I have just returned from a two week get away at the Jaz Mirabel with my partner. We knew we wanted to go to Sharm for the guarenteed sun and good snorkelling. Not only that but good value for money so we booked a last minute deal all inclusive with Teletext.
However when booking the holiday, we were told we would be staying at the Jaz Mirabel Beach but when we arrived we found we were booked in the Jaz Mirabel Park. At first we thought this would be a problem but once we had settled in the smaller quieter Park resort we decided it was a much better deal than the Beach resort. Only mainly due to the Beach resort being pretty packed full of kids on half term plus it seemed very busy. So heads up, double check where you have been told you are booked in and where you are actually booked in with the hotel!
The Jaz Mirabel Park was almost perfect, hardly any faults in the hotel at all. We absolutely loved our two weeks there, with temps reaching to 37 degrees, we have returned very relaxed and tanned! The staff were faultless, very very accomodating and friendly. Simple things like holding doors open, remembering your drink, table at meal tmes, sun lounger preference. The staff work very long hours but still make you feel as if they are there just for you on your holiday and no one else mattered! In particular, Ahmed in the J.M Park Resort bar and Ismail who was one of the lifeguards in the J.M Club Resort so look out for them. Tips are expected but i wouldnt have necessarily known this until I read reviews on here, the staff certainly dont hint or wait for a tip.
The grounds are beautiful and very well kept, loads of birds too! You have the option on each resort to a cold pool or heated pool. Plus smaller pools for younger children. One tiny complaint would be that the pools could have been cleaner but it was hardly a problem and the pools were still lovely and refreshing after sun bathing. Showers around the pool were always kept clean. Loads of sun loungers with tables, you could move the beds around to wherever you wanted. Bar men would bring you drinks and even keep your preferred sun lounger by putting a towel on it!
The Russians were a problem but this is no fault to the hotel. They had no manners and would quiet happily push in front of you in queues and would be very rude to staff. Do not go to the restaurants when they first open as you would have to beat the stampede of huge Russain men. We found them very intimidating and tried to avoid at all costs!
Our room was a deluxe family room as they had no standard double rooms left. It was a small cost but well worth it. With a king size bed, sofa, balcony and terrace, large wet room, we had no problems at all! Clean sheets and towels every night, as well as dressing gowns! mini bars are not included in the all inclusive.
The only complaint i really have is the food... it was lovely 80% of the two weeks we were there but as we were all inclusive the food got a little repetitive by the end of our holiday. However, the quality of the food was vey high, always replenished and you could take as much as you wanted. However, with labels on only some of the dishes, it was hard to know what you were eating sometimes but it was all still very well cooked. Highly recommend the freshly cooked griddled prawns, rotisserie chicken and freshly pan fried steak, all done in front of you whilst you wait. A lot of other guests were complaining around us about the food but in our opinion, you could never go hungry there. There was always something to eat, be it a salad, veg, chips, meat, bread, soups. Failing that you could awlays make yourselves sandwiches if you didnt like any of the food served up.
I would highly highly recommend the snorkelling excursions you can book up to go on. It was a brilliant day, £35 for the whole day out at Ras Mohammed, a national park in Egypt. This price included the mask, snorkle, flippers, food, drinks and 3 x dives in amazing coral reef fish filled areas! We saw dolpins, giant sting ray and thousands of different fish. Loads of jellyfish but they were the harmless ones but still a little weird swimming in swarms of them! We also did the Sand Buggy excursion in the desert... it was ok but not the 4 hour drive we were promised, more like 1 hour.
All in all the hotel was amazing, I had been searching for a little while on the internet for good Sharm hotels and I would say that from what we had heard from other guests and other tourists at the aiport, we had the best deal with the hotel. It is a very relaxing hotel with not a lot to do but we loved that about it. If you want nightlife then this isnt the hotel to go to. It was very child friendly and catered for all peoples needs in my eyes. The facilites were good. you get approached by different staff members promoting the health club, excursions, hairdressers etc. One thing i will say, whatever price they say to you... offer half! We were totally ripped off on our second day with massages at the Spa. The massages were brilliant, i had an Egyptian one and my boyfriend had a Thai massage. The man said he couldnt budge in the price and we ended up paying 1000 eygptian pounds for two massages as we didnt barter enough with him. We later found out from other guests that alot of them had paid 500 LE for two! But i suppose this was our fault for being so naive!
Good tip - buy reef shoes if you want to go out and snorkle past the hotels jetty. We made the mistake of trying to walk bare foot and returned with very painful cuts from the coral and stings from the sea urchins! the shoes are about £3 and well worth it, even if you only use them the once!
Anyway, perfect holiday and the hotel was definitely more or less faultless! I would definitely return and would love to bring friends and family out with me next time! We are in our mid to late twenties and didnt really meet many people of the same age but enjoyed it all the same!
