This Red Fićo is a memorial of Croats fighting back when Jugoslav National Army stared with occupation in 1990's.
But there is much more to see in this beautiful town. Go for it!

This is a very cool site. Reminds you of the devastation that took place in 1991. You have to know what happened to understand what this means. I would go on YouTube and search Osijek Red Fiat. Worth seeing.

This is a very poignant reminder of bravery against aggression and depicts a little Fiat 500 crushing a tank at the spot where the Fiat defiantly stood in front of a tank during the recent troubles in the former Yugoslav area.

the crossing of Vukovar and Trpimirova is a place you have to see in Osijek because that tank of the JNA was mercilessly overwhelmed by the red "fiq" which forever remained the symbol of a great force trying to defeat the weaker and the more powerless.

An everyday symbol to remember the events of the past - the oppression and the resistance. Good to see.

A little out of the way on a bit of a nothing intersection, I wouldn't really say it's a disappointment, but it's quite close to it. The sentiment it expresses - the oppressed weak taking on the oppressive strong - is laudable, however.

It looks interesting, like a modern sculpture, but the real meaning is a story of the beginning of the 1990-ies war in Osijek. That's what makes it interesting. Most of us from Osijek are emotionally attached to Red Fico.

Our tour guide pointed this out to us. Originally the owner parked his Hugo in front of a tank to stop it! Naturally the tank squashed the car. The Monument was set up as a triumph for the spirit, with the Hugo running over the tank.

What a way to make a statement and memorial. Turning the story on it's head with a great sense of humor. Well done!
Take a tragedy and then making everyone laugh.
