Pros - good location near Malecon, lovely hotel rooms, nice breakfast, delicious food at restaurant, good sized hotel rooms, very nice complimentary toiletries, comfy beds, wonderful staff!

Cons - Downtown location means that the shops very close by will close with office hours

We recently stayed at the Hotel Palace for 4 nights with a group of 14 people for a family wedding. I don't usually gush in my reviews but I have to truthfully say that the staff were the best I have ever encountered at any star hotel in the world. From the maid service to the front desk every single person was very friendly, cheerful and extremely helpful!

The maids were even so kind as to bring us buckets and garbage bags for the 200 roses that we were making into center pieces and bouquets in our room. The front desk was wonderful about answering questions, hiring taxis and taking care of our reservations. The lovely lady at the concierge desk was even so kind as to go and find some straight pins for us to use for boutonnieres.

The hotel itself if quite lovely, the rooms are very lovely with the coffered ceilings and decorative lighting. For a small amount more than a king room we booked a suite which gave us an additional sitting area. That sitting area ended up being a flower shop, dressing room and photography studio to take pictures of the bride!!

In our group we also booked double rooms, kings size rooms and cots. All of which were lovely.

This hotel is a gem in what can be a rough country. We loved every moment we were there!

Room Tip: For a small amount more book a suite instead of a king size room. Also the cots are a good size and very comfortable.

We stayed here for 3 nights to re-charge our batteries before travelling home from our tour of south america. The hotel was as many have described it. Clean, comfortable bed. And pillows, excellent English speaking TV channels. The was lots of choice at breakfast and the French toast was yummy. The staff, well this is where I found myself wanting to give a higher score but couldn't. The confused us from the day we arrived until check out. Told us tours were running and they weren't. offered us a late check out at check in and then withdrew it? Given this, I would still choose to come back to the hotel for all it's positive points - food, comfort, location and air con. You'll need it because it a hot city.

It totally surprised me. The hotel has gone through a major renovation and the the quality of the rooms, food, service, courtesy of the personnel, does not ask anything to a Marriott or Hilton hotel. I stayed for 10 days there, and had a fantastic experience. Centrally located in the downtown of Guayaquil, everything is close by. The hotel restaurant, although it has a limited menu, the food is incredible.

We stayed here from Sept 14 to Sept 18 and were more than satisfied. The personnel went out of their way to be helpful, and the rooms were super clean. The breakfast buffet was free and delicious. It's only a short distance (easy walking) from the magnificent malecon. The concierge Jenifer is extremely knowledgeable and helpful. The restaurant has a good selection and the food is very well prepared. The room prices are very reasonable. A good choice.

Room Tip: I'd guess all the rooms are good.

We were headed for the Galapagos and learned in our research that all the AirGalflights from Quito stop at Guayaquil. So rather than add Quito, we saved a few dollars by booking a flight from Miami directly to Guayaquil and then a few days later to Baltra Galapagos. The hotel is 3 blocks from the water front and is in a nice location. We walked around at night and felt safe, but like all big cities, not advised. The rooms were very clean and modern, done very tastefully. I seriously doubt anyone could have a problem with the rooms based on décor or layout. The breakfast service was very good and offered full wait staff, cook to order pancakes, waffles, eggs and a fairly good breakfast bar layout. Way better than most hotels who offer breakfast as part of the room cost. The airport is only 10 minutes away and the taxi fare was $5 USD. The water front is easy access from the hotel and worth a walk as the government has spent a lot on modernizing the water front. So for a good price in a great location, I do not think you will go wrong. I would stay there again.
