What a wonderful family. Warm, helpful and friendly.

They took incredible care of us.

As for the hotel itself. It is very clean and comfortable.

I highly recommend that if you are coming to Hvar, this is the place to stay!

Due to our travel company, Expedia making a right cock-up by not arranging any transfer from Split Airport to our accommodation in Hvar we arrived in Croatia after the last ferry had departed. This meant that we had to get the next days ferry. Consequently, we arrived a day late at Pansion Dela.
We were greeted by Vincent and Magda, our hosts. By the end of our two week stay we had become part of their family, so close we had become due to their warmth, generosity and kindness. Nothing was too much trouble. We will be returning to Hvar this summer to pay them a visit and to renew our friendship.

Two female friends aged 38 from the UK travelling to Croatia for 9 nights.
We travelled from Brac to Hvar by ferry (110kn each)

What a little gem in the Adriatic. Staying here, with a Croatia family only enhanced our Croatian experience. Magda owns the B&B and runs it with her delightful daughters and their Uncle Vincent. From the moment he collected us from the port (bus stop which is by the Church), it felt like home as all the family couldn’t do enough for you – constantly offering advice, offering to drive us to the main attractions (castle, harbour, beach) and just like being at home – you can get a lift into town and collected again (if you call before 10.30pm)

Dela is located 15mins walk, uphill from the harbour edge with fantastic views of the nearby islands. We had a studio room in the roof which was very well appointed. It could sleep 3 and had a big balcony that looked out onto the views. Every detail has been thought of here, even a small light above the bed to read and plenty of storage space and a fridge to keep your water cool. You could tell a “Mum” lived here, the towels smelt gorgeous and were super soft. If you stayed around the pool during the day, extra towels were provided, and someone would turn up with ice cream to cool you down.

Breakfast wasn’t included but for 75kn you could have a choice of items. We divided the week eating breakfast in the B&B and walking down to the harbour to enjoy a waterside breakfast pancake (33kn) or omelette (40kn)

The benefit of being out of town slightly is that it was quiet, and we walked back every night (it is doable) in 15-20mins. Often walking downhill to work up an appetite for dinner.

The nightlife in Hvar is epic. Pink Champagne doesn’t open until 2am and Carpe Diem beach club night party commences at midnight for an all-night beach party. If you go here during the day (boat trip to the nearby islands takes 15mins and costs 50kn) it has a very Nikki Beach, Marbella/Ibiza vibe.

Hvar Town is the party place, I am glad I also experienced another island. If you love the water this is the place for you, it’s crystal clear.

Room tip: Studio room, 4a has great views

This B&B was such a special find. Family owned and run, this B&B offers wonderful service. They provide rides to and from nearby Hvar town, which makes it incredibly easy to explore without a car. They were even gracious enough to give us a ride (for a reasonable fee) to a winery on another part of the island. We were served ice cream by the pool upon our arrival as a courtesy and for the next few days enjoyed drinks and snacks by the pool as we read books, cooled off and relaxed. Our room offered beautiful views of the islands nearby and beautiful sunsets off of a private patio. Breakfast in the morning was made to order and plentiful. It was definitely worth the additional charge. The younger family members offered us great recommendations for restaurants and bars to check out nearby. We were actually sad to leave this little oasis and continue on our travels throughout Croatia.

We had an incredible time at Dela and was so so grateful that we decided to stay here. The place is run by the sweetest most endearing family who could not do enough for us during our stay. From drinks by the pool, to getting a lift to and from town when we pleased, they really were so inviting and hospitable and made us feel very much at home. The place only has about 14 rooms but that made for such a warm and personal engagement that was faultless. When looking on the map I was slightly concerned about the distance from the hotel to the town but it wasn’t of the slightest concern and was actually a benefit to its location. The pool is sensational, and my partner and I spent many hours sitting by the pool, drinking a beer or cocktail, and reviewing and planning our next adventure around the island, which the family were also more than happy to provide advice and recommendations that were all brilliant. I don’t have a bad word to say about our stay at Dela, it was an incredible holiday and escape and I would go back in a second and stay again. But the absolute star feature of our stay was the family who ran the business. By the end of our stay we really felt like a part of the family and was sad saying goodbye.
The best hidden secret in Hvar.
