I have just returned from a week's holiday at the Eden Hotel. I read somewhere that it has been voted the best 4 star hotel in the Adriatic year on year and I can see why. The common parts of the hotel and rooms were very clean and the grounds were just stunning and extremely well maintained. Lots of well positioned comfy (and clean) sun beds to go round both around the pool area and in the grounds - so no need for early morning towel duty! A free towel service is available for use at the pool - always a bonus. The walk to Rovinj is quite flat and a scenic walk overlooking the bay with some lovely sunsets. However once you are in Rovinj there is a steep uphill walk to the church with uneven paving but definitely worth a visit. There are lots of bars and restaurants to chose from for lunch or if you want a change from the hotel in the evening. It is also possible to hire bikes at a reasonable cost and explore the woodlands and costal path from the hotel.
I had a room at the front of the hotel on the third floor. I did not find it noisy but I believe that the rooms at the front over the entrance to the hotel are noisy. The rooms at the back get the sun in the afternoon. The rooms are of a reasonable size and the power shower over the bath was amazingly powerful. However, the bath is very deep and so would not suitable for some. Air con didn't appear to work in the room, although this was not a problem for me but could be in the warmer weather.
If you are looking for lots of evening entertainment at the hotel, then the Eden Hotel is not for you as there was very little going on in the evenings. You can of course walk to Rovinj if you want something a little more lively - bot not too lively.
The buffet arrangement for breakfast and dinner was as expected for this type of hotel. There was a reasonable breakfast choice but quite samey but not such a good choice for dinner and the deserts were very disappointing. Mostly meat dishes with very little alternative for vegetarians. Probably a good idea to eat earlier rather than later as the food does not seem to be replenished and so the choice later on is limited. Very friendly waiters and staff (other than one very surly lady serving drinks from the main bar - a smile and pleasant attitude now and again would have been nice). Roving is a lovely destination - very unspoilt and very laid back. It was my first trip to Croatia and I was very pleasantly surprised.
