We stayed at the Holiday Inn Guayaguil Airport on two separate occasions within a week as we transited through Guayaquil and left with positive feelings; here's why.
The HIGA is barely a five minute walk from the airport. It was raining when we arrived and were grateful to having the hotel shuttle there for us. Word of caution: the ride from the hotel back to the airport is much longer because of the circuitous route. If you are physically able, the walk back to the airport will be shorter than the shuttle.
The hotel itself pretty much gleams from outside to inside. The lobby was modern and seemed like a nice place to hang out and use the effective WiFi. The staff at the desk was effectively bilingual (English/Spanish), friendly and efficient.
The room was nicely furnished and clean. The room darkened well and was quite. The bed was firmly comfortable but the feather pillows too mushy for my taste.
The breakfast buffet was nice but a poor value.
Taxi rides to nearby attractions were mostly less than $5.
Overall, we were pleased with the HIGA and would return under similar circumstances.
