We stayed here on a dinner, bed and breakfast basis which we would not do again. There is a huge choice of restaurants within easy walking distance. The dinner was cafeteria style which begins to all look the same after a few days. The hotel was very suitable for my lightweight mobility scooter with a lift to access all areas except the outdoor swimming pool. That pool had its disability access through the restaurant...not really easy. The access to the indoor pool was fine though. The beach and promenade were very close and this also made for easy use. Makarska is a great spot to visit but would be very busy during July and August.

We slept in this hotel on the way to Dubrovnik. The food is very good and tasty. Prices could be a little lower and bedding should be replaced. The staff is very friendly, especially at the bar. People really know how to sell their products. The atmosphere in the city is great, really good fun. Be sure we will stop on the way back.

We returned on 12th June after 10 nights at the Meteor. To be honest we could not really fault the hotel in terms of comfort and cleanliness. We had a room overlooking the beach on the 5th floor which gave us a really lovely view. Initially due to being so close to the lift we asked to move but the view from the alternative room was aross the road and hotel next door which was a building site. We decided to try and cope with the noise of the lift and after 2 nights I can honestly say It didnt bother us again.
The staff were helpful and friendly and everywhere was kept very clean. Makarska is a lovely place with stunning views and plenty of good resturants to choose from. We stayed at the hotel on a bed and breakfast basis and I am really glad we did. We ate at a different resturant every night and had some lovely meals sitting right by the sea. I heard a few grumbles from other guests staying at the hotel on a full board basis that if you were not down for your evening meal before 7pm then it was a bit of a scramble with less choice.
I would definitely go back to Makarska and the Hotel Meteor. I would recomend it for rest and relaxation. (not sure what it is like in July and August though) The weather was not great but we used the spa and gym and went on plenty of trips. I would recommend Omis and also Jelsa on Hvar. Croatia is such a beautiful country so it is well worth going off exploring. We used the local buses and also hired mountain bikes.
On the last day we had a late flight and had to check out at 11am. We were told we could shower and change in the hotel spa and towels were provided which was a real help.
Overall very happy with this hotel and holiday.

Room Tip: Ask for seaview if possible away from the lift!!

My partner and I stayed at this hotel with a bridge group on a fully inclusive package over Easter. We had a good deal and the hotel excellent with very friendly and ever attentive staff and in an ideal location right next to the sea with mountains in the background. The weather was not kind to us, being below average temperature and more rain than we deserved, but nevertheless we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We visited the waterfalls near Split which were amazing - even our tour guide said he had never seen them so fast and the rivers so full - well worth a visit if you are in the area. Split is an interesting town too. From the hotel we walked along the coast in both directions and we understand from others that there are beautiful walks towards the mountains do-able from the hotel.

I imagine the scene would be very different in the Summer; definitely more people around and probably more entertainment on offer. However, the hotel has everything we wanted including a casino, very good indoor swimming pool with jacuzzi and whirlpool and plenty of leisure areas for sitting both out and inside. Our room was adequate, clean and with a balcony from where we could see both sea and mountains.

Superb position close to the sea with wonderful views of the surrounding mountains. An easy stroll into town but also some excellent picturesque walks for the more energetic. Went just after Easter so fairly quiet but plenty of activity by locals getting ready for the spring/summer months. I should imaging it will get very busy. Staff were very friendly with nothing being too much trouble. The food (all buffet style) was very good with a good selection always available. The swimming pool is huge with 2 whirlpool baths to the side. It has a gym, sauna and very good massage section. The hotel also has a Casino which stays open till the early hours but being on the lowest floor no noise was heard. My only short term problem was having only one pillow with no spares anywhere in the room. If you are considering visiting ask for the West Wing side view from which you can see the mountains and the sea. The East Wing currently has some building work nearby.

We arrived at the Meteor Hotel on 23rd March 2013. The staff on reception were very efficient throughout our stay, any request being dealt with immediately. Our room was adequate and on the 5th floor had good views of the coast and mountains. We stayed on a fully-inclusive package and on the whole the food was good but not always as hot as it could have been. The hotel was comfortably warm which was important in view of the coolish weather. The situation of the hotel was good being close to the beach and just a short stroll into Makarska itself. The resort itself was very quiet leading up to the Easter weekend but then became busier over Easter itself and as the weather improved. The refreshments on offer - as part of the inclusive package - could have included a wider choice of drinks. The representative of the tour company through which the holiday was booked was excellent. There was building work going on close to the hotel and the noise was intrusive during the day if you wished to use your balcony.

Room Tip: Rooms on the higher floors enjoy the best views.

In February I went to the Meteor Hotel for thee weeks with Saga. February is not the in season for Croatia, but I don't think I would like to be there in season, as it could be very crowded.

On arrival we were met with smiling faces and a glass of bubbly. We were the only eight people in the hotel, but they put on a full buffet, which was very nice. The food was good throughout the holiday, nothing special, but good. The catering staff were, usually, very good. There was one day when I served new arrivals with water and wine as no staff were around, but a word with the boss lady made sure that did not happen again.

The bar staff were not so friendly, and we often had to wait before someone turned up to serve us. The reception staff were very friendly and helpful.

The room was nice, but the matteress was not comfortable. I had to put the duvet on top of the matteress to get a good nights sleep. The cleaners were very good and did everything they could, except replacing the matteress, to make sure our stay was comfortable.

The swimming pool is olympic size and very clean. There is a steam room, gym, and baths.

The location is great. A level walk into town, and lots of walks around the coast. I hope joining the EU does not stop the way people lead their lives in the town.

I am returning to the Meteor in October and again in February, and recommend both the hotel and Saga. However, I hope it does not get too busy while I am there.

The location is perfect. Flat walking into town, and lots of other walks around the coast. The mountains had snow on them, and I sunbathed in shorts.

Room Tip: If you want lots of entertainment, this hotel is not for you.
