We arrived a little early and their lovely daughter Diana got us situated with the place.
It is an entire upper flat. Another place with balcony, coffee maker, comfy bed and in a quiet neighborhood. Parking was across the street. Also a washing machine and handy clothes line on a small side balcony. Our welcome present here was a wonderful bowl of fruit that lasted the entire stay (some from their own garden).
We were invited to have an aperitif (some terrific homemade grappa) downstairs with them in their flat. Lots of smart conversation. We asked if the family would like to join us for dinner so he called and changed the reservations. We had a lovely dinner with the family-they took care of the ordering and we had “family style” at the restaurant. In return they had us for dinner in their home a few nights before our holiday ended to enjoy a “typical” Istrian supper-topped off by a delicious dessert, with plenty of great wine and more interesting conversation. Connecting with people is why we travel. I would say this was truly the highlight of our trip. We loved visiting with the Matić family.

This apartment is amazing. It is more of a house than an apartment – three bedrooms, a lovely dining room a huge living room a full bathroom and a well equipped kitchen. Our hosts lived in the house below the apartment and were always available and helpful to answer questions about Croatia in general and the area in particular. We found out about some local places of interest from our hosts that aren’t in the guide books for Pazin – they should be! We stayed there for 10 days and toured the province (Istra) in our rented vehicle – you need a car if you stay in Pazin.
