This is a well-appointed and comfortable hotel located in a less than appealing town. We stayed here only one night following our hike in the Chimborazo Reserve. We headed out early the next morning to ride the Devil Nose Train.
Our room was comfortable, with plenty of bedding – some of which we removed as it was too warm. Our room also had an electric heater for those cold evenings.
The grounds were lovely, and we enjoyed a short stroll before dinner. We had no energy to search for a restaurant – and frankly, did not wish to leave the gated grounds (there was a security guard who manned the gate).
The service at the restaurant was very attentive; however, I found the prices very inflated! We had our most expensive meal to date and the food was above average – two glasses of wine, 1 appetizer, 2 mains was $72.
We asked and received an early breakfast – 5:00am as we had to be in Alausi in time to catch the 8:00am boarding of the Devil Nose Train.
Overall, enjoyable stay for an evening.More
