Villa Fani - Apartments in Trogir
Ranked #21 of 130 Specialty Lodging in Trogir
Reviewed June 30, 2014

We stayed 6 day in a 8. Studio apartman which have a nice view to see. The apartmant was modern (Flat Tv,Hifi, streng Wifi), clear, and well-equipped. Trogir's Old town is beatufull, and close to Fani. It was ~700m - 10 minute hard walk. The owner of the villa is a very fiendly lady, Arrival we got colt beer an water, and when we leave we got a littel surprice :)

Our first stay in Trogir 2 years ago was in a villa at the main road, closer to the old town. It was a night mare with all the motorbike noise. This year's choice of villa Fani was a good change! You are still close to the old town, but far enough from the horrible scooters. The owner of the villa is very friendly lady ready to help you with all your wishes. The room is clean, the bathroom as well. This all for fair price. And the view to the sea from our room and balcony is price less.

We stayed in a superior apartment which was really nice and had been recently renovated. I think that the standard rooms however are all quite dated, but most importantly are clean and well equipped. It's walking distance to Trogir which is beautiful, but actual Ciovo (where the villa is) isn't the nicest part of Dalmatia. The nearest beach is very touristy lined by bars and next to a main road but if you're happy to venture off the beaten track we found some nice quiet spots on the coast where you can sunbathe on platforms and swim/snorkel. The villa is walking distance to Trogir so you don't need a car, but it is quite a steep hill to get home and some people with less mobility may struggle. The driveway to the villa is also very steep.

We rented a superior 1-bedroomed apartment with balcony for 3 nights and were on the whole pleased with it. It apparently sleeps 2-4 people but frankly that must feel exteremly claustorphobic- it's tiny. You can see the sea from a distance through the trees- I had hoped we'd be closer to it but you're so high up- you have to be fit or prepared to get fit even walking down the steep drive was a challenge.
The air-conditioning is a must in the summer- there's just one unit in the living room which is adequate for such a small flat- keep your bedroon door open (and the windows shut anyway as there are a few mozzies around).
The main road which eventually leads to Villa Fani is a perpetual traffic jam and you just wish you'd left your car behind and walked- except when you come up those hills! I didn't like the beaches- here as everywhere in Coatia- there's no sand- the choices are: pebbles, gravel or concrete so I can't say I'd want to go back but Trogir is so so pretty.
The family who own the block, and live in it, are very friendly and helpful.

Fani lives on site and is friendly helpful and her English is adequate for most issues.
Do not be put off by this review as for some people the apartment will be just what they want.
For us, the photos conveyed something which was a bit more modern than it is.
You are in Trogir I suppose but do not think that you can walk easily to the Old Town and the bus is close but you have some hills to climb; a consideration if old / aged etc. I am old so I can say that but I am also fit / my wife could not "handle" the hils well. So you might need to be "in" Trogir as opposed to "nearby"?
We found the taxis more expensive here than in Zadar.
The apartment was very difficult to find with our rental car (you might need Sat Nav) and at the top of 3 steep but short hills. On some occasions the car + 4 adults + 4 suitcases was in danger of not "making it"!
The seaview rooms are not seaview as trees now obscure the view.
Take a ferry to Split £3 one way from the bridge on Villa Fani side of Trogir.
Try the Riva restauarant for good views good food at a reasonable price.
