It's great walk up to the Condor Park, and the park is larger than I had imagined. There are at least 20 raptors on display in large cages, included Andean condors and harpy eagles. It's a nice setting and a relaxing place to walk around. Well worth it!

If you enjoy wildlife you will like the work they are doing at Parque Condor. Their mission is two fold- protect wild and rehabilitate injured raptors, and educate local children about the importance of these animals. They fund this by offering tourists the opportunity to walk through their beautifully landscapped park and see rehabilitaing raptors and resident birds that cannot be released, as well as see educational flying demonstrations of some of these birds.
The demo ampitheater has an incredible panoramic view of the Otovalo Valley below and volcan Imbabura above. We did not have near enough time here on our tour for us to truly enjoy all there was to see. If you enjoy wildlife, you could easily spend 2 hours or more observing all the birds, including the majestic resident condors and attending a demo.
Facilities, such as bath and shop were excellent and we were told that infrastructure and road improvements made to build the park, also benefited the local village and the park hires many local people.

This place is located high above the valley, with fantastic views, well built facilities and beautiful flower gardens. This is a tremendous service for the raptor birds, to return them to health, and house and display those that can't fend for themselves. Birds such as the Harpy Eagle, Andes Condors, Bald Eagles - many many birds. We thoroughly enjoyed it.

The park itself was alright, but I definitely wouldn't go if you weren't going to be there during one of the two daily shows (11:30am and 4:30pm). The shows are great as you get to see the birds up close. However, it's the view that is my favourite part. On a clear day it's a great view of both Cotacachi and Imbabura.

Be warned that the weather can change quite suddenly. It got quite windy while we were there. It's worth having your hotel call ahead to make sure the shows are going to happen. We were lucky enough to have a live Andean condor fly overhead during our visit. Though it sounds like that's quite a rarity.

This was a nice few hours watching the birds of prey fly around the valley. If you go, you must go during one of their flights as this is the highlight of the park.
