This is well worth a visit, the food is nice, the people friendly. Not the best we have been to but very good.

We visited this restaurant a couple of days ago, again. We brought friends who haven't visited it before, and they liked it very much.

We were there for lunch, a group of 7 (two families), and they were happy to combine tables for us.
Manestra (thick Istrian bean soup), prosciutto and pecorino cheese, all with home-made bread for starters.
Two types of pasta: fuzi with Istrian beef and pljukanci with mushrooms.
Main course: ombolo with sauerkraut.
One person ordered grilled squid, and mixed salad on the side.
Wine: red wine Teran.
I'm listing all our orders because everything was excellent and to be recommended.
As usual, they offered home-made sweets (something with walnut and apple) and local grappa.
The price was very convenient (100 € total).

The service could be a bit "warmer" , and the space inside by the fireplace is a bit small (I think they have another indoors eating area, but it was closed this time), but all in all - everything fine and to be recommended.

We are quite frequent guests to "Daniela" in village Veleniki near Porec, and our experience has always been very good, borderline on excellent.

Our last visit was in July, and it was packed with tourists! We were there for dinner, sitting in the garden with our daughter, and there was a lot of tiny flies crawling all over the table, which spooked out our little girl a bit. Nothing to do, however - when you're eating outdoors and at such hour, those kind of things are bound to happen!

Back to the food: the mussells ala buzara where delicious as ever, as well the tartar steak prepared by Daniela's father. Gnocchi with beaf sauce and seafood rice were average and not really worth it. If you're going to eat there, it's best to stick to mussels and fish, I believe.
Oh, and once, on our December visit, we had pljukanci (fresh type of local pasta) with prosciutto and wild mushrooms, which was very nice.
Wine Teran on their offer is excellent, too.
They offer local sweets (apple pastry) and local grappa on the house, which is a nice way to see customers off and have them return in the future. However, you're probably so full - as portions are quite generous - by then!

The service is excellent from Daniela and her father, but other staff is still learning to deal with rush hours and mixed up our order twice (first forgot about our second course order, then brought more orders than actually asked).

So: if you want an excelellent dinner, avoid August (when it's overcrowded with tourists), stick to seafood and fish, and choose a table on the covered terrace or inside :)
