“Don't believe the bad reviews!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 8, 2010

Just returned from a week at the RRBR - very nice, clean hotel on the beach in Nabq Bay. We arrived late afternoon so check in was fairly painless. All the reception staff were very helpful - only gripe was that they never had a lot of money to change your currency. The room was excellent - we had a Superior room with good views - our room cleaner introduced himself on the first day & always left the room immaculate so we tipped him most days - a little cash goes a long way with them! Food was pretty good too - yes i was poorly for a couple of days but then it is just the change in food & their cooking. Compared to some hotels in the area i think we got a good hotel - other people on the plane were complaining they had been ill all week! We got friendly with Mahmoud in the restaurant & he always saved us a table & bought us endless drinks so again a little tip goes a long way with them. Always managed to get a sunbed either by the pool or on the beach no matter what time you went out - make friends with Mohammed & he will always get you a good spot! There are a lot of Russians in this hotel & although this does not spoil your holiday it is nice to hear the odd German or English speaking guest. The only bad point that i have to make is the lack of night entertainment - once you have eaten there is nothing to do in the hotel at all! You find yourself sitting in the bar with no music or walking the grounds - failing that there are 2 movie channels to watch!! All in all a pretty good hotel - tip little & often & they appreciate you more. Take plenty of stomach medicine as i heard the clinic is very expensive, but just be careful what you eat. I dont always believe the bad reviews about hotels - everyone has their own opinions of stuff - would def rate this a 4 star & would recommend to anyone.

Third time in Sharm, loved the hotel. Huge bedroom with fantastic shower. Great pools and beach. Food ok, never starved. They love the british and we got treated like kings and queens. There are alot of rude russians but that effects the staff not other holiday makers we just ignored them and got on with our holiday and to be honest they never got in the way of our enjoyment.. Shops and a bar within walking distance. We are booking again for 2011. Maybe not a 5 star but definitley a very good 3 star for a good price. Just go and enjoy it. Remember its hot, fun and beautiful scenery.

5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 23, 2010

Just returned from 10 days at the RRBR with my partner and the first thing we did on arrival home was to check teletext holidays to see when we can afford to return – yes it was that good – probably the best holiday we’ve ever enjoyed. This is due entirely to the wonderful staff and the hospitality that we received. If you are reading this review then you are obviously thinking of booking this hotel – I would recommend that you do. If you want a pleasant surprise don’t read the rest of my review.
On arrival we were taken by golf cart to our room – this is a huge complex (595 rooms, 10,000 sqm of pools, 1200 guests, 500 staff). The room was fantastic. Very spacious, huge bed which is the most comfortable hotel bed I’ve ever slept in. The room was spotlessly clean. Bathroom equally clean with a Jacuzzi style shower. We had a ground floor suite (they are all called suites!) in block 2. Nice spacious veranda overlooking a discrete pool. There are numerous pools with the main ones running through the centre of the complex. The main pool by the beach has a swim up bar. Our block had its own pool which was lovely as only two other (English) couples used it and we had it to ourselves most of the time. Most families chose to use the main pool or the pools with slides. Our pool attendant, Naser, was on hand every morning to put the umbrella up and wash the table, he even used to put our towels out for us. He would come by every so often to empty the ashtray and check whether we needed anything.
There is an extensive beach with many sunbeds. There are also many umbrellas which seemed to shade the whole beach as they were so close together. Also, there wasn’t really enough room to move the sunbeds around to either follow the sun or shade and it was very crowded.
Meals are taken in the main restaurant although you can opt to eat in one of the other three themed restaurants (twice per stay) – the Italian (how can they get spaghetti Bolognese so wrong?) – The Asian (this was very good) or the Oriental (which in Egypt means eclectic Mediterranean style – not Chinese as many people thought). Outside is a barbecue / grill area which provides omelettes and fried eggs at breakfast and in the evenings chicken/beef/fish etc. There is a huge array of food available. Always a vast selection of bread (baked on the premises); yes you can get a version of an English fry up but no bacon. They have an area which will cook pasta to your liking, a carvery and a dessert display to die for (note to ladies – there are scales in the bathrooms!). There also seemed to be a never ending doughnut counter. Food is available from 05:00 to 22:00 at a variety of places.
If you love seafood (as I do) there is a restaurant overlooking the beach. You have to pay for this one. There are two set menus, £20 or the £30 which includes lobister (as it’s called out there).
There are five bars and we spent most of our time in the evenings in the food court bar. This is where we met Ayman, the bar manager. I cannot begin to describe the hospitality that we received from him. He was so attentive. We had our regular table (which he kept for us when we went to eat). Our glasses were never empty. Nothing was too much trouble. We also had another fantastic waiter called Allah for the first few days; he spoke very good English and had a very good sense of humour (unfortunately due to a family illness he had to return to his family home).
The grounds around the resort are immaculately manicured. We were having tea one morning on the veranda when one of the gardeners picked some flowers and presented them to me in a glass – how kind was that! Our room cleaner, Samah, kept our room clean and changed the sheets and towels regularly. He also made towel sculptures everyday on the bed and a spectacular one on our last night in the bathroom. The day before we left he told me he had a present for us. He had made a sand picture in a glass vase with our names in it. I was dumbstruck – this guy works 14 hours a day everyday yet he had found time to make this gift for us.
Every member of staff was pleasant and always said hello with a smile. The hospitality of the staff is a credit to this hotel which is why we would go back.
A note about check out. You have to check out by 12:00 but you can keep your room until 16:00 (£20 per person) or 20:00 (£40 per person), which is a bit steep. We met a lovely couple, Mike and Cecelia who were great company and a good laugh. We offered them our room for their last day however; reception then offered them a courtesy room to shower. We took this option ourselves on the last day. They gave us a room in block 6. Oh dear, if we had been offered this room for the holiday we would have insisted on moving. It had exactly the same furniture as our room but was half the size and smelt of damp. Maybe that’s why they use it as a courtesy room – I certainly wouldn’t stay in it for long.
Downside – the greedy, arrogant and extremely rude Russians. I wouldn’t have believed it if I hadn’t seen it for myself. To ‘reserve’ their table in the restaurant they would fill two plates with two dozen rolls and two or three plates full of fruit, and then leave it without eating any of it. We saw a woman one night with a large supermarket carrier bag filling it with fruit! They stand at the bar demanding Vodka, vodka, vodka which they down and demand again. They really are rude however, not withstanding they didn’t really bother us.
Thank you to the wonderful staff for their outstanding hospitality – you made us feel like Royalty!

