“Worth a stroll - you'll definitely go”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 18, 2012

Safe and interesting enough for a bit of a stroll. Seems good for kids, the locals use it a lot and there's food outlets and a bit of a shopping centre. Craft shops etc at one end and the other has Museum/Cinema/Auditorium etc. Theres also a nod at a botanical area and a place where you can find out about Tren Ecuador. Nothing special but good for a walk and above all - safe.

“Pleasant pedestrian walk way along the river”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 3, 2012

Everything is relative, so this Malecon is no doubt a huge improvement over what was there before. But it's not that exciting a tourist experience. The best feature is that it's obviously appreciated and used by locals, so there's a real ambiance. Guayaquil is a busy commercial city, and picturesque tourist sights are not in abundance. So viewed this way, the Malecon is a nice break from the monotony of the rest of the city, and allows a plesant river-side stroll, fortunately with areas of shade (from the tropical sun and humidity), and a few interesting sights along the way (such as the "Moorish Tower").

“A credit to the city”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 30, 2012

This walkway and garden area along the river is a credit to the city. Paved areas close to river with shady walkways amongst the trees and shrubs. Interesting flowers, plants and birds abound. Plenty of drink and ice-cream stalls. Free loos which were very clean. Good security.
