“practically perfect”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 27, 2010

I have just returned from a two week get away at the Jaz Mirabel with my partner. We knew we wanted to go to Sharm for the guarenteed sun and good snorkelling. Not only that but good value for money so we booked a last minute deal all inclusive with Teletext.
However when booking the holiday, we were told we would be staying at the Jaz Mirabel Beach but when we arrived we found we were booked in the Jaz Mirabel Park. At first we thought this would be a problem but once we had settled in the smaller quieter Park resort we decided it was a much better deal than the Beach resort. Only mainly due to the Beach resort being pretty packed full of kids on half term plus it seemed very busy. So heads up, double check where you have been told you are booked in and where you are actually booked in with the hotel!

The Jaz Mirabel Park was almost perfect, hardly any faults in the hotel at all. We absolutely loved our two weeks there, with temps reaching to 37 degrees, we have returned very relaxed and tanned! The staff were faultless, very very accomodating and friendly. Simple things like holding doors open, remembering your drink, table at meal tmes, sun lounger preference. The staff work very long hours but still make you feel as if they are there just for you on your holiday and no one else mattered! In particular, Ahmed in the J.M Park Resort bar and Ismail who was one of the lifeguards in the J.M Club Resort so look out for them. Tips are expected but i wouldnt have necessarily known this until I read reviews on here, the staff certainly dont hint or wait for a tip.

The grounds are beautiful and very well kept, loads of birds too! You have the option on each resort to a cold pool or heated pool. Plus smaller pools for younger children. One tiny complaint would be that the pools could have been cleaner but it was hardly a problem and the pools were still lovely and refreshing after sun bathing. Showers around the pool were always kept clean. Loads of sun loungers with tables, you could move the beds around to wherever you wanted. Bar men would bring you drinks and even keep your preferred sun lounger by putting a towel on it!

The Russians were a problem but this is no fault to the hotel. They had no manners and would quiet happily push in front of you in queues and would be very rude to staff. Do not go to the restaurants when they first open as you would have to beat the stampede of huge Russain men. We found them very intimidating and tried to avoid at all costs!

Our room was a deluxe family room as they had no standard double rooms left. It was a small cost but well worth it. With a king size bed, sofa, balcony and terrace, large wet room, we had no problems at all! Clean sheets and towels every night, as well as dressing gowns! mini bars are not included in the all inclusive.

The only complaint i really have is the food... it was lovely 80% of the two weeks we were there but as we were all inclusive the food got a little repetitive by the end of our holiday. However, the quality of the food was vey high, always replenished and you could take as much as you wanted. However, with labels on only some of the dishes, it was hard to know what you were eating sometimes but it was all still very well cooked. Highly recommend the freshly cooked griddled prawns, rotisserie chicken and freshly pan fried steak, all done in front of you whilst you wait. A lot of other guests were complaining around us about the food but in our opinion, you could never go hungry there. There was always something to eat, be it a salad, veg, chips, meat, bread, soups. Failing that you could awlays make yourselves sandwiches if you didnt like any of the food served up.

I would highly highly recommend the snorkelling excursions you can book up to go on. It was a brilliant day, £35 for the whole day out at Ras Mohammed, a national park in Egypt. This price included the mask, snorkle, flippers, food, drinks and 3 x dives in amazing coral reef fish filled areas! We saw dolpins, giant sting ray and thousands of different fish. Loads of jellyfish but they were the harmless ones but still a little weird swimming in swarms of them! We also did the Sand Buggy excursion in the desert... it was ok but not the 4 hour drive we were promised, more like 1 hour.

All in all the hotel was amazing, I had been searching for a little while on the internet for good Sharm hotels and I would say that from what we had heard from other guests and other tourists at the aiport, we had the best deal with the hotel. It is a very relaxing hotel with not a lot to do but we loved that about it. If you want nightlife then this isnt the hotel to go to. It was very child friendly and catered for all peoples needs in my eyes. The facilites were good. you get approached by different staff members promoting the health club, excursions, hairdressers etc. One thing i will say, whatever price they say to you... offer half! We were totally ripped off on our second day with massages at the Spa. The massages were brilliant, i had an Egyptian one and my boyfriend had a Thai massage. The man said he couldnt budge in the price and we ended up paying 1000 eygptian pounds for two massages as we didnt barter enough with him. We later found out from other guests that alot of them had paid 500 LE for two! But i suppose this was our fault for being so naive!

Good tip - buy reef shoes if you want to go out and snorkle past the hotels jetty. We made the mistake of trying to walk bare foot and returned with very painful cuts from the coral and stings from the sea urchins! the shoes are about £3 and well worth it, even if you only use them the once!