Without making it seem a disaster and trying to remain impartial the resort is clearly showing its age. The staff were as helpful as possible and did their best. The russians were fine but I can see why others have mentioned it on here. If you arrive early for meals expect a rugby scrum, if you plan your day later then it is never a problem. We had to move room after the first night as the room was not very clean. We both ended up with a bacterial infection and this wasn't good. The food was consistent but I could see if you stayed for 14 days you would get bored. We went for 7 days week commencing 30th October 2010 and there was alot of building work going on which we were not aware of before booking. We went on one excursion to the Bedowin camp which was ok but it was amusing when the tour guide on the coach said they dont have electric or televisions only to see a satelite dish on one of the homes as we drove past!!! I will end with what I can see is a fair summary....The resort is a little grubby, a bit isolated and not a true reflection of the brochure. The staff are fine but if you are concerned about stomach bugs, pushy salesmen, 'same' food or a total lack of a 5* feel then probably best to think twice.

This hotel is NOT a 5 star hotel. On arrival we were shown our rooms, we had two suites, myself and partner and my brother and his wife, beds were clean but the room itself very tired. We had stomach problems from the second day (all of us) we still have it NOW after arriving back home in UK. The restaurant catered for Russian people, there's only so much eggs, chicken and bread you can eat, I must point out that we are not fussy UK eaters but found the food to be like a canteen, and the food very bland, we found it hard to find some decent tasty food.

Most of the staff are pleasant especially WALEED in the entertainment area and Abraham in the bar at reception, on commenting on the food to some members of staff they relied "Yes I have heard many stories about the restaurant that it is not good". The snorkelling is very good, which made our holiday. I must point out that we have been to Sharm before and there are better hotels. We would not return to this hotel.

Had 10 days in November 2010. Service excellent but very busy - big complex and 90% Russian/Eastern European some who could be rude at times. Lots of pools some busy some quiet (nearest reception quiter than by the beach). Beach has lots of loungers but very close together. Swimming only from jetty if weather OK. Strong currents and life guards on duty restricting access to sea if too rough. Fish amazing and temperatures between 28 and 39 degress in November.

