We spent three nights here relaxing before our Galapagos 2-week cruise. We spent one day touring the area, and two just relaxing. There were very few guests while we were there, so not much was going on. Our room, in the main building was very nice, and kept very clean. This hacienda is not a place for people who want to be in the middle of town, but it was great for what we wanted. Taxi service to Otovalo or other places to shop or dine is very reasonable ($5-7).

Thank you for spending such time composing such an appreciative, detailed review. And how good it was that you enjoyed such peace during low-season. Regresa pronto!

Beautiful place. Beautiful country. Beautiful people! This authentic hacienda is outside Octaval ... it's out little world with gorgeous gardens, riding stables, and shot walk to the local village.Wonderful staff and great restaurant!

Room tip: All rooms are unique and beautiful. Very roomy spaces, some with fireplaces and most with sitting areas.

We arrived at the hacienda at night for our two day stay. The area surrounding the Hacienda is sparse to say the least. We were then led to a cottage at the far end of the property. I was really questioning the reviews here on TA, that was until we awoke in the morning. The grounds are fantastic, though the room is a bit sparse and worn but the working fireplace made up for all. Meals were fine, as was service, public areas nice, and we enjoyed an hour of horseback riding. Would definitely stay her if visiting the Octavalo area

The early morning sun reveals what the night does not: extensive gardens, a 14,000' mountain, etc. And few garden lights preserve nesting hummingbirds and resting plants.

Thank you for your detailed review, and definite recommendation of Cusin for others. Regresa pronto!

Our grandchildren, ages 8 + 10 loved the Hacienda ( so did we). Our room was great, the food was good + the grounds ( including the Monastery + the sables) were gorgeous. There was so much for the kids to do on the grounds ( run around, look at animals, horse back ride, play in the playground, fibpnd the secret passageway). Then I got bitten by a goose ( one of the animals in the stable area). I was surprised that they had a animal running around that would bite someone ( I'm glad it was me, not my grandchildren). The bite was swollen + painful and I was unhappy, but I'm okay. I hope they got rid of the goose.

Thank you for taking such valuable time to discover so many aspects of the estate and compose such an enthusiastic review. Cusin and El Monasterio is, indeed a children's paradise!

I'm sorry that mother goose was so defensive of her goslings but relieved to know that you recovered well. I'm looking forward to eating the goose for dinner! Regresa pronto!

We chilled here for a break after 8 days in the Galapagos and it was the perfect counterpoint. The garden cottages are a delight and the main house, with lounge, dining room, bar was perfect for relaxing. A great location for visiting Otavalo, Tren de la Libertad etc. Just one gripe - a first world problem, my kids would say - the generators played up on our last day, the wi fi went down and I missed the end of a Six Nations match.... must remember to get a life :-)

Yes, Cusin is a retreat from our hectic and demanding lives. Fortunately, all missed television programs and sports have been recorded and can be viewed in the future, endlessly!

Thank you for taking such time to describe and appreciate some of Cusin's facilities.
