I complained to Bright Sky but got no where and they wouldn't refund, gave me the excuse that AHMED no longer worked for the company. over the next 8 days I got to know the guys on the beech for trips (TIME TOURS) great bunch of guys but 2 special mentions are MOKKA AND SAYED (aka.. keno west.. usher etc. etc. lol) you will soon see what I mean when you meet Sayed lol...we ended up booking lots with them and had a great time

On Day 8 my wife developed a swelling to her eye so we visited the in house hotel doctor, my wife still in her nightwear, obviously no bra on was asked by him to remove her top so he could listen to her heart beat, She refused to do this and I made an appearance to the room he had taken her too, his English then went very bad.
he prescribed steroid eye drops, this made her eye much worse, on arrival to the uk we went to our local GP and he was astonished by what she had been prescribed, stating that steroids should not have been prescribed as it was only conjunctivitis, so ladies please be aware of this doctor.

To sum it all up, Sharm is a great place, the hotel is not good for food OR DOCTORS but is very clean and nice pools/ staff and trust the guys on the beach not your rep !!

Room Tip: If you are silly enough to book this hotel then upgrade your room.

We spent 12 nights in this excellent hotel two weeks ago. We have stayed here twice previously but this time it was even better. We had great rooms with an interconnecting door, overlooking the "quiet pool". The beds were huge and very comfortable, the rooms were lovely and clean and we even had a settee in our room. All the staff were fantastic, but we should give a special mention to Zack, Mohamed and Mohamed in the restaurant, they absolutely made our holiday, they were so friendly and nothing was too much trouble for them. Gabor and the guys at the hotel bar was great fun too. The food was really good we never had a bad meal, there was always something you could eat even for the picky eaters, but please don't expect burgers and chips, you can go outside to McDonalds and burger king if this is what you like to eat. The hotel facilities were good and kids were well catered for. The grounds are absolutely beautiful and the pools are kept very clean. A special mention to Walid Sakr, the Hotel Manager, a lovely guy who is on the ball with what his guests want and need, he is very approachable and went out of his way to sort out Wi fi for access for us and sought our feedback on his staff and hotel at the end of our holiday. Currently you will have to pay for WI Fi, but you can go to the sports bar over the road were it is free. Our only disappointment was that the refurbished beach bar was not open but this was not the fault of the hotel, and Walid was working hard to ensure that it will be ready shortly. We can recommend booking a day trip out on the boats for snorkelling on the reefs and a couple of hours on the speedboat, will need a party of four (£20.00 each), we were lucky enough to see dolphins, but be wary of paying over the odds for photos at the end. Barter if you do want them. We can recommend the Fish Market a pay for meal which is held by the Warm pool by candle light, on Friday evenings, all fresh fish cooked and presented by the hotel staff. Very romantic. All in all we had a brilliant time, very relaxing and we can't wait to return in the very near future. We have recommended this hotel to friends who will be booking a holiday there soon.

Like most people going to Egypt, we booked an all inclusive package at Oriental ,based on the positive reviews. The good parts were the super spacious rooms and the amazingly helpful staff. However the biggest let down was the food. The food seemed to mainly cater to the Russian tourists and even that was absolutely awful! Watery fish, dried up meat dishes, tasteless tomato based pastas.I was travelling with friends and we had three children 5 and below. The kids menu especially was a big let down as it was never more than pasta, bad sausages and vegetables floating in water. The highlight was the one special evening where we are allowed to dine in their La Tereze restaurant - Italian cuisine i think. We reached there and they had exactly the same food as the main buffet - also served in buffet style! What is the point of calling us to a restaurant for a special meal if you are serving exactly the same food as the main eating area!!!
We stayed there for a week and loved Sharm but vowed never to go back to Oriental!
