Hotel Park
Ranked #10 of 23 Hotels in Rovinj
Reviewed September 18, 2009

A lovely comfortable, clean hotel with very good facilities. All the reception, bar and restaurant staff were very friendly, helpful and efficient.

Our room, although not massive, was lovely and comfortable and had everything we needed. We had a lovely view over the swimming pool and marina (photo attached). The standard of food in the restaurant was superb, especially as the Hotel Park is only 3 star. We found the food to be far better than many 4 star hotels we had stayed in and even one or two 5 stars!

The hotel is very peaceful although it only takes 5/10 minutes to walk along into the busy little town with restaurants and bars. I recommend Bar Havana for cocktails.

There are lots of lovely little streets to wander around with nice little bars and cafes tucked away in the back streets. Also out of the hotel away turning away from the town you can walk along by the sea for over an hour which is a very pleasant walk, especially if you stop for a dip in the sea. The paths are very flat and even on the whole so good for families, pushchairs and people with limited mobility.

The local transport is also very good. We caught the bus to Pula and Porec which was reasonably priced and a good service. We also booked a trip to Venice directly from Atlas (based in the clock tower in the town). This offered exactly the same as Thomsons but was half the price!

We stayed at the Hotel Park in Rovinj for the first two weeks in September '09, booking through Thomsons Holidays. Unfortunately, we were allocated an impossibly small double room and an only just-possible-to-use bathroom. There wasn't even space for a chair and getting round the bed had to be done sideways (honestly!!). Fortunately, after our complaining, the next day Reception was able to move us to a larger room. The biggest problem with the Hotel Park appears to be the bedrooms which vary greatly from quite acceptable to downright space-deficient. Could this be the reason why it is graded as a three star? In most other respects it would fully warrant and justify four stars.

Breakfast and dinner buffets were extremely good. For breakfast all the usual foods were available, including cooked options and plentiful fresh fruit. Excellent coffee and tea too. Dinner selection was huge and very well cooked and should satisfy most tastes.

With regard to cleanliness, the whole hotel, ie the bedrooms, communal areas and swimming pools, etc are kept spotlessly clean. The service is very good throughout the hotel. The dining experience is a pleasure with all the staff eager to please.

As for location, it is difficult to add to what others have already said. The Hotel Park is on the edge of town and the views in every direction are really as beautiful as photos indicate. The promenade and town are a delight to walk through, and very looked after with the locals very welcoming.

Niggles? Music from town on some nights carries across the bay and can continue 'til late. Cyclists, as is often the case, are far too numerous and inconsiderate for pedestrians' comfort.

To summarise, we found that the combination of the Hotel Park and Rovinj made for a delightful holiday and, incidentally, for 13 out of 14 days we had glorious weather.

My wife and I have just returned from a fortnight stay at Hotel Park. Most of the positives have been mentioned in previous reviews. We had a side room overlooking the gardens which was compact but had everything one needs for a short stay. I would not have been too happy if we had been given one of the rear rooms overlooking the bin area and car park but I think that they allocate these rooms last. An e-mail room request on booking might be a good idea. in my opinion, Hotel Park has the best location in the town. The views are outstanding and amazed us until the last day. Cycles can be hired adjacent to the hotel for£6.50/ 7 hrs and a coastal cycle route passes right by the door giving great access to the coastline and several bike routes around Rovinj. I would ignore the few negative reviews and suggest that the Hotel Park is good value for money and its rating. With reference to the comments I have read about sunbeds being reserved this is true but the attendant will always find you a bed and brolly, we often went out for our bike rides and managed to get beds on return.

I found this hotel on trip advisor and because of the good reviews i booked it for three nights with my partner. The price I paid was €220 per night which is quite pricey in Croatia and in these recessionary days.
When we arrived at reception all was looking good and the staff were friendly, but as we made our way to the room things started to take a turn for the worse. It was if we were on our way to a concrete jungle. Then the rooms were terribly basic and in need of refurbishment, one of the beds had collapsed and everything was past its sell buy date!
The only positive thing I could say was that the view was amazing and the location was super, but overpriced!!! Not worth the money and no sandy beaches! Nice pool in hotel

We have just returned from a two week stay at the Hotel Park. When we initially saw the view from the hotel across to Rovinj we were blown away - it is just simply breath-taking. We didn't have a full view of Rovinj from our balcony, our room was on the side of the hotel with view of the yacht marina and the sea. This was no problem as the view of Rovinj can be seen from the hotel balcony and the pool. Watching the sun-set on the hotel balcony is a must with a glass of vino. We only booked on a bed and breakfast basis as we wanted to enjoy the abundance of restaurants in Rovinj which is only a short stroll from the hotel. The breakfast at Hotel Park was ideal with plenty of choice. We certainly enjoyed sampling the food in Rovinj in the evenings. The fish was absolutely delicious. Valentinos must be visited to enjoy literally cocktails on the rocks watching the sun-set. There is so much to enjoy in Rovinj, we hired bicycles for the day and explored the national park to the left of the hotel with its hidden bays, top tip is to take beach shoes as it is quite rocky but the water is warm and crystal clear. The bus station is a few minutes walk and Pula with its roman amphitheatre and Porec with its 6th century church. There are loads of boat trips from Rovinj too. We took one to Lim Fjord and had a fish picnic onboard which we enjoyed. There is an option to visit Venice but we chose not to as we wanted to explore Istria. We have only touched on the surface of our holiday, we would certainly recommend Rovinj to anyone. Weather was just fantastic - wall to wall sunshine for 14 days with temperatures reaching 34 degrees. One thunderstrom at night though!

The resort of Rovinj is small but stunning and everywhere around is spectacular so there are plenty of trips to take, even went up to Lake Bled in Slovenia and that is equally beautiful. The Park hotel is (I understand) to be pulled down in the next couple of years or so to be replaced by a new hotel and, in truth, it is probably about time. There is nothing wrong with the hotel and it has the very best view of the town and the marina but the rooms are the smallest that I have ever stayed in and the charge for wifi was very high especially when there is a bar in the town giving it free :-) The food was good enough although a bit monotonous with very little variety except Wednesday night when they go to town with free glass of wine and wonderful seafood.

The animation team was small but friendly and very enthusiastic but they left you alone if you were not interested in their games. The bar staff at both bars were excellent and the reception staff were very efficient although they did make a 2% commission charge for changing currency so the bank was cheaper. The restaurant was pleasant, although I found some of the waiters a little aloof.

The entertainment in the hotel is minimal and that pleased me I hate to have music, etc drowning out any possibility of conversation but I know that many would be put off by this. Bar prices were about the same as at home but the beer is cheaper in town. Eating out was great and not too expensive. A decent sized pizza for one being around a fiver.

Croatia is now a no smoking indoors country and as a person who gave up not that long ago it was a relief and the hotel observed this although it is not particularly well observed in the smaller bars around the town.

It may only be a 3 star, but the staff are most helpful, hotel is in a great location, rooms are functional, air con in room is fine, 2 pools with kids pool away from main pool, if your not going half board the resturants that are within 5 minutes walk are great. The only draw back is there is NO beach, access to sea via rocky slopes.
