We booked La Casa de “Luis” from the Central Andes and arrived one day later. We’d planned to visit Otavalo but thought that we’d discover San Pablo where we’d get a good rest in a pretty house. San Pablo is a short bus ride away from Otavalo and is nestled between a gorgeous lake and a mountain. The neighborhood, Araque, was charming, the vibes were super, and we wound up spending much time exploring by foot, both day and night. Buses to Otavalo were easy to use and served as great site-seeing vehicles for our short stay.
Best of all, our hosts, Luis, Germania and their daughter Kelly, were great pals. We passed one day hiking with Luis on the mountain where, as a child, he gathered firewood with his mother. He provided much historical and cultural information in great English. All our needs were addressed: a cozy fire in the fireplace; eggs and lovely fresh fruit in the morning, just right; clean, quiet, secure. Casa de “Luis” was a great find. We’re recommending it.