Anyway, perfect holiday and the hotel was definitely more or less faultless! I would definitely return and would love to bring friends and family out with me next time! We are in our mid to late twenties and didnt really meet many people of the same age but enjoyed it all the same!

the highlights were the waterslides, the beach access and ability to do snorkelling and wind surfing at our door step. The poolside entertainment programme with Santwo and angel and team was great fun and kept all of us with extended breaks due to volcanic ash entertained! Great dancing by the pool.
The resort was clean, rooms clean and functional, easy access to poolside, great sauna and spa facilities and the pool side bars and restaurant served a variety of food that catered to all. All the staff were friendly and very polite.
We had a great holiday and excursions with thompson tours and I would recommend doing the red sea cruise with snorkelling.
Great place would revisit.

Firstly can I say that most of the reviews are more or less true, everyone has their own opinion and a holiday is what you make it yourself. What I will say is that if you have been to Sharm before then you will certainly compare this complex with whatever complex you stayed in before. On the whole the Jaz Mirabel Park is an OK complex, nothing to particularly rave about, we would certainly not go back after comparing to where we stayed last year, the complex is a bit far out and away from any activity but if it's just a relaxing break you are having then it's fine. Staff at complex are very good and very friendly. The Park and the Club can share facilities within the All Inclusive but you cant go to the Jaz Mirabel Beach in the evening for a drink without paying for it as the Beach is not part of the All Inclusive package for the Park and the Club. Except during the day, you can use the snack bar at the Mirabel Beach at the bottom end near the beach/promenade, it's called The Reef. One thing that is annoying is that a lot of people from the Mirabel Club do come over to the Park for the pools and the food and sometimes in the evening you cant find an empty table, most evenings the waiters have to clear a table for you if you are eating outside and beware when eating outside at any meal times as the birds are very friendly and will come to your table if anything is left around, so if you don't like birds then eat inside. Also check the contents of the mini bar in your room quite often as sometimes things are taken away by housekeeping ie sell by dates or whatever, and not quickly replaced and when you check out they try to charge you for anything that is missing, so if you find anything missing from the list detailing the contents, then report it to your Rep or to reception. Also,if you need to go the pharmacy when at this complex, do not use the one on site, there is one down the driveway and a few mins up the road to your left and then cross the road to the few shops that are there, prices are at least a third of what you will pay at the complex. If you like a stroll when the sun gets cooler, then head for the promenade down on the beach where you can walk (to your right) for a good bit and there are other jetty's along this walk that don't charge for you to walk out on, the jetty at this complex charge you £3. Yes, you will get some hassle walking along the Prom, but it's all part of the culture. Enjoy your holiday

Some Hints:
Best Block to stay in is Block G.. this is the sunniest area if you want sun all afternoon on your balcony.

Take plenty of protection for the mosquitoes and flying ants and insects, some of them bit quite badly.

Exchange rate : 8.5 Egyptian pounds in Sharm against 7.5/7.7 in the UK against our Pound

Taxi to Naama Bay: You will have to haggle but usually they settle for about 50-60 Egyptian Pounds (pay no more than that) but sometimes a taxi driver will offer you a return journey for 100 Egyptian Pounds (plus a little tip if they do well )which is payable on the return journey

Housekeeping: Generally tipping for the housekeeping in about 40 Egyptian per week, but if you split this midweek to say 20 and then 20 at end of week you will get little extras .... ie bath robes and lovely swans with flower petals made from the towels.

Porters: The porters who take your bags to your room, about 10 Egyptian Pounds or a £2 coin is well received.

Bar and Restaurant Staff - tipping in bar and restaurants is a sealed box and it;s up to you what or if you want to tip them, the tips in this box get divided between all the staff. If you get good service then it's approx 40 Egyptian per week you would put into the box

Very good hotel, confortable rooms and friendly staff. Very friendly and helpfull at the reception. Good food but breakfast was not very various, but also everything there was, was very good! Clean rooms and pools. Nice slides. Tables and tableclothes in the restaurant were dirty and sticky. Buffet in the was not "cosy". No flowers or other things to make up the buffet. Cold looking.

went with a friend for 1 week first week in easter hols. this is the 5th time of visiting sharm and for the first time ever found the airport very very busy, queues of people everywhere, this must be because of the holidays. arrived at hotel about 6.30 in evening and reception staff very friendly and sorted our room out right away. you go to the room and bell boy brings bags after. room very spacious with the huges shower ive ever seen. nice terrace with table and chairs.
food was of ok standard, always warm and loads of salads, fruit and meats. for those wanting burgers and chips these were served at the pool bar from 12 till 5.
pool area lovely and clean with plenty of sun beds but we had to get up early to get one.( again think its because of term time).
overall hotel very nice and staff very friendly and pleasant.

stayed at jaz mirabel park with my sister. Thought the hotel and staff were all amazing. It was never too much trouble for any of the staff to serve you and we did not tip until the last day of our holiday.
The hotel and rooms were spotless and staff were always cleaning the hotel and grounds..
The staff around the pool were excellent polite and friendly.
The food was very good and whilst sometimes we did have to wait for a table to be cleared it was never longer than a few minutes.
What you should remember is that you are in a foreign country and cannot expect everything to be similar to the UK.
The beach was very clean and always plenty of sun beds and windbreakers all free of charge.
Evening entertainment was a bit poor with just a singer and a weekly Egyptian night but this did not bother us as we sat outside sipping cocktails and chatting to the other guests.
Thank you Thomson First Choice, as always made our holiday very special.

