Porec Old Town is very picturesque and steeped in history with many beautiful buildings, ancient ruins, quaint narrow cobbled streets, shops selling arts, crafts and jewellery and numerous restaurants, cafes and ice cream parlours. Porec was formerly part of the Republic of Venice.

We had a leisurely stroll around the Old Town where there are plenty of bars and restaurants. Everywhere was very clean although some of the cobbled streets were a bit slippery underfoot in some places due to the polished stones.

The market on the sea front sells plenty of gifts and souvenirs but I have to say there were also a few tacky items on sale.

The Old Town is definitely worth a visit and there are many tours setting out from Porec every day, either by coach or by boat.

We travelled from Hotel Parentium to Porec using an electric train which runs through several of the resorts. Nice harbour, selection of stalls selling tourist stuff, lavender, military paraphernalia, ice cream. Boat trips advertise right along this part of the harbour. Stopped for lunch (pizza place, was ok). Bored pretty quickly, there's not a great deal to see or do except people watching over a coffee. Further in, lots of shops on cobbled streets, standard ice cream / clothing / sweets shops.

We went back one evening. Whilst it was busier, much prettier at night, more buzz, there was a funfair - still rather meh for me. Whilst Porec was a pleasant wee place, I wouldn't hurry back.

Nice day out. Very quaint and lots of shops and restaurants. Narrow lanes and medieval squares. Hidden gems to explore. Worth half a day.
