Beautiful hotel ! We had a huge bedroom ! Very comfortable bed and big bathroom. The hotel is very nicely decorated . We loved the food and in the evening the local handy craft market gave a very pretty atmospher .

Room Tip: We had a double room with two beds , normally we like the kingbed , but the advantage was that we ha...

A nice quiet location. Our room faced the courtyard and was a little dark and noisy. Try to get one of the rooms facing the big open yard. The service was very prompt and friendly. Good buffet breakfast.

Room Tip: try not to get a courtyard room.

Rooms were large and courtyards etc very romantic. Big fireplace in some rooms. With a fire burning when returning from dinner.
Unfortunately the electrical installations and the shower did not work well.

Restaurant was "famous" and dishes were also a bit extraordinary, but this is Ecuador so it still boils down to some beef or chicken with some accompanying potato/corn and a bit of vegetables.

Had a very early breakfast which probably does not represent what they serve at 6-7 or 8.
Also arrived late so may not be able to appreciate all that there may have been.
Free WiFi all over - at least sufficient for mails and simple surfing.

This is a very nice property with rooms spread over a fairly large area of two to four rooms per building. King bads are a nice find in Ecuador. The restaurant id very nice and food was good. Breakfast is either a buffet or to order depending on the number of guests. Both were adequate. Chickens roaming the grounds may awaken you in the morning.

Room Tip: Depending on the level to which the hotel is booked you will likely be able to choose a room after t...

Abraspungo is a real gem. Riobamba is not.
We were driving from Quito to Cuenca and decided to visit Riobamba and found this jewel of a Hacienda. The place is full of rustic charm. The rooms are beautiful and quite spacious. The restaurant was another incredible find. Probably the best food we had since we have been in Ecuador and very reasonably priced.

Room Tip: we stayed in room 125

We went to Abraspungo for lunch on our return journey from Cuenca to Quito and although we were impressed with the place when we got off the main road, we were treated with nothing close to civility since we walked in. We were shown to our table by a nice man, but the waiter was very surly and possibly had his smiling muscles removed at birth. We were not spoken to again for 20 minutes when we finally had our orders taken, and then another hour before our food arrived. My son went for the Chicken and Pesto raviolli, which upon arrival looked like a luminous green plate of mush - I was surprised he ate about a third before saying he didn't want anymore. My mother from England had fish in a sauce (I forget what sauce), and she said the fish was nice, but all the vegetables were cold, and raw. My wife had seafood with rice, and said it was ok, I had the fruits of the sea with tagliatelle - where the fruits of the sea turned out to be a handful of shrimp, some baby octopus and some calamari. The shrimps were fine, the other cephalopods were overcooked and had the texture of a formula 1 type. My daughter took the safe option - chicken nuggets and chips. Well, I say safe. The chips were rock hard, and the nuggets were dry and flaky. Combined with my Americano coffee that looked exactly like an Espresso, I felt that our lunch here was a big miss. We won't be returning ever again, and neither will our clients for our tour company.
