Amarin Studio and Apartments

Stayed in the 3* apartments whilst attending Unknown Festival. It was very much worth it as there were biblical storms several times over the week!
Everything you need is there - cooker, fridge, microwave, plates etc and staff were bang on it with any problems and very efficient.
Ideally placed for also looking round Rovinj - very beautiful place indeed, and enjoyed our stay immensely

This resort has been fully renovated and a whole new section of 300 apartments, three new pools and restaurants added last year. So most old reviews are out-of-date, this review is relevant for the new premium apartments.

We liked:
Brand new apartments
Modern furniture, dishwasher, flatscreen TVs
Great beds and linens
Super quiet and efficient air-conditioner
Friendly and fast check-in
Great pizza restaurant
Pool area with three seawater pools (all a little cold)
View over the bay to Rovinj from pebbly beach and rocky shoreline
Shuttle boat to town
Ample parking and quietness of resort
Payment for pool chaises (at least you can get one)

We did not like:
Lack of personality of resort and apartments (functional but cold)
Limited cleaning of apartment (not clear when and if somebody comes to clean)
Very limited kitchen utensils (one sharp knife and not much else)
No starter kit (no salt, no sponge, no dishwashing liquid)
Impersonal interior design with zero decorative elements
Dark, sad, too small terrace (only in 6 people apartment)

Tips:
Get an outside facing apartment
The further you go on the rocky beach the quieter it gets
There is a supermarket on the resort behind the camping area
Do not buy fruit or grapes in Rovinj at the outdoor market - it is scam

Stayed at the resort Amarin for one week from 17th Aug.
Overall impressions is that this is not a 4 star resort as advertised, much more like an average 3 star. Quite pricey for what we got.
Good things. Near the beach, 2 swimming pools, mini club. Bad things room was ok but nothing to do with the pictures advertised, (much smaller) Finishes were not great. Door handle on toilet broken, Sink tap loose, signs of previous damp in the room, poor TV picture. Reported these problems and someone did come to have a look, but nothing was done.
The restaurant is modern in appearance but the food served is very average and not value for money. Go downstairs for a pizza or alternatively head to Rovinj town where there is much better choice of quality or decent affordable food.
My advise would be to try and rent your own apartment or if you can afford, pay a bit more and get a proper 4 star service.

Room Tip: If you want rooms advertised on webpage be sure to ask for the RENOVATED rooms done in 2013 as you m...

NEW Amarin apartments are well equipped-besides room(s), bathroom- there is a kitchen, A/C (since neighborhood resorts are.....well...). For the resort place, their restaurant offers good food. The staff is very friendly and helpful.

Room Tip: definitely ask for NEW Amarin apartments

The place is in the northern Adriatic sea , in Croatia.

Very beautiful place for vacation, for everybody ,very good for kids/family.
They have animation program every day.
The staff are very friendly and they have many events all the time.
Food is very good and best served.

I found it's overall a nice place for people of any age and i hope this review will help to found a nice place to stay and have a nice time.

I was lucky enough to stay in one of the renovated apartments, so I can't complain much. The rooms were cozy, with a really nice terrace. Our biggest problem were the ants, which appeared out of nowhere during the night. There didn't seem to be any room service whatsoever. There is also no free Wi-Fi and the prices for using the Internet at the reception were ridiculously high. The beach is amazing, though, and the sunset is breathtaking.

We did not use the bungalows etc, as we had our own touring caravan.

Barrier at entrance where you have to show a pass to ensure security and we did see security men walking around the site so felt very secure.

Large reception where you book in and very helpful informational desk where the lady spoke excellent English and gave advice on best places to visit. There is also a a bureau exchange to changing money into Kunas. We found everything much cheaper than using euros in other countries.

Pitches varied in size, but ours was a good 100m squared, lots had shade by the beautiful olive trees. Some pitches were not divided by anything, but some were by hedges, bay leave bushes or rosemary bushes - giving the site a really authentic feel.

There were 13 toilet blocks, which were quite small. 6 toilets and 4 showers, divided into men and women and 8 sinks for either clothes washing or dishwashing - these did get very busy but were frequently cleaned during the day.

On the sea front, the sea was beautiful, the only problem was the rocks which were everywhere (you need to wear swimming shoes), but once you got deeper it was fine. Lots of fish to look at when snorkelling.

There was a pool with water slide - this was all sea water and was drained every night and refill during the morning. 5pm was aqua exercise, which (and I have done lots in different campsites), was the best I have tried, very enthusiastic instructor!

Trampolines and playground for children's, plus mini club and a club for teenagers. Tennis courts and table tennis.

Evening entertainment, varied from live music to Mr & Mrs Amarin - and yes they did do the bikini round (which just showed how the country differs to the rest of Europe).

The site provide a taxi boat to Rovinj direct from the campsites beach, cost 20 kuna per person, each way, which was about £2.50 each.

Site shop was pretty useless, mainly sweets and silly toys, but there was Lidl around 2km away. Souvenir shop also available.

Wifi and computers were available near reception.

We booked in December 2009 for a stay in August 2010 and even then were a good 10 rows back from the sea. There were pitches available during our stay but possibly only short-term, if you were looking for longer I would recommend booking well in advance.

On the whole, a lovely site. Just a note on the weather, was around 30 degrees during the day, but cooled down lovely in the evening so was not uncomfortable to sleep but on a major plus site no mosquitos!
