Plitvice Hotel
Reviewed December 17, 2012

This hotel is definitely old and outdated (I think the blanket on my bed may have been older than I am). However, it is in an ideal location for exploring Plitvice Lakes, and if you’re going to spend one night here, it’s ok. By default, this hotel is your best bet; it is nicer than most of the park’s other hotels and the most reasonable price for what you are getting.
Location: The hotel’s location is why you stay here. Other than the park hotels, there aren’t hotel options close to the park. We walked right down to the lake and the park’s bus stopped right in that area, as well. There may be some B&B’s out a distance, but nothing is as close, and at least the hotel had a restaurant for meals because there isn’t much else in the area other than the park restaurants.
Overall: The hotel was so-so. Everything in the place reminded me of the 1970s from the color scheme to the light fixtures to the dining staff in their uniforms trying to make the place feel formal when it most definitely was not. The common areas weren’t too bad, but the dining room area and the rooms were like a step back in time. The A/C in our room didn’t do very much and it was relatively warm, but I didn’t open any windows because I was afraid of mosquitoes. The half board we paid for with our room (included dinner) was worth it just to not have to go out and find something to eat. However, even if you booked without it, breakfast was included, and I found out later that they had an ala carte menu that anyone could order off of which seemed to have a lot more variety than the 3 options we were given with the fixed menu for half-board. So you might be better off just not getting it and eating off of that menu (it will probably cost more, but provide more variety). The food we had wasn’t all that wonderful, but it was edible. Breakfast didn’t have a huge variety, but there was enough there to fill up on for a day of hiking (oatmeal and cereal and some hot items), tea, coffee, etc.
Hotel Staff: The staff were friendly enough. The front desk helped us with getting our pass stamped so that it was good for multiple days instead of one (if you are staying in the park your pass will work on the days you are staying as opposed to only one day). They also assisted us with any questions we had about the exchange rate or check-out.
Room: Our room was so-so. I booked an economy double. The good: The bathroom and room itself were both rather large. In fact, we had an extra ½ bath, as well. We had a little balcony that we could go out on if we chose to (nothing too exciting). We had a little area we could sit and watch the tiny TV if we wanted to. The not so good: The bedspread looked VERY old. We didn’t even use it. The mattress had also probably seen better days. The room seemed clean, but definitely old. The carpet, the lamps, the tv, everything felt very outdated. It was fine for one night, but I wouldn’t want to spend an entire vacation in this place.

We stayed here just becoz it was very near to the park..decent room and average amenities..no fancy frills..food was good but found it a little expensive..but the beauty of the national park compensates for all this by its natural fancy frills! amazing place :)

Plitvice Hotel is one of 3 hotels located inside the actual National Park, so it's super convenient for those wanting to stay at the national park for longer than a day. We stayed for 3 nights at Plitvice Hotel and we don't have any complaints.
The hotel is centrally located, the room and bathroom was clean, beds were comfortable enough and we had a nice view from our room. The lobby of the hotel is nice and big and there is a terrace where one can enjoy the sunsets. The hotel also offers a continental breakfast that is included in the price of 90 euros/night (summer). The breakfast was fairly good with lots of choices. We ate at the hotel restaurant the night we arrived as there was nothing else around, and the food was just ok - nothing to write home about. There is only one other restaurant in the park that was walking distance - Poljana Restaurant and we ate there 2 nights - the food was marginally better than at Plitvice plus it had an outside terrace.
You can't get wi-fi in your room, only in the lobby, plus there is a communal computer in the lobby. The hotel was built in the 60s and not much of the the communist-inspired decor has changed, it gives it some charm I guess...so if you're not picky and don't care about things like these, this hotel is perfect as it's located just a 2 min walk from the Entrance 1 to the Park.
Also, with a stay at this hotel, one can get the 2nd day pass to the park for free (all you need to do is get your ticket validated at reception)
Overall, I would recommend Plitvice Hotel.

The room was ok and the food was average at best but where else are you going to stay if you are hiking the next day? Probably not very many options in the area. Clean, beds are decent. Go for it and get ready for amazing sights in the park. Now I need to add more or system says I can't post, so...............................................?.......................................................................... ....................................... .......

Stayed here one night while enjoying the spectacular national park. The room and bed were comfortable. The staff were not particularly friendly. Breakfast was good with a varied spread. Dinner at the hotel was nothing special

Stayed here for one night while visting the national park. We chose to pay a little more and get a "suite" which was really a huge room with a balcony. We enjoyed the balcony at the end of the day when we returned from the park. The room was clean, the bed was comfortable. As others have said the rooms are somewhat dated. I thought the public areas which much nicer, the lobby has a wall of glass and a nice outside area. Please know that there is no elevator and the rooms are on the second floor so it is a bit of a climb.

We ate dinner and it was adequate--not gourmet, but far from terrible. Staff were fine. For us, the convenience of being able to walk to the park entrance made this hotel an excellent choice..
