I have stayed at Hotel Eden for 5 years with the Maistra group and this year popped into Monte Mulini for lunch and one of Marcello's EXCELLENT mojitos. When we came to leave we were told by the senior gentleman in Reception that we could not depart from the way we had come in. He told us to go out of front door, down a lot of steps and onto public path back to Hotel Eden. His attitude was not what a customer would expect and we were very disappointed.
The staff at the sister hotel Eden are pleasant and friendly.

Had three nights here at the end of a week long trip to Istria (our first), we had already fallen in love with the area and will be visiting again and the Monte Mulini provided the perfect finish to a great holiday. Did not eat at the hotel or use the spa but it looked fantastic. Nice sunbeds and the prices although dearer than in the town were reasonable for a hotel of this quality. Great location to explore the town of Rovinj and nearby coastline by bike, but Istria is a fabulous compact little region anyway if you have a car. The rooms were large and luxurious, no real complaints at all which is rare for me!
Only negatives were that there were not enough bikes, we didn't manage to get one either day of our stay but hardly a problem to pay the small fee and hire one from one of the many places along the front. If being really picky our mini bar was missing a bottle of white wine which we did mention but it was not replaced, hardly an issue and I feel the hotel could benefit from a shuttle to the town, preferably a boat one which would be lovely at night but again not a concern to us as we are big walkers but it would possibly attract less able customers currently put off by the 20 minute walk to the centre. Oh and the bath took an age to fill but great shower!
The location is superb and if you fancy a real treat in a great hotel near a wonderful old town then go.

Located 10 minutes walking from Rovinj, in a wooded peninsula and with a garden facing a beautiful protected bay, this ultramodern hotel is the best in town.
All rooms face the ocean, are big and have an oversized compartimented bathroom with tub and shower cabin.
The room terraces are a pleasent relaxing option, the large pool very convenient and a wellness spa with sauna, etc makes the whole amenities 5 star.
Everything in perfect condition, with 2 very good restaurants plus a pool snack bar and a scenographic living and bar.
The access to a public pier into the sea crossing a pedestrian street adds the possibility of sea swimming although because of a lack of privacy there, very few opted out of the pool. A pity the builders did not connect the garden to a sea floating deck with a bridge over the small street !
Complimentary parking and WI FI throughout the whole hotel ( though of unstable signal strength ) makes the general experience here highly recomandable

This hotels offers everything you need for a perfect vacation, and it has exceeded many of our expectations. The view is beautiful, for all rooms, as the hotel is built directly into the hill (monte mulini) - so all of the rooms are bound to have sea view. The 4 pools are nicely located, the largest one offers a pool bar, these waiters were constantly on their way to serve guest's needs. Next to the pool there is a very spacious garden area, where one can relax with much less noise, or where there's enough room to run around and play with kids. Staff in all areas of the hotel is helpful, polite and professional. Rooms are comfortable, spacious, nicely equipped and very clean. We have never seen a similar place in Croatia.

OK - the disco from Santa Katerina is a bit noisy BUT it's not as though it's playing all night. And, yes a bit of extra drawer space would have been handy but they are hardly going to alter the beautifully designed rooms to provide it now. The rooms are very comfortable and well sound-proofed and as we were there on half board basis we can definitely vouch for the food quality both at dinner and breakfast.
But really all of that pales into insignificance compared with the friendliness and professional efficiency of the staff. Not only do they get on well with the guests but, even more importantly, they also gel with one another to form a really splendid team. The "esprit de corps" was palpable.
Unfortunately we were there in a heat wave and really flagged at times - even walking into Rovinj which is really pretty but really lacking in decent shops, was a real effort.
The local view is that the best month to go is September when the weather is still fine but slightly cooler and the sea is still warm.
A member of staff to pick out? Daniel in the Mediterranean Restaurant could not have been more friendly and helpful.
Yes, go!

Excellent 5 star hotel about 20 mins walk from the old Venetian town of Rovinj, only 10 mins to newer part. Set in quiet bay, and has link with neighbouring hotel for indoor pool if needed. Own massage facilties, and outdoor pool area, and bar/resaturant for lunchtime and snacks

2 excellent restaurants, one with option of being on balcony facing the sea. Also good lounge and bar area, part which is again outside with view of the sea/bay.

The old Venitian town is worth several visits with winding streets, and a headland with a cathedral. Many bars and restaurants in the old town by the cliff edge facing the main bay and an island. Likewise in the new part.

Trips inland and by boat - short and long - may be booked locally.

Service at the Monte Mulini is excellent in all respects. I could not fault it. Opened about 2 years ago.

Room Tip: All rooms face the sea