My wife and I stayed at this resort in Sharm el Sheikh between 18 Oct 2010 - 25 Oct 2010, with our 2 year child and a few friends.

The Rehana Royal Beach Resort (RRBR) is locally CONSIDERED to be a 5 star resort. Its Sister hotel across the road - The Rehana Sharm Resort (RSR) is considered to be a 4 star resort. Be sure to know where exactly it is you are staying. We were originally booked in the RHR, but upon arrival were advised that the hotel was fully booked and were offered a free upgrade to the RRBR. RRBR is on the beach and is much bigger than RSR (which is not on the beach because its across the road).

This is not a 5 star resort (UK Standard). It is probably more realistically a 4 star (UK) in most areas, and no worse than 3 star in some areas. If you are expecting the standard you would get at the Hilton, Raddison, Sheraton and other similar high class hotel chains, then you have either 1 of 2 potential problems; Either; 1 - Your holiday provider is ripping you off with an extortionate price to stay at this resort, or 2 - You need to be more realistic. If you want a proper 5 star service, you need to pay 5 star prices. Approx £500GBP (pppw, all Inc.) does not buy you a UK standard 5 star holiday (flights+hotel), so you need to be realistic. There's no point paying less and then moaning that it didn't meet your standards, and then unfairly providing a poor review.

If however, you're willing to expect to get what you pay for, then I believe you will enjoy staying at the RRBR.

Resort itself: Massive. It really is massive! At least 7 or 8 big buildings just for rooms. Over 10 swimming pools. Ok some are small but all the ones we saw were clean and in good condition. It has 1 "swim up" bar and a couple of "near the pool" bars. Resort size has pro's and con's. If like us you're in building 2, you're right at the front of the hotel. Pro: Very quiet and peaceful - away from the noise around the main pool during the day and entertainment / disco at night. Con: Quite a long walk everytime from the room to the restaurants and main pool. Pro: We also had our own pool right outside our building. So it depends on your preference really.

Rooms: Big, clean, and have all your basic amenities. Clean scale free kettle in the room. The hotel lets itself down by way of poor workmanship. We had something which I can only describe as a half partition wall separating the King size bed from the single bed, but it looked as though it was not part of the original room and was added later, simply using a couple of oversized screws which ended up stick out considerably. Also, you can clearly see drips of dried paint on the tiles in the bathroom. And not forgetting the broken toilet roll holder. These sorts of things are all minor but justify why this resort isn't 5 star. It doesn't pay great attention to detail as a 5 star would.

Water: You shouldn't drink the tap water, but there is plenty of mineral water available for free from the bars and restaurants. Generally, ice wasn't served with drinks, but they were still cool enough. Beers were sometimes chilled, sometimes not so chilled.

Restaurant: There is a whole separate building dedicated to the restaurants; 1 main buffet restaurant and 3 or 4 a la Carte restaurants. Now this was the interesting bit. Being indian vegetarians, our choices in all the restaurants was extremely limited and the food on offer didn't look that great. Although I should point out that they have a great pasta section (where they make a pasta dish how you want) and good choice of bread. However, upon bumping into the restaurant manager and head chef (these guys frequently walk around the main restaurant making sure everything is ok), this changed our perception of the food dramatically. All I can say is a GREAT BIG THANK YOU TO THE MANAGER (EL-SAYED) AND HEAD CHEF (RAMON) for the wonderful food and service you provided us during our stay. Upon telling these guys that we were finding it difficult to find decent vegetarian food, they treated us so well it was almost embarrassing. They made sure that for every lunch and dinner we had specially made food - great food - delivered to our table, whilst everyone else had the usual standard stuff from the buffet! This special experience was definitely a 5 star service.

Staff: Most were very friendly and helpful. You get the occasional person who is a bit moody or rude, but thats the case anywhere you go.

Location: Ok - not great. Taxi ride to Naama Bay (equivalent of a UK seeside resort like Bournemouth, Brighton etc), which is approx 35 Egyptian pounds. Lots of shops for souvenirs. Dont fall for the line "Please come into my shop and sign my guest book".

Lobby / Reception: Lobby is very huge, nice and comfortable. Staff are very friendly. Late check out is a bit extortionate ($20USD pp up to 4pm). Normal checkout is 12noon.

Hopefully the above gives you a clear and objective review of the resort.

In short - I would go back again, and I would recommend it to friends and family.
