Owner description: The cathedral, called St. John among local citizens, is the highest building in Trogir, dominating the area.

The cathedral itself is beautiful from both the inside and the outside, of course. Something you probably wouldn't expect in such a small historic town. Not as elaborate design as the one in Aachen or Milan, but definitely a Mediterranean beauty. The view from the bell-tower is breathtaking. (I haven't been on the walls of the fortress, but my friend told me that the view is not nearly as good there as it is on top of this cathedral.)

If you have a fear of heights, you should not climb the cast-iron stairs. You will be scared to death and others will probably be annoyed to have to wait for you as there is too little space for two-way traffic.

The architecture in this cathedral is simply beautiful. There is also an amazing collection of relics in the treasury. The climb to the top of the bell tower left me breathless in the heat and humidity, but the views from the top were breathtaking!!

This may be the finest cathedral visit in all of Dalmatia. It seems to have survived the wars with minimal damage and is architecturally and artistically superb.

Trogir is a beautiful town, and the Cathedral is just as lovely. Enter through the main doors and take note of the intricate stonework. The church itself is not all that opulent inside, but it does have some beautiful treasury items that date back many years, After spending our time inside, we then made our way up the bell tower,The climb itself is broken into two parts, with the second climb being a little more rigorous, The views from the tower are great-they give you a better perspective of Trogir itself, as you see the narrow lanes, rooftops, and the gleam of the water.

It costs K25 to go into the cathedral, baptistery, treasury and up the bell tower. (You need to have your shoulders covered or you can't go in). In the treasury they have silverware from the 14th century and books from the 13th century; pretty amazing.
Great views from the bell tower. Quite steep narrow stairs to go up. The bells rang for 12 midday just before we got to the church. Lucky we weren't up the bell tower then as you are right next to the bells! It was supposed to have two bell towers but the first one took 400 years to build so they didn't do the second one.
