We stayed at the Marriott with 2 adults and 2 kids. Felt fairly secure and rooms slept 4, which isn't always possible in South America. There is an airport shuttle but it isn't always available . Easy enough to get a cab for $5 each way. There is a modern mall in walking distance for shopping or meals. Original reservation said breakfast included but not when we got there.

Room Tip: Keep a printout of what they offer as we were given a lesser room than promised.

Nice hotel, very comfortable, good rooms, nice and friendly staff, well located near shopping malls and just a few minutes from the airport.

We stayed here for 3 nights at the end of July for a convention, The hotel is new and the rooms are in great condition. We had a king room and the bed was comfortable and there was enough space in the room. There was also a bar fridge and a safe both of which we used. Our deal included the buffet breakfast which was nice, I would have liked a few more choices in the buffet, but it was hot and fresh. The hotel is located within a few minutes walking distance of 2 malls and a McDs. and a Grand Chef buffet. The only thing I didn't like was that on Friday night, traffic was gridlocked out front of the hotel, but that's not their fault. Hotel was clean, safe, good safe parking, modern, nice outdoor pool on the roof. Really happy we stayed there. See them at www.marriott.com/hotels/hotel-deals/gyecy-courtyard-guayaquil/

Room Tip: I asked for a room on a higher floor to get a better view.

I stayed 3 nights at the Courtyard Marriott Guayaquil in June 2011. After some rather average experiences at the Hilton and Sheraton in Guayaquil I was positively surprised by the Courtyard Marriott. It started with the very warm welcome from the receptionist during check-in. The whole staff was extremely friendly during my whole stay, if it were the people at the reception, the waiters in the restaurant or the security people.
I booked a superior room at just 120 €/night, incl. taxes, excl. breakfast, which was located on the highest floor of the hotel. It was a very nice, spacious and nicely decorated room with all the conveniences you would need: free high-speed cable internet connection, free drinking water (that was refilled daily), free coffee machine, a nice flat-screen TV, a very comfortable double bed and a nice, well organized working area. I had an impressing view over the city: you could see the airplanes starting and landing from the nearby airport, the Cerro Santa Ana, the World Trade Center, the Puente de de la Unidad Nacional etc. Although the hotel is located at a busy avenue (Av. Orellana) and nearby the airport, the noise level in my room was surprisingly low. You could just hear the windows sometimes making a strange cracking noise.
The bathroom was huge and very clean. Compared to the nicely decorated room it looked more spartan and functional, but it was absolutely perfect to me.
On the top floor you can find a small swimming pool and a fitness room with a splendid view over the city.
I didn't have breakfast, but I tried out the restaurant. The service was very good, the waiters were more than just friendly. I had a Ceviche de Camarones, an excellent local dish. Unfortunately, they weren't allowed to serve alcohol that day, which is usual on Sundays in Ecuador. The food was really very good, at absolutely fair prices.
Just one block away is a nice shopping centre, the San Marino Mall, with a big Food Court and some restaurants. Another mall, the Mall del Sol, the biggest Mall in Guayaquil, is just a 5-10 minutes drive away from the hotel. There you can find plenty of nice restaurants. Try out the "Spaghetti"!
I have finally found "my" hotel when staying in Guayaquil. I can highly recommend thCourtyard by Marriott to both, tourist and business travellers.

for the price they charged me, $140+, it was not worth it. they dont have own parcking garage, they used a public one which charges people not staying at hotel.
the value is stupidly insane which doesnt include breakfast. if you wanna stay at a hotel of this same standards, go to HJ, its 40% cheaper and incluides breakfast.
