“Beware of hidden complex at rear of hotel.”
Reviewed November 26, 2011

Whilst I agree with most of the positive review comments relating to this hotel, it does, however, have a complex at the rear which comprises of approximately forty appartments with absolutely no sea view and poor quality two star rooms. The view from the balcony is akin to a tenament block of flats.
My wife and I were bitterly disappointed and somewhat shocked on arrival. My wife complained at the reception desk only to be told that it was 'budget accomodation'. My wife asked to change rooms and was prepared to pay a supplement but was told that the hotel was full. I would agree with numerous reviews that the reception staff are in need of a course in customer satisfaction as they showed little interest in our complaint.
The following day I complained to the rep. who gave me a complaint form which I duly completed. The rep. whilst pleasant and sympathetic, was reluctant to commit or comment on what we had been told at reception, but she did state that she had received over twenty complaints re. the complex. ( I booked this holiday on the internet a full eight months prior to travel and on the booking procedure I was led to believe that all rooms had a sea view. There was no mention of a suplement).
I took photographs of the complex and forwarded them to Thomson Customer Services Department with a claim for compensation for the lack of a sea view. I eventually had a response which was somewhat patronising and which failed to address the issues.
I agree that this hotel is situated in a wonderful location and the ferry from the island to Rovinj is in itself a lovely and peaceful journey with wonderful views. At night the island is lovely and serene and beautifully lit up. The square at Rovinj is a vibrant area in the evening and during our stay there was some form of wine festival and the entertainment was wonderful. It's such a pity that we had this badly located room and a sad endictment on the Customer Services Department with Thomson that they failed to recognise a genuine complaint and ensure some form of recompense for the disappointment that this caused.

Room Tip: Ensure that you have a room facing the pool area. Get an assurance that you have a sea view as you w...

Stayed there in spring for a relaxing weekend. Perfect location and realy good hotel.
Nice rooms, not all sea view and some a bit dislocated from central building. Romantic surroundings, beautiful nature, calm.
Food really good and various.
Professional staff.
Good SPA.

When we arrived, we were probably 2 of a total of 6 guests at the hotel. A large contingent had left that day. More guest arrived the next day. The hotel sits on an island (actually 2 islands) and a boat shuttles you to Rovinj. Rooms are comfortable - average european size - but the hotel grounds could do better. We had seagulls gathered outside our room attacking leftover trash/food. The hotel is sprawling so walking to your room can be a hike from the main facilties. The outdoor pools were cold. The breakfast was pretty good but the staff can be surly. What really takes away from a potentially great experience in a beautiful romantically located hotel is the staff. Check in was totally business like, no warmth or friendliness. The spa staff was rude and dismissive. The wait staff at the restaurant seem unhappy to be there. On the plus side - the running path around the island and adjoining island was very nice. Approaching the island by boat and approaching Rovinj Harbor by boat was cool.

When we saw Rovinj it was like a dream location to get to Hotel was a ferry ride only ten minutes Ferry was like a luxury boat . But the night ferry was a dream it was like THE AFRICAN QUEEN as like in the film. When we saw the hotel on a lovely island we was very impressed the only bad point was our view a tree and tennis court but i did not complain because i did not want to spend any time in my room which was very nice by the way because the island was fabulous the food in restaurant was the best i have had in any hotel in the world that i have been to also free drinks at meal times. The island had lots of trees and flowers also partridges roamed the island and were semi tame.At six o'clock in the evening most nights i saw dolphins swim past how cool is that. Also i felt very safe in town day or night Croatia people were very friendly. In Rovinj harbour we was lucky to see yacht racing which i love also we saw Croatia President he gave a cup to winning team by the way it was England. My day was breakfast then on ferry to rovinj to look a round back to hotel swim in sea it was great then dinner on ferry back to town for night what more could you want.Rovinj looks like Venice with out Venice prices FABULOUS.

Room Tip: We did not have good view but i am sure if you asked they would give you a better room staff are ver...

Been late writing up a review, but have to say this is one of the best hotels I have stayed in, it was outstanding!...

We went first to Venice then drove to Rovinj, caught the little boat which takes 10mins.
Once we booked in, we went to our room and had champaigne provided free of charge and had an incredible view of the sea.

Our 6 days spent here was great and we were incredilby sad to be leaving!

The service of the staff, the room and food were brilliant....I really cant fault anything.
The island is big enough not to get bored, with plenty of activities to do and just as good to chill out and bathe or swim or walk around the gardens.

Brilliant place you won't regret it!

Situated literally a 10 minute ferry ride from Rovinj with stunning views. Ferrys to and from Rovinj run every hour from 6am until 1am
Accommodation & service were excellent. Food was good, buffet style with complimentary beer, wine & soft drinks with meal. I also received a complimentary bottle of bubbly from the hotel management for my birthday, which was a lovely suprise. Although the hotel was very busy there were plenty of little places to get away from the crowds. Ideal for couples and quite romantic really, we especially loved walking around the islands early morning and evening. Saw some beautiful sunsets. We were lucky with the weather exceptionally hot for time of year (Mid September) only had one bad day. There is also a lovely restaurant the 'Lanterna' on the island, not too expensive, worth a least one visit during your stay.

Room Tip: Although many rooms have sea view, in our experience it is best to pre-book to guarantee, or request...

My wife and i stayed for a week from 27th September. Booked a sea view room, which to be fair we were allocated, but it was on the first floor over looking the cafe bar roof and sea beyond. I went to reception and asked if we could be moved to a higher room and was immediately given an alternative on the third floor which was lovely. Room was spacious and immaculate and remainded so throughout our stay. Food was very good with plenty of choice at breakfast and dinner. Unlimited wine and beer included with dinner and whilst the red wine wasn't up to much! the white wine and beer were fine. Great facilities included an indoor and outdoor pools, Gym and treatment rooms. Free ferry to and from the lovely town of Rovinj which runs on the hour and is proabably the only issue with the hotel as you had to clock watch a little if you needed to be somewhere by a certain time. Thomsons resort rep (Orluna) was first class and we booked a boat trip and excursion to Lake Bled in Slovenia through her, both of which were great. Would definately return in the future to a lovely peacful hotel where the sun shines daily (at leasy on our trip!) in a beautiful setting.

Room Tip: Sea view rooms are nice but unless you intend to stay in your room all day, I wouldn't pay a for...
