“Nice little hotel.”
Reviewed August 25, 2008

The guide books say that Trogir is a gem on the Dalmation coast - and it is. A medieval town, full of atmospheric alleyways and squares, surrounded by historic buildings and churches, the town is crammed with friendly restaurants and bars.
The Trogir Hotel is a small, family run hotel, opened last year in a town house converted to a high standard. The rooms are well furnished and spotlessly clean. There is an attractive patio restaurant, serving all the local stuff. The staff are friendly and helpful. The only adverse comment is the rather confused administration. A bit of work needed there guys!
The hotel is situated next to a small residential area near the football pitch, and so is a bit quieter than the neighbourhood near the bridge at the other end of the island, which is a relief as the town does get quite busy. Everything is within 10 minutes walk, and is very photogenic.
Restaurants do tend to have similar menus so you know that much of the stuff is caterers readymeals. Avoid that and head for the grilled fresh local fish and steaks which are particularly good at the Toma, or go up market at Monikas. Here you can eat under the trees in a delightful garden surrounded by medieval buildings. The grilled lamb is really good. Friendly service greets you everywhere, although the spirit of Communism is still alive and well at the Capo.
Then there is the ice cream - yum!

For a small place, this little town does attract a lot of tourists. But its gorgeous and has a lot going for it. Its great for a family holiday or a place to visit with friends.

I visited Trogir with some of my colleagues after a strenuous conference in Split and needed some R&R. We stayed in a small 3 star hotel, Hotel Trogir. The place was reasonable, comfortable and clean; the service excellent and the food was simple but well cooked. The people were very warm, friendly and hospitable. It helped that most spoke English very well so communication was easier.

I would recommend both the town and the hotel to anyone who wants a comfortable holiday with some historical sight seeing, clear waters and beaches, and stunning scenery.
