Narrow streets, old stone houses, perfect for getting lost. I've been coming to Poreč for at least 10 years now and I always end up discovering something new.

A not to miss site...The tour through the church complex is now well-marked with arrow indicators for the route and didactic/educational panels throughout. Be certain to turn around and look up in the courtyard/atrium before entering the Baptistry proper in order to see the reconstucted mosaics on high. The best views of the apse of the church are from the far end. The concentrate on the group of four figures to the left and enjoy the multic-olored clouds from which the hand of God extends a crown to the Virgin Mary, appreciate the floral forms sprouting from the ground between the figures, and try to catch a glimpse of "cast shadows"on the green "lawn" beneath some of the feet of the figures.

Very compact. Old buildings. Some great shops. Just wander round and soak up the atmosphere. Porec isn't commercial. I don't what the locals say but compared to other seaside spots around the world Porec is thoroughly unspoiled.

Bars and restaurants. Eat and drink. Relax. People-watch and THEN take a water-taxi back to your hotel. Pretend you've got your own speedboat. I do. Been to Porec three consecutive years. I love it.

A lovely walk from the hotel along the sea front brings you into Porec-there are bars along the promenade and lots of activities for children
