“Great family holiday- thanks to the animation team!”
Reviewed July 7, 2011

Have just returned from a 2 week fabulous holiday at the Mediteran.
The Animation (entertainment) team and the location make this hotel superb.
There is lots to do (if you want to!) both for adults and children. The pools are salt water and a bit chilly so we used the pools at Bellevue apartments just up the hill, not salt water and warmer. The location is beautiful, nice walk into Porec with lots of restaurants, play parks, crazy golf, trampolines and waterslides on the way.
Both the room and bathroom were of adequate size and looked to have been modernised. The room was directly above the entertainments stage so noisy at night (sometimes until 12 am) but we still managed to get to sleep!
Excellent choice of food and drink in the hotel. Hotel very clean. Very good 3 star.

Room Tip: Get a room with a balcony but away from the entertainment/ Havana Bar side

We stayed at the Hotel Mediteran 3-17 June 2011 and had a wonderful holiday. The hotel was extremely clean and very friendly efficient staff. The food was delicious and the free drinks at mealtimes were a real bonus. Fantastic location so close to the crystal-clear sea and a nice distance to walk into Porec which took about 15 minutes. We engaged with the Animation programme lead by Eva & Marco which was great fun and enhanced our holiday enjoyment with their enthusiasm and friendliness. The pool was lovely. We really could not fault the hotel at all.

Room Tip: We had a balcony view at the front of the hotel which was fine & quiet. Many rooms appeared to h...

We stayed here at the end of June, while you can not fault the hotel, food lovely and very clean we found there was no heart or soul to the hotel. Nobody seemed to meet for a drink before the eveinng meal. Many a time we were the only ones in the bar. Also the pool never looked very inviting very small for a big hotel. However we loved Porec and went to Venice for the day (Highly recomended) All in all we would return but not to this hotel.

Dear guest,
Thank you for your kind feedback on Tripadvisor! We are glad that you liked the meal served and that you found the hotel clean and tidy. We are sorry that you found the hotel a little bit too quiet. When you stayed in the hotel, in June 2011, the hotel had recently reopened its doors, that is the only reason why it seemed to you a little quiet.
We assure you that if you would have come just a week later, you would have probably complained for the quantity of people having fun! We hope to have the chance to welcome you again in Laguna Mediteran!
Best regards,

Enjoyed a week at the Mediteran which is a light and airy hotel, spotlessly clean, with friendly staff and in a great location, just a 20 minute walk along the tree lined coastal path into Porec. The food is fresh and plentiful, served buffet style with lots of choice, especially if you are into healthy eating. Beer and wine are included with your meal which is very good.

Room Tip: Book a room with a sea view, it's well worth it as you get to see the sunsets.

Our tip - just relax and enjoy this fab hotel in this beautiful country. Everything is spotless throughout the resort and beyond. The food was great, as was the complimentary wine - only downside is we all put on weight because we enjoyed it so much. Can't wait to return to Croatia for our seventh visit - one of the best countries in the world.

Room Tip: If you want more privacy, request a balcony

We had a great holiday at the Mediteran, it has had a makeover with lots of floor to ceiling glass in the public areas which make it look modern although it was built in the 70's. Food - there was a good choice and the staff were great. The Mediteran is situated in a very good position, close to the sea with a lovely easy walk to Porec or in the opposite direction all round the coast to Laguna Zelena where there are more hotels. Also you can use the train or the ferry which calls in at each of the bays and is very reasonable. You need to pay extra for sea view but it is well worth it as the back of the hotel has fixed shutters on the windows so you cannot see much. Hopefully they will remove them and update as this was the only complaint we heard. The flight is only 1hr 50mins..Pat and Michael - Brighton.

Myself and my partner stayed at this hotel for one week from the 17th June till the 24th June. Our first impression of the hotel on arrival was that it was clean, tidy and modern. Our room overlooked the swimming pool and we had a lovely sea view; if you have a room the opposite side you over look the car park so I would recommend a room with a sea view as that was lovely to wake up to. The room is small compared to other hotels I have stayed in but it had everything you needed; the only thing it could do with is some drawers; the bathroom was nice with a big shower. The breakfast was lovely and at anytime we went there was always food and it was never cold; the pastries are very good and there is an egg and toastie station. There were not many British in the hotel, mostly German so there is not a queuing system you just go and help yourself but we experienced no problems with this. The dinner was standard hotel buffet fair, but we always found something to eat there and had no complaints. For a bit of variety we did eat out in Porec on a couple of occasions, a restaurant we enjoyed and recommend is Ferala Konoba; an Istrian restaurant and the food was lovely and good value. This restaurant is easy to find on the road overlooking the marina a few doors down from the Saint and Sinner (you can't miss it!) next to La Ciccollata bar. We went into to Porec most nights and walked; it is very safe walking home which we did a number of times around midnight. There is the noddy train but it was usually full and the last one is at 10pm, the walk though is lovely, with the coast on one side and a pine tree forest on the other and takes about 20 minutes.

We did two trips, the fish picnic which stopped at Rovinji and Vrsar and we did the day trip to Venice. The boat trip was lovely and worth doing; we did it with Marco Polo instead of Thomas Cook and we were glad we did as the Thomas Cook boat was packed. It cost roughly 22 pounds per person (also cheaper than through Thomas Cook) and was a lovely day out on the sea. Venice was worth doing but it is a long day and you need very comfortable shoes as there is a lot of walking as you would expect. The staff on the boat to Venice do the hard sell and we were advised by our rep to not book anything and ignore their scare stories. From where the boat stops you can walk to St Marks square and don't need to pay for a water taxi; if you want to do this we were advised by our rep to use the water bus as it costs a lot less and you can see more.

There is no sandy beach in Porec but there are flat rock beaches that you can hire a sunbed on (25kn for the day, which is around 3 pound) and there is easy access to the sea. You can also walk round and park yourself anywhere; there is shade as there are pine tress everywhere and the whole area had a lovely relaxed feel to it.

The hotel evening entertainment is.....interesting and typical, not really our kind of thing but others seemed to enjoy it. We only stayed to watch the Gala evening entertainment which was fun but the other nights we walked into Porec or went to the hotels Havana bar. The weather was hot; between 25 and 30 degrees most days.

The flight there and back was lovely; the best flight we have ever had. Check in was very quick and the airplane was only half full. There was a complimentary meal on board with free drinks including wine and beer; this was with Croatian Airlines. We were out of Pula airport and on the transfer to the hotel within 15 minutes, and the transfer took around 45 mins.

Overall we would definitely return to this hotel and Porec as well as other parts of Croatia as it is such a relaxed holiday with friendly people, good food and good wine. Porec is a lovely town and spending a day exploring it's narrow alleys and streets is a good way to discover its true charm.

Room Tip: Upgrade to a sea view room
