“Best place in town”

444 steps to get there, walking through nice small streets with colourful houses.
And 360 degrees view at the top is pretty amazing!

“ENJOY GUAYAQUIL FOR ONLY A FEW STEPS (PRICELESS)”
Reviewed October 26, 2013

This was the tour(climb more like it) to do young or old cause you only live once and it was free of charge. A well preserved community in Guayaquil where many original home owners still reside. Many have businesses they run from their homes. You will find bars, stores, restaurants and souvenir shops as you take this walk of history to the top of Guayaquil. No need to count the steps because they are all numbered for you. At the top you will find a beautiful church (cathedral like) and be able to view the entire center of Guayaquil. This is also a great place to enjoy nightlife in Guayaquil for only a few stairs.

“Worth the hundreds of steps”
Reviewed October 3, 2013

A beautiful step into Guayaquil's past history, Las Peñas is a lovely and very colorful colonial barrio at the end of The Malecon 2000. Take the walk up the 400+ stairs to get amazing views of Guayaquil, old and new. There is also a very cool lighthouse at the top. As we were limited on time, we did not explore the neighborhood very much, but there were some galleries at the beginning and many restaurants/cafes along the way.

“A hard climb but worth the views”
Reviewed September 15, 2013

This small hill side village at the end of the Malecon is a must see. Wear comfortable shoes and be prepared for quite a hard walk up the many steps to the lighthouse at the top.
I went early morning when it was cool and so it was very quiet although I think it will be much more lively in the evening when all the little bars and restaurants are open.
The houses are beautifully painted in pastel colours and its a great way to see what old Guayaquil looked like
As a women on my own I felt very safe. Both here in Malecon and the pubic parks there are plenty of security people around and I was never hassled by anyone
