This is a nice, clean walk overlooking the river/estuary. Flowering plants float along on top of the brown silty water. The malecon has several things that are interesting, including a beautiful, well-maintained garden area, a building full of touristy shops (no bathroom), and a couple of “food courts” that have reasonably priced food — and coffee. Bathrooms are separate from these and cost 10 cents for toilet paper (bring your own and sanitizer). You can start near the Cerro and walk downtown or the reverse. If middle of day, do reverse, since you can end at the museum and cool down. It’s hot!

This is a good walk along the river. WAY too hot during the day. Lots of things for families. Can be a long walk if you go all the way. At one end is an indoor mall with food, stores, small market. The small market is like a mini Target.

The thing about the Malecon is that you can do almost anything here. Shopping, stroll about, see and be seen, have a beer, feed the fish, I could go on.
Walk a few yards or a couple of miles - it's up to you.

Malecon 2000 is a promenade area on the banks of the Guayas River, located within a 10 minute walk from Iguana Park. The area is full of tourist attractions, a supermarket, souvenir shops, a ferris wheel and a park where we spent the afternoon surrounded by iguanas, squirrels, turtles, egrets and ducks that we could feed for only 25 cents from food dispensers available nearby.

Lots to do with playgrounds, amusement park type areas, shops, and plenty of restaurants! And right on the ocean!
