One of our all time favourite destinations . These lakes are just amazing ,the water is pristine clear & the most magnificent colours .If you are thinking of visiting these lakes make sure you put it in your itinery .The walks are quite well organised ,& are a fair distance to walk ,some are up hills ,I had a torn calf muscle but was still able to walk ,people had wheelchairs & prams ,I think they may have found it a bit tricky in some places are there are some steps .

“Breathtaking!”
Reviewed June 18, 2013

Before we left I read a travel blog that said "if you dont go to Plitvice, you have ruined your trip without even knowing it". After our visit I can say that is absolutely true. We spent about 4 hours at the park and was only able to see the lower third of the park, but it was incredible. Every corner is another breathtaking view of some of the most amazing scenery I have ever seen. This beautiful park is not to be missed!

“Nature overdid in beauty along the formation of the Plitvice Lakes!”
Reviewed June 17, 2013

The beech and pinus forests, with their amazing greenish variations, and the incredible view of several waterfalls and pools are among the most beautiful sites we've ever seen! Bring a camera and comfortable sneakers or boots and enjoy the many trails along the lakes, preferably avoiding the high season (July-August) due to the high number of visitors during this period.

“Very nice park”
Reviewed June 17, 2013

I went to visit the lakes in June 2013 with my girlfriend.
We entered the park at 7.50 AM, almost none in the parking, empty the wooden paths with nice light for pictures and no people ruining the pictures. We started going to the big waterfall, in the morning the sun was great with no shade on the walls. We walked up towards superior lakes with still very few people and then we decided to walk beside the big lake rather than taking the boat, a normal walk actually, nothing special. Once reached the upper lakes we started to see more people, around 10 but still not too many. The color of the lakes was impressive, the effect of the trees fell into the lake was great too and the waterfalls are very nice even if a bit smaller than I expected. After a long walk until the highest lake and back to the "port" we crossed the large lake by boat and then we walked back to entrance 1 again through path K which goes up on the cliff and gives some amazing viewpoints. On the way back to the entrance we also decided to enter a closed path where a landslide broke down the path but the view from the lowest wooden path was just great...even if a bit dangerous, I hope they will fix it soon.

“Fantastic Place, but a little out of the way”
Reviewed June 17, 2013

Most Americans do not know about this magnificent place. We drove there via Austria and Slovenia on a 2 week car trip and it was well worth it! Many hundreds of waterfalls and lakes make it a tropical paradise, but cooler. You can hike the whole park in one day if you start early and you are in good shape. We got there at noon so we did the park in 2 half day trips. The lower lakes and falls(parking lot 1) is by far the prettiest with the high waterfall there. We took a boat from parking lot 2 and changed boats to get there, since we were staying at a hotel (Bellevue, just o.k. but convenient with free parking) in the park it was an easy walk to the boat. The afternoon trip, we took the tram and it was an easy 2 hour hike for us but not as spectacular, but still beautiful. Beware, the stairs up from the boat are about 350, so you are not done from that hike. There is not much outside of the park and few restaurants. It is best to stay in one of the 3 hotels in the park and they will validate your ticket (110 K about $20.00 each day for two days saving some money ). It was a 90 minute drive from Zagreb.