Firstly I'd just like to say that I never ever write reviews on trips, restaurants, hotels or anything, however this hotel was that good I just had to make the effort to take the time to write a note.

I was a little apprehensive about holidaying in Egypt, I had be given mixed reviews from friends and had spent hours rigorously studying the reviews different people had left about hotels. However after some persuasion from the travel agent and a family member we decided to book the Jaz Mirabel resort. We booked our holiday on-line, with Thompsons, about 4 weeks before travel. Although we seemed to have paid a little over the odds for the holiday (£720 each for 1week all inc.), this was accountable to the fact that we went over the Easter weekend, and the extra security/and thus cost of booking with a reputable travel provider. (I checked the internet price everyday and it never got any cheaper so I would suggest 3-4 weeks prior is a good time to book). I have travelled many times with Thompsons and am always highly satisfied with their service.

One comment if you book with Thompson, pre-book your seats if you want to sit together, we arrived at the airport the statutory 'two hours before' and closest seats were 3 rows apart!! However returning home was not the same problem.

The hotel (only 15mins from airport and 1st drop off) was absolutely amazing, the Jaz Mirabel resort consists of 3 hotels, Club, Park and Beach. The Club and Park and similar , they both have 1 buffet style restaurant where main meals are served, and a pool bar for snacks, the Park hotel has the main lobby bar where the entertainment is. All guests can use these facilities. The beach hotel has a few more restaurants and pool bar etc which only beach guests can use, but anyone can sit round the pools. There is a snack bar on the beach where all guests can get service.

The food was gorgeous; loads of choice, really fresh; constantly being replenished, could not fault it. Drinks were nice, nice cocktails and the wine is good (this is on tap for self service in the restaurant, as is the beer). Alcoholic drinks are all inc. until midnight - be careful as some hotels only ensure all inc. is for 12hours... which can be 10am-10pm. Sealed, bottled water was available all day - and you can take as many as you like.

The staff are so lovely, they are very attentive and friendly, with out being too OTT. And show attention equally to all of the guests. The staff will literally bend over backwards to help you out... and obviously a little tip on the first day will ensure your sunbeds are reserved and you get the best table at dinner :)

Cleanliness at the hotel again could not be faulted; rooms, pool, communal areas, restaurant were all spotless and clean.

The animation team at the hotel were great fun. Particularly Angela and Christina. They were always friendly and chatty and not pushy when encouraging us to join in with activities... we chose not to get involved with the 'club dance' at the end of all the activities - but that song has managed to stick in my head since I've come home!

The pools are lovely, some heated and some freezing, the water slides were in a separate pool and attracted a lot of the children which made other areas nice and quiet. The resort also has a gym, which was very well equipped and surprisingly popular - particularly first thing morning and in the evening once the sun had gone down. There is also a spa; with jacuzzi, steam room, sauna, which is soooo relaxing and great for preparing you skin for the sun. We had a thai massage in the spa which I would highly recommend, it left me feeling very pampered, like I was floating on air.

We only left our resort alone once to meet up with some friends, this was a little daunting being 2 young females. There are different forms of transport so get advice from your rep on how to get around and what price you should pay - the taxi/bus drivers will try and rip you off, however on the other hand there's these white minibus/taxi that will drop you off and pick you back up for not much money. We went for a drink at The Three Crowns, an English run pub; music; karaoke, a little chavvy but great atmosphere if you want a change from your hotel bar.

The Jaz Mirabel resort is in Nabq, which is the opposite end of Sharm el Sheikh to Naama bay. We didn't visit Naama - partly because of distance and party because it had been likened to Blackpool! There isn't much to do in Nabq, but then again we didn't really feel the need to leave our hotel, it literally has everything you could possibly need.

Recommendations; the Thompsons VIP cruise and Sinai by starlight trips and really amazing

Tips; literally tips! Sadly my only gripe would be with tipping and haggling, and I understand that that is the culture and so happens at every resort/destination. I would advise that you take a bag on English pound coins, and tip with these. Also shops are more than happy to take any common currency so take English cash as well as Egyptian as it can help with the haggling... be wary that they often give you your change in mixed currency, and it doesn't normally add up!!!

Overall fantastic holiday, I would definitely go again and have already recommended it to all of my friends.
