“relax sunbathe and pose on croatias islands”
Reviewed October 21, 2008

A great island to visit very laid back and has a wonderfull feeling about the place,we felt a million miles away from england .The harbour where you arrive has many very smart boats and a posh aura about it ,luxurious bars with great freindly service ,the type of places were you end u p sipping cocktails and people watching for hours. This is infact the main pastime as there is little else to do i n the evenings well ok and eat ofcourse. Now eating ...many meals cost us £70 plus (one bottle of wine ,starter and main)in general they were not chaep.Saying this you could get a piza each and drink for about £30.The small islands only 10 to 30 mins away create a great day out ,still rocky beaches but with turquoise water which is unbelievably clear .We stayed at anas place ( Ana Dujmovic) which was clean and spacous and reasonable for the price .Many people raged about this place but what can i say ....its what id expect for £45 a night in a private apartment block.Ana and her husband Tony are very friendly and make great hosts, its only ten min walk to town but a tiring very hilly walk a taxi cost us £14 FROM THE BOAT ON ARRIVAL.My wife and i enjoyd our stay of 7 days though when the weather turned bad i was bored out of my mind theres near zero entertainment ,but thats just me i can only do so much chilling.

“My favorite place for tennis holiday”
Reviewed December 4, 2007

reviewer: Tennis Coach, Prague, Czech rep.

I am planning tennis holiday for my clients for summer 2008. We will travel again to beautiful island at Croatia with JayWay travel as last summer. The small town with same name as whole island is very charming and you find there beaches with clean water, many good restaurant and cafes and in the night several hot music clubs. Red clay tennis courts in forest just behind the town were very quiet and well maintened. Thanks to JayWaytravel who choosed the destination for us (group of 6 tennis enthusiast) we had very nice week. Thanks to JayWay t.

“Getting to and around Hvar”
Reviewed September 18, 2007

Hvar is a lovely island, but be forewarned about two things:
1)Most guide books talk about Hvar being a lavender-covered island. That may be true at some times of year, but in September the only lavender I saw growing was in a pot on a window sill.
2) Most shops are closed on Sunday.

Don't make the same mistake we did in getting to Hvar. We decided to take the ferry from Drevenik because it's only a 25-minute ride to the western end of the island, where we were told it would take 45 minutes to drive to Hvar Town. (As opposed to taking a two-hour ferry trip from Split, which is further north than Drevenik). Boy was that a mistake! It took one hour and forty minutes to drive across the entire island from west to east. The mountain roads were narrow and winding with precipitous drop offs on the passenger side. Although the scenery was pretty (for the passenger), it was a white-knuckle driving experience.

“Unbelievably Wonderful”
Reviewed July 17, 2006

My husbands family has been there since the 13th Century, his Grandmother comes from a Village that is 500 years old, when she was 17 she & her 3 brothers went on a ship for 40 days to San Francisco & established the family name there & Sacramento, Ca. Our family has a beautiful home up from the sea where during the year they rent out their two wonderful apts. we ate outside the cousins cooked for us in an outdoor wood oven, served wine & every a.m. we were left with fresh bread & pastries, we swam in the sea everyday, then ate out at all the cousins restaurants, had coffee on the square, went to Mass which was all song in Croatian, then to expresso & Ice cream, the evenings were wonderful watching the boats come in from the other islands & the children who had their treasurers that they had dived for at night for sale for small amounts, the children are safe there, they play football (soccer) to us, in the square which is beautiful & inviting, the food is Croatian, fantastic & cooked how you like it, they love tourist & children, our grandson wants to go back next summer & work for his cousin at the Last Beach...Beaches are all rocks (they call them stones) the water cool & refreshing & so clean, so bring rubber shoes, snorkel gear or scuba gear, quiet after lunch everyone rests for the evening meal & then down to the Sea for more Ice Cream & fellowship, wild lavendar runs thru out the island & is sold at the boardwalk & is so inexpensive, the Hvar people live off the summer months for the rest of the year so they have great respect for tourists, also wonderful boat trips to the other Islands to swim in the Green Caves & the Island of Vise, Parmaganzia, all Islands are beautiful & CLEAN, everything is clean & you can drink the water..Our relatives speak English & 5 other languages, Marinko is the curator of the museums, which are wonderful. Our cousin's apt is great, with fans & so clean, they pick up everyday for you & wash your clothes, but really enjoy your company..especially after the war which they were cut off from the mainland so they harvest olives for olive oil, homemade which they will send home with you..Lavendar is the islands mainstay & butterflies galore especially in Grabjle the grandmothers village...Visit Hvar & call our cousins Ivan Zaninovic they will take wonderful care of you..The ferry boat ride from Split is great, inexpensive or you can come by ferry from Dubrovnik, anyway you go to Hvar is easy.Enjoy the family atmosphere, but also we met countless young people from all over the world who were friendly & they told us the night life was great to. Flying to Split we came thru London then the next day, but thru Travel Advisor looking to go thru Frankfurt or thru Italy on a cruise the next time from Ancona..No matter what way you go you will love this Island & the people...Hint there is a fast food place by the farmers market which had wonderful hamburgers & french fries...Enjoy...Betty Ann Zetz
