We stayed at this guest house last night and it was great. We got a taxi from the bus station which is only 10mins away and cost $3. The room was spotlessly clean with AC, a flat screen TV, bathroom with a bath and the biggest bed I have ever seen! The only negative is that the road outside was a little noisy although when I looked out there wasn't much traffic. The breakfast was nice with scrambled eggs with ham on toast and a nice fresh juice, we were also able to help ourselves to fruit. The most impressive thing about the guest house was how helpful the owner was. She phoned the bus terminal to find out about buses to Cuenca for us and then when we came to leave the following morning she phoned a taxi for us but found they were busy and so she hailed a taxi in the street and escorted us to the bus terminal for our bus to Cuenca. She didn't take us to the terminal though and instead took us to a posh minibus service. She said Guayaquil bus station could be a little dangerous and so wanted to make sure we got our bus safely. She wouldn't accept any money for the taxi she had to take back home either. That really was amazing service and I wouldn't hesistate to recommend this guest house

I am about to make my second reservation for this B&B. So, it is about time that write about my first experience, which was very pleasant. Why else would I be staying the second time? :))

The owners are reliable and pleasant, though they do not speak English and somebody else answers their email. But emails are answered, reservations are confirmed, and they do arrange for meeting you at the airport.

The place is very clean, very close to the airport (which is good if you are in transit, but not otherwise). For my purposes, as I was and will be on my way to Cuenca it is fine.

I was met, as promised, at the airport. And though, at first, the charge of $10 seemed to be rather steep, for Ecuador, and for how close the place is to the hotel, I later realized that it is sort of justified. My plain was late, a few hours lat, but Fillipe was waiting for me, sign in hand (they later tried to to talk me in paying more than $10, but I was firm).
But the charge for bringing me to the van stations was around $4. In fact, they explain that the charge for meeting clients at the airport is so high, because a lot of flight checking and waiting is involved

The room was VERY clean. Very pleasant, Japanese style. The shower worked fine and had plenty of hot water, which is not that common in Ecuador. There was working air conditioner. The breakfast was adequate, though coffee was instant :( But I was promised REAL coffee upon return. We shall see.

I am looking forward to staying at the same place. And perhaps even will stay an extra day in the city, to have a glimpse of it.

I found the place at trip adviser, on the suggestion of the first reviewer. And I recommend that you follow the 3 of us, if you do not want to pay $100 plus for spending a night on your way to another city in Ecuador

We booked on Tabuba's website, a double room for $44.60 including breakfast. Pickup from the airport cost $10 extra, which was pricey for there (it was less than 10 minutes from the airport) but return to the airport, or in our case, to a bus depot, was$4.00.We arrived into Guayaquil very late at night due to a canceled flight , but were very relieved to find Mr. Miranda waiting for us, holding up a big sign with our names on it. He was able to speak some English, which was helpful, and arranged to pick us up in the morning to catch a bus. Again, he was on time and gave us good advice about which bus to take to our destination. There was a computer in the lobby for guests to use the internet. The room was clean and relatively new. The bed was firm, the water was hot. Breakfast was an omelette, juice, coffee and fruit. But bring earplugs! Our room overlooked a busy street and traffic noise was significant. Overall, a pleasant experience.

The Tabuba Guest House is without doubt, the cleanest hostal I have ever stayed in. It is absolutely spotless! It is only two months old and the pictures of the rooms on their site are exactly how they look in person. The decor is very simple and modern and each room has a private bath with hot water, soap and shampoo. It is quiet and really close to the airport. I'm not sure, but I might have been the only guest the night I stayed and that's why it was so quiet. I felt very safe there, which is important to me, traveling alone. If you know Guayaquil, there are lots of very unsafe places. So this one was a treat. I just spent one night there on my way back to Cuenca from The States. It's on a residential street and I have no idea what sort of restaurants or entertainment there is nearby, since I really just went there to sleep for the night. They also had a great breakfast with coffee, juice an omelet and toast (which was prepared for me at whatever time I requested). They also offer an airport transfer for $10, which included pick-up AND drop-off at the airport. The owners are very friendly and helpful. It's a small place without any outdoor seating. There is a small sitting area in the lobby where you are welcome to use the internet. I have stayed at 3 different Hostels/Hotels in Guayaquil and in the future will always stay at the Tabuba. It's more expensive than the average hostal, but the private room price was totally worth it to me. I would highly recommend The Tabuba Guest House.
