“RETURN TO VILLA JIDRO”

RETURN TO THE VILLA JIDRO

This year on our return to Trogir in Croatia, we decided to book the apartment in the Villa Jidro instead of our usual double room. Our son and daughter in law were supposed to be coming with us this time but unfortunately a road accident prevented them from coming.
The apartment, Room 8, is situated on the first floor and commands a stunning view over the harbour which is easily as good as anything you will see in the South of France.
It consists of a double bedroom, shower room and a cooking and dining area, should you wish to self cater. This also holds the pull out double bed which serves as a sofa for lounging around on.
Fully equipped with television and modern up to date appliances this is the sort of room that would cost you into the hundreds in the UK.
Spotlessly clean as always, it is difficult to imagine getting better value in accommodation anywhere.
Full marks once again to the Villa Jidro!

I`t is a small hotel with clean and ordinary rooms, there was what we expected in the room . The staff was very freindly and helpfull, the manager is super.
The location was superp for visit the old town of Trogir 2 min. walk. Thats all. Just over on the other side of the street from the hotel there is a little ferry there takes you to Split it takes about 1 hour. Lovely place. If we`re going to Trogir again we will absolutely stay at that hotel Again.

This hotel is just perfect for visiting Trogir and Split, being just across the bridge from old Trogir and right across from the Split ferry stop. On our first night we shared a small twin room which had enough space for twin beds and night tables, a small fridge and its own small bathroom. All were spotlessly clean and fresh. We had a fantastic view of the sea between the mainland and Ciovo, and the little island Trogir itself is situated on. Needing more space, for our next two nights we moved upstairs to a small apartment with a bedroom, large bathroom, and a sitting room with a kitchen/dining area and a couch which converted to a bed (which was very comfortable).
We were greeted on arrival by the afternoon/night lady, Maja, a relation of the owners who had organised a parking space for us across the street on the pavement bordering the harbour. It is best to pre-book the parking as it is very limited in the area, and management will park a vehicle nearby ahead of time which they will then move to allow you into the space when you arrive :-). Maja was very helpful and friendly and during our stay we had some lovely chats with her. She was also great for restaurant recommendations, our last night of our holiday was just magical thanks to Maja.
Breakfast was the usual European breads, ham, cheese, fruit, cereal and coffee organised by the day staff, a married couple who own the hotel. They were also friendly and helpful, assisting us with our luggage and other issues.
There is a great bakery just down the street as well as a couple of grocery stores, and Trogir is a two minute walk across the bridge. Trogir has dozens of restaurants, or you can visit the markets and buy meats, cheeses, fruits and vegetables, bread and other comestibles to self-cater in the apartment.
We loved Trogir and would stay at Villa Jidro again in a heartbeat. Unless you wanted a five-star hotel experience I don't think you could find a better place to stay in Trogir.

Situated within a few metres from the short bridge that takes you to the main tourist area of Trogir, this little gem of a hotel is perfectly situated for a few nights stay.
Although slightly unappealing from the outside, as it is situated over a supermarket, on entry up a flight of stairs we were pleasantly surprised.
The staff were very friendly and our room was clean and spacious. The only disappointment was that the room only had velux windows, so had no view.
We did not have a car, but found it quite easily, having caught a bus from Split airport.
You can also easily visit Split city by boat as the quay is situated right outside the hotel.
I would certainly recommend this hotel for a short stay, especially tied in with stays on some of the islands, like we did.

We arrived in this hotel the first day an we came back the last day cos we liked it. great value for money: nice position, close to the center of trogir and to airport, nice rooms with wifi. Also the breakfast was ok and the people were kind.
the only problem was that the room with seaview is too noisy

We stayed 2 nights in Villa Jidro and we fell in love with the old town of Trogir.

Our city trip to Split occured on a very short notice and all the "reasonably priced -close to the centre-good reviews and reputation" B&Bs in Split were already booked out.

Since we did not want to pay more or risk a stay at a place with not-so-great reviews, we decided to stay in Villa Jidro in Trogir instead – what a great decision! (I actually have to thank to a lady –unfortunately I don’t remember the nick anymore- who recommended to visit Trogir in her review of Split).

Villa Jidro is located just across the bridge from the old town the bridge (2 minutes) and there are some restaurants and also a convenience store nearby.
The villa is new (or possibly very well renovated) and everything is shiny and spotlessly clean. The owners were friendly and helpful, there is a free internet and we could print-out our boarding passes on their printer. Our room was ok, with a TV and a good-stuffed fridge (but there was no pricelist in the minibar). At the time of our stay the villa was not fully booked, so we did not come much into contact with other guests, but you could hear very good the conversations and the door-smashing from the corridor. It imagine it might become a problem when there are some inconsiderate guests in the building.
The breakfast - included in the price - was standard, but a good selection for a B&B.

The Split airport is situated between Split and Trogir (actually much closer to Trogir)
It takes about 10 minutes from the airport to Trogir with bus nr. 37 (operates 3x per hour between Split and Trogir), the ticket costs about 1,5 €. The same bus takes a small hour if you go from Trogir to Split – we were told that there were also regular faster connections buses, but we enjoyed to be on the bus with the locals as a part of our Croatian experience.
All in all, I actually enjoyed Trogir much more than Split and would recommend to anyone to stay in Villa Jidro.
